The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD saying,
- La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie de la part de l'Éternel, en ces mots: (Ⅱ) - ὁ λόγος ὁ γενόμενος παρὰ κυρίου πρὸς Ιερεμιαν λέγων (Ⅲ) - Verbum quod factum est a Domino ad Jeremiam, dicens : (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃11 הדבר אשר היה אל ירמיהו מאת יהוה לאמר (Ⅴ)

Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
- Écoutez les paroles de cette alliance, Et parlez aux hommes de Juda et aux habitants de Jérusalem! (Ⅱ) - ἀκούσατε τοὺς λόγους τη̃ς διαθήκης ταύτης καὶ λαλήσεις πρὸς ἄνδρας Ιουδα καὶ πρὸς τοὺς κατοικου̃ντας Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ) - Audite verba pacti hujus,/ et loquimini ad viros Juda,/ et ad habitatores Jerusalem,/ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃11 שמעו את דברי הברית הזאת ודברתם אל איש יהודה ועל ישבי ירושלם (Ⅴ)

And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,
- Dis-leur: Ainsi parle l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël: Maudit soit l'homme qui n'écoute point les paroles de cette alliance, (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐρει̃ς πρὸς αὐτούς τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ἐπικατάρατος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὃς οὐκ ἀκούσεται τω̃ν λόγων τη̃ς διαθήκης ταύτης (Ⅲ) - et dices ad eos : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël :/ Maledictus vir qui non audierit verba pacti hujus/ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃11 ואמרת אליהם כה אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל ארור האיש אשר לא ישמע את דברי הברית הזאת (Ⅴ)

Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:
- Que j'ai prescrite à vos pères, Le jour où je les ai fait sortir du pays d'Égypte, De la fournaise de fer, en disant: Écoutez ma voix, et faites tout ce que je vous ordonnerai; Alors vous serez mon peuple, Je serai votre Dieu, (Ⅱ) - ἡ̃ς ἐνετειλάμην τοι̃ς πατράσιν ὑμω̃ν ἐν ἡμέρα̨ ἡ̨̃ ἀνήγαγον αὐτοὺς ἐκ γη̃ς Αἰγύπτου ἐκ καμίνου τη̃ς σιδηρα̃ς λέγων ἀκούσατε τη̃ς φωνη̃ς μου καὶ ποιήσατε πάντα ὅσα ἐὰν ἐντείλωμαι ὑμι̃ν καὶ ἔσεσθέ μοι εἰς λαόν καὶ ἐγὼ ἔσομαι ὑμι̃ν εἰς θεόν (Ⅲ) - quod præcepi patribus vestris,/ in die qua eduxi eos de terra Ægypti,/ de fornace ferrea, dicens :/ Audite vocem meam, et facite omnia quæ præcipio vobis,/ et eritis mihi in populum,/ et ego ero vobis in Deum :/ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃11 אשר צויתי את אבותיכם ביום הוציאי אותם מארץ מצרים מכור הברזל לאמר שמעו בקולי ועשיתם אותם ככל אשר אצוה אתכם והייתם לי לעם ואנכי אהיה לכם לאלהים (Ⅴ)

That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.
- Et j'accomplirai le serment que j'ai fait à vos pères, De leur donner un pays où coulent le lait et le miel, Comme vous le voyez aujourd'hui. -Et je répondis: Amen, Éternel! (Ⅱ) - ὅπως στήσω τὸν ὅρκον μου ὃν ὤμοσα τοι̃ς πατράσιν ὑμω̃ν του̃ δου̃ναι αὐτοι̃ς γη̃ν ῥέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι καθὼς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη καὶ ἀπεκρίθην καὶ εἰ̃πα γένοιτο κύριε (Ⅲ) - ut suscitem juramentum quod juravi patribus vestris,/ daturum me eis terram fluentem lacte et melle,/ sicut est dies hæc.] Et respondi, et dixi : Amen, Domine. (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃11 למען הקים את השבועה אשר נשבעתי לאבותיכם לתת להם ארץ זבת חלב ודבש כיום הזה ואען ואמר אמן יהוה ס (Ⅴ)

Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.
- L'Éternel me dit: Publie toutes ces paroles dans les villes de Juda Et dans les rues de Jérusalem, en disant: Écoutez les paroles de cette alliance, Et mettez-les en pratique! (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρός με ἀνάγνωθι τοὺς λόγους τούτους ἐν πόλεσιν Ιουδα καὶ ἔξωθεν Ιερουσαλημ λέγων ἀκούσατε τοὺς λόγους τη̃ς διαθήκης ταύτης καὶ ποιήσατε αὐτούς (Ⅲ) - Et dixit Dominus ad me : [Vociferare omnia verba hæc in civitatibus Juda,/ et foris Jerusalem, dicens :/ Audite verba pacti hujus, et facite illa,/ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃11 ויאמר יהוה אלי קרא את כל הדברים האלה בערי יהודה ובחצות ירושלם לאמר שמעו את דברי הברית הזאת ועשיתם אותם (Ⅴ)

For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.
- Car j'ai averti vos pères, Depuis le jour où je les ai fait monter du pays d'Égypte Jusqu'à ce jour, Je les ai avertis tous les matins, en disant: Écoutez ma voix! (Ⅱ) - quia contestans contestatus sum patres vestros,/ in die qua eduxi eos de terra Ægypti, usque ad diem hanc :/ mane consurgens contestatus sum,/ et dixi : Audite vocem meam./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃11 כי העד העדתי באבותיכם ביום העלותי אותם מארץ מצרים ועד היום הזה השכם והעד לאמר שמעו בקולי (Ⅴ)

Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do: but they did them not.
- Mais ils n'ont pas écouté, ils n'ont pas prêté l'oreille, Ils ont suivi chacun les penchants de leur mauvais coeur; Alors j'ai accompli sur eux toutes les paroles de cette alliance, Que je leur avais ordonné d'observer et qu'ils n'ont point observée. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οὐκ ἐποίησαν (Ⅲ) - Et non audierunt, nec inclinaverunt aurem suam,/ sed abierunt, unusquisque in pravitate cordis sui mali :/ et induxi super eos omnia verba pacti hujus/ quod præcepi ut facerent,/ et non fecerunt.] (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃11 ולא שמעו ולא הטו את אזנם וילכו איש בשרירות לבם הרע ואביא עליהם את כל דברי הברית הזאת אשר צויתי לעשות ולא עשו ס (Ⅴ)

And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
- L'Éternel me dit: Il y a une conjuration entre les hommes de Juda Et les habitants de Jérusalem. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρός με εὑρέθη σύνδεσμος ἐν ἀνδράσιν Ιουδα καὶ ἐν τοι̃ς κατοικου̃σιν Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ) - Et dixit Dominus ad me : [Inventa est conjuratio in viris Juda et in habitatoribus Jerusalem./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃11 ויאמר יהוה אלי נמצא קשר באיש יהודה ובישבי ירושלם (Ⅴ)

They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
- Ils sont retournés aux iniquités de leurs premiers pères, Qui ont refusé d'écouter mes paroles, Et ils sont allés après d'autres dieux, pour les servir. La maison d'Israël et la maison de Juda ont violé mon alliance, Que j'avais faite avec leurs pères. (Ⅱ) - ἐπεστράφησαν ἐπὶ τὰς ἀδικίας τω̃ν πατέρων αὐτω̃ν τω̃ν πρότερον οἳ οὐκ ἤθελον εἰσακου̃σαι τω̃ν λόγων μου καὶ ἰδοὺ αὐτοὶ βαδίζουσιν ὀπίσω θεω̃ν ἀλλοτρίων του̃ δουλεύειν αὐτοι̃ς καὶ διεσκέδασαν οἰ̃κος Ισραηλ καὶ οἰ̃κος Ιουδα τὴν διαθήκην μου ἣν διεθέμην πρὸς τοὺς πατέρας αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Reversi sunt ad iniquitates patrum suorum priores,/ qui noluerunt audire verba mea :/ et hi ergo abierunt post deos alienos, ut servirent eis :/ irritum fecerunt domus Israël et domus Juda pactum meum/ quod pepigi cum patribus eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃11 שבו על עונת אבותם הראשנים אשר מאנו לשמוע את דברי והמה הלכו אחרי אלהים אחרים לעבדם הפרו בית ישראל ובית יהודה את בריתי אשר כרתי את אבותם ס (Ⅴ)

Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.
- C'est pourquoi ainsi parle l'Éternel: Voici, je vais faire venir sur eux des malheurs Dont ils ne pourront se délivrer. Ils crieront vers moi, Et je ne les écouterai pas. (Ⅱ) - διὰ του̃το τάδε λέγει κύριος ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐπάγω ἐπὶ τὸν λαὸν του̃τον κακά ἐξ ὡ̃ν οὐ δυνήσονται ἐξελθει̃ν ἐξ αὐτω̃ν καὶ κεκράξονται πρός με καὶ οὐκ εἰσακούσομαι αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Quam ob rem hæc dicit Dominus :/ Ecce ego inducam super eos mala/ de quibus exire non poterunt :/ et clamabunt ad me, et non exaudiam eos./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃11 לכן כה אמר יהוה הנני מביא אליהם רעה אשר לא יוכלו לצאת ממנה וזעקו אלי ולא אשמע אליהם (Ⅴ)

Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.
- Les villes de Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem Iront invoquer les dieux auxquels ils offrent de l'encens, Mais ils ne les sauveront pas au temps de leur malheur. (Ⅱ) - καὶ πορεύσονται πόλεις Ιουδα καὶ οἱ κατοικου̃ντες Ιερουσαλημ καὶ κεκράξονται πρὸς τοὺς θεούς οἱ̃ς αὐτοὶ θυμιω̃σιν αὐτοι̃ς μὴ σώσουσιν αὐτοὺς ἐν καιρω̨̃ τω̃ν κακω̃ν αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Et ibunt civitates Juda et habitatores Jerusalem,/ et clamabunt ad deos quibus libant,/ et non salvabunt eos in tempore afflictionis eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃11 והלכו ערי יהודה וישבי ירושלם וזעקו אל האלהים אשר הם מקטרים להם והושע לא יושיעו להם בעת רעתם (Ⅴ)

For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.
- Car tu as autant de dieux que de villes, ô Juda! Et autant Jérusalem a de rues, Autant vous avez dressé d'autels aux idoles, D'autels pour offrir de l'encens à Baal... (Ⅱ) - ὅτι κατ' ἀριθμὸν τω̃ν πόλεών σου ἠ̃σαν θεοί σου Ιουδα καὶ κατ' ἀριθμὸν ἐξόδων τη̃ς Ιερουσαλημ ἐτάξατε βωμοὺς θυμια̃ν τη̨̃ Βααλ (Ⅲ) - Secundum numerum enim civitatum tuarum/ erant dii tui, Juda :/ et secundum numerum viarum Jerusalem,/ posuisti aras confusionis,/ aras ad libandum Baalim./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃11 כי מספר עריך היו אלהיך יהודה ומספר חצות ירושלם שמתם מזבחות לבשת מזבחות לקטר לבעל ס (Ⅴ)

Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.
- Et toi, n'intercède pas en faveur de ce peuple, N'élève pour eux ni supplications ni prières; Car je ne les écouterai pas, Quand ils m'invoqueront à cause de leur malheur. (Ⅱ) - καὶ σὺ μὴ προσεύχου περὶ του̃ λαου̃ τούτου καὶ μὴ ἀξίου περὶ αὐτω̃ν ἐν δεήσει καὶ προσευχη̨̃ ὅτι οὐκ εἰσακούσομαι ἐν τω̨̃ καιρω̨̃ ἐν ὡ̨̃ ἐπικαλου̃νταί με ἐν καιρω̨̃ κακώσεως αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Tu ergo noli orare pro populo hoc,/ et ne assumas pro eis laudem et orationem,/ quia non exaudiam in tempore clamoris eorum ad me,/ in tempore afflictionis eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃11 ואתה אל תתפלל בעד העם הזה ואל תשא בעדם רנה ותפלה כי אינני שמע בעת קראם אלי בעד רעתם ס (Ⅴ)

What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.
- Que ferait mon bien-aimé dans ma maison? Il s'y commet une foule de crimes. La chair sacrée disparaîtra devant toi. Quand tu fais le mal, c'est alors que tu triomphes! (Ⅱ) - τί ἡ ἠγαπημένη ἐν τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ μου ἐποίησεν βδέλυγμα μὴ εὐχαὶ καὶ κρέα ἅγια ἀφελου̃σιν ἀπὸ σου̃ τὰς κακίας σου ἢ τούτοις διαφεύξη̨ (Ⅲ) - Quid est, quod dilectus meus in domo mea fecit scelera multa ?/ numquid carnes sanctæ auferent a te malitias tuas,/ in quibus gloriata es ?/ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃11 מה לידידי בביתי עשותה המזמתה הרבים ובשר קדש יעברו מעליך כי רעתכי אז תעלזי (Ⅴ)

The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
- Olivier verdoyant, remarquable par la beauté de son fruit, Tel est le nom que t'avait donné l'Éternel; Au bruit d'un grand fracas, il l'embrase par le feu, Et ses rameaux sont brisés. (Ⅱ) - ἐλαίαν ὡραίαν εὔσκιον τω̨̃ εἴδει ἐκάλεσεν κύριος τὸ ὄνομά σου εἰς φωνὴν περιτομη̃ς αὐτη̃ς ἀνήφθη πυ̃ρ ἐπ' αὐτήν μεγάλη ἡ θλι̃ψις ἐπὶ σέ ἠχρεώθησαν οἱ κλάδοι αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Olivam uberem, pulchram, fructiferam, speciosam,/ vocavit Dominus nomen tuum :/ ad vocem loquelæ, grandis exarsit ignis in ea,/ et combusta sunt fruteta ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃11 זית רענן יפה פרי תאר קרא יהוה שמך לקול המולה גדלה הצית אש עליה ורעו דליותיו (Ⅴ)

For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.
- L'Éternel des armées, qui t'a planté, Appelle sur toi le malheur, A cause de la méchanceté de la maison d'Israël et de la maison de Juda, Qui ont agi pour m'irriter, en offrant de l'encens à Baal. (Ⅱ) - καὶ κύριος ὁ καταφυτεύσας σε ἐλάλησεν ἐπὶ σὲ κακὰ ἀντὶ τη̃ς κακίας οἴκου Ισραηλ καὶ οἴκου Ιουδα ὅτι ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοι̃ς του̃ παροργίσαι με ἐν τω̨̃ θυμια̃ν αὐτοὺς τη̨̃ Βααλ (Ⅲ) - Et Dominus exercituum, qui plantavit te,/ locutus est super te malum,/ pro malis domus Israël, et domus Juda,/ quæ fecerunt sibi ad irritandum me,/ libantes Baalim.]\ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃11 ויהוה צבאות הנוטע אותך דבר עליך רעה בגלל רעת בית ישראל ובית יהודה אשר עשו להם להכעסני לקטר לבעל ס (Ⅴ)

And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.
- L'Éternel m'en a informé, et je l'ai su; Alors tu m'as fait voir leurs oeuvres. (Ⅱ) - κύριε γνώρισόν μοι καὶ γνώσομαι τότε εἰ̃δον τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Tu autem, Domine, demonstrasti mihi, et cognovi :/ tunc ostendisti mihi studia eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃11 ויהוה הודיעני ואדעה אז הראיתני מעלליהם (Ⅴ)

But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
- J'étais comme un agneau familier qu'on mène à la boucherie, Et j'ignorais les mauvais desseins qu'ils méditaient contre moi: Détruisons l'arbre avec son fruit! Retranchons-le de la terre des vivants, Et qu'on ne se souvienne plus de son nom! - (Ⅱ) - ἐγὼ δὲ ὡς ἀρνίον ἄκακον ἀγόμενον του̃ θύεσθαι οὐκ ἔγνων ἐπ' ἐμὲ ἐλογίσαντο λογισμὸν πονηρὸν λέγοντες δευ̃τε καὶ ἐμβάλωμεν ξύλον εἰς τὸν ἄρτον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐκτρίψωμεν αὐτὸν ἀπὸ γη̃ς ζώντων καὶ τὸ ὄνομα αὐτου̃ οὐ μὴ μνησθη̨̃ ἔτι (Ⅲ) - Et ego quasi agnus mansuetus,/ qui portatur ad victimam :/ et non cognovi quia cogitaverunt super me consilia, dicentes :/ Mittamus lignum in panem ejus,/ et eradamus eum de terra viventium,/ et nomen ejus non memoretur amplius./ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃11 ואני ככבש אלוף יובל לטבוח ולא ידעתי כי עלי חשבו מחשבות נשחיתה עץ בלחמו ונכרתנו מארץ חיים ושמו לא יזכר עוד (Ⅴ)

But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.
- Mais l'Éternel des armées est un juste juge, Qui sonde les reins et les coeurs. Je verrai ta vengeance s'exercer contre eux, Car c'est à toi que je confie ma cause. (Ⅱ) - κύριε κρίνων δίκαια δοκιμάζων νεφροὺς καὶ καρδίας ἴδοιμι τὴν παρὰ σου̃ ἐκδίκησιν ἐξ αὐτω̃ν ὅτι πρὸς σὲ ἀπεκάλυψα τὸ δικαίωμά μου (Ⅲ) - Tu autem, Domine Sabaoth, qui judicas juste,/ et probas renes et corda,/ videam ultionem tuam ex eis :/ tibi enim revelavi causam meam./ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃11 ויהוה צבאות שפט צדק בחן כליות ולב אראה נקמתך מהם כי אליך גליתי את ריבי ס (Ⅴ)

Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:
- C'est pourquoi ainsi parle l'Éternel contre les gens d'Anathoth, Qui en veulent à ta vie, et qui disent: Ne prophétise pas au nom de l'Éternel, Ou tu mourras de notre main! (Ⅱ) - διὰ του̃το τάδε λέγει κύριος ἐπὶ τοὺς ἄνδρας Αναθωθ τοὺς ζητου̃ντας τὴν ψυχήν μου τοὺς λέγοντας οὐ μὴ προφητεύση̨ς ἐπὶ τω̨̃ ὀνόματι κυρίου εἰ δὲ μή ἀποθανη̨̃ ἐν ται̃ς χερσὶν ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Propterea hæc dicit Dominus ad viros Anathoth,/ qui quærunt animam tuam, et dicunt :/ Non prophetabis in nomine Domini,/ et non morieris in manibus nostris :/ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃11 לכן כה אמר יהוה על אנשי ענתות המבקשים את נפשך לאמר לא תנבא בשם יהוה ולא תמות בידנו ס (Ⅴ)

Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:
- C'est pourquoi ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Voici, je vais les châtier; Les jeunes hommes mourront par l'épée, Leurs fils et leurs filles mourront par la famine. (Ⅱ) - ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐπισκέψομαι ἐπ' αὐτούς οἱ νεανίσκοι αὐτω̃ν ἐν μαχαίρα̨ ἀποθανου̃νται καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτω̃ν καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες αὐτω̃ν τελευτήσουσιν ἐν λιμω̨̃ (Ⅲ) - propterea hæc dicit Dominus exercituum :/ Ecce ego visitabo super eos :/ juvenes morientur in gladio ;/ filii eorum et filiæ eorum morientur in fame./ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃11 לכן כה אמר יהוה צבאות הנני פקד עליהם הבחורים ימתו בחרב בניהם ובנותיהם ימתו ברעב (Ⅴ)

And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.

(Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγκατάλειμμα οὐκ ἔσται αὐτω̃ν ὅτι ἐπάξω κακὰ ἐπὶ τοὺς κατοικου̃ντας ἐν Αναθωθ ἐν ἐνιαυτω̨̃ ἐπισκέψεως αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Et reliquiæ non erunt ex eis :/ inducam enim malum super viros Anathoth,/ annum visitationis eorum.] (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃11 ושארית לא תהיה להם כי אביא רעה אל אנשי ענתות שנת פקדתם ס (Ⅴ)
