No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
- On dirait, en vérité, que le genre humain c'est vous, Et qu'avec vous doit mourir la sagesse. (Ⅱ) - εἰ̃τα ὑμει̃ς ἐστε ἄνθρωποι ἠ̃ μεθ' ὑμω̃ν τελευτήσει σοφία (Ⅲ) - Ergo vos estis soli homines,/ et vobiscum morietur sapientia ?/ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃12 אמנם כי אתם עם ועמכם תמות חכמה (Ⅴ)

But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
- J'ai tout aussi bien que vous de l'intelligence, moi, Je ne vous suis point inférieur; Et qui ne sait les choses que vous dites? (Ⅱ) - κἀμοὶ μὲν καρδία καθ' ὑμα̃ς ἐστιν (Ⅲ) - Et mihi est cor sicut et vobis, nec inferior vestri sum ;/ quis enim hæc quæ nostis ignorat ?/ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃12 גם לי לבב כמוכם לא נפל אנכי מכם ואת מי אין כמו אלה (Ⅴ)

I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.
- Je suis pour mes amis un objet de raillerie, Quand j'implore le secours de Dieu; Le juste, l'innocent, un objet de raillerie! (Ⅱ) - δίκαιος γὰρ ἀνὴρ καὶ ἄμεμπτος ἐγενήθη εἰς χλεύασμα (Ⅲ) - Qui deridetur ab amico suo, sicut ego,/ invocabit Deum, et exaudiet eum :/ deridetur enim justi simplicitas./ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃12 שחק לרעהו אהיה קרא לאלוה ויענהו שחוק צדיק תמים (Ⅴ)

He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.
- Au malheur le mépris! c'est la devise des heureux; A celui dont le pied chancelle est réservé le mépris. (Ⅱ) - εἰς χρόνον γὰρ τακτὸν ἡτοίμαστο πεσει̃ν ὑπὸ ἄλλους οἴκους τε αὐτου̃ ἐκπορθει̃σθαι ὑπὸ ἀνόμων (Ⅲ) - Lampas contempta apud cogitationes divitum/ parata ad tempus statutum./ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃12 לפיד בוז לעשתות שאנן נכון למועדי רגל (Ⅴ)

The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.
- Il y a paix sous la tente des pillards, Sécurité pour ceux qui offensent Dieu, Pour quiconque se fait un dieu de sa force. (Ⅱ) - οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ μηδεὶς πεποιθέτω πονηρὸς ὢν ἀθω̨̃ος ἔσεσθαι ὅσοι παροργίζουσιν τὸν κύριον ὡς οὐχὶ καὶ ἔτασις αὐτω̃ν ἔσται (Ⅲ) - Abundant tabernacula prædonum,/ et audacter provocant Deum,/ cum ipse dederit omnia in manus eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃12 ישליו אהלים לשדדים ובטחות למרגיזי אל לאשר הביא אלוה בידו (Ⅴ)

But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
- Interroge les bêtes, elles t'instruiront, Les oiseaux du ciel, ils te l'apprendront; (Ⅱ) - ἀλλὰ δὴ ἐπερώτησον τετράποδα ἐάν σοι εἴπωσιν πετεινὰ δὲ οὐρανου̃ ἐάν σοι ἀπαγγείλωσιν (Ⅲ) - Nimirum interroga jumenta, et docebunt te ;/ et volatilia cæli, et indicabunt tibi./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃12 ואולם שאל נא בהמות ותרך ועוף השמים ויגד לך (Ⅴ)

Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
- Parle à la terre, elle t'instruira; Et les poissons de la mer te le raconteront. (Ⅱ) - ἐκδιήγησαι δὲ γη̨̃ ἐάν σοι φράση̨ καὶ ἐξηγήσονταί σοι οἱ ἰχθύες τη̃ς θαλάσσης (Ⅲ) - Loquere terræ, et respondebit tibi,/ et narrabunt pisces maris./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃12 או שיח לארץ ותרך ויספרו לך דגי הים (Ⅴ)

Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?
- Qui ne reconnaît chez eux la preuve Que la main de l'Éternel a fait toutes choses? (Ⅱ) - τίς οὐκ ἔγνω ἐν πα̃σι τούτοις ὅτι χεὶρ κυρίου ἐποίησεν ταυ̃τα (Ⅲ) - Quis ignorat quod omnia hæc manus Domini fecerit ?/ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃12 מי לא ידע בכל אלה כי יד יהוה עשתה זאת (Ⅴ)

In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
- Il tient dans sa main l'âme de tout ce qui vit, Le souffle de toute chair d'homme. (Ⅱ) - εἰ μὴ ἐν χειρὶ αὐτου̃ ψυχὴ πάντων τω̃ν ζώντων καὶ πνευ̃μα παντὸς ἀνθρώπου (Ⅲ) - In cujus manu anima omnis viventis,/ et spiritus universæ carnis hominis./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃12 אשר בידו נפש כל חי ורוח כל בשר איש (Ⅴ)

Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?
- L'oreille ne discerne-t-elle pas les paroles, Comme le palais savoure les aliments? (Ⅱ) - οὐ̃ς μὲν γὰρ ῥήματα διακρίνει λάρυγξ δὲ σι̃τα γεύεται (Ⅲ) - Nonne auris verba dijudicat ?/ et fauces comedentis, saporem ?/ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃12 הלא אזן מלין תבחן וחך אכל יטעם לו (Ⅴ)

With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.
- Dans les vieillards se trouve la sagesse, Et dans une longue vie l'intelligence. (Ⅱ) - ἐν πολλω̨̃ χρόνω̨ σοφία ἐν δὲ πολλω̨̃ βίω̨ ἐπιστήμη (Ⅲ) - In antiquis est sapientia,/ et in multo tempore prudentia./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃12 בישישים חכמה וארך ימים תבונה (Ⅴ)

With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.
- En Dieu résident la sagesse et la puissance. Le conseil et l'intelligence lui appartiennent. (Ⅱ) - παρ' αὐτω̨̃ σοφία καὶ δύναμις αὐτω̨̃ βουλὴ καὶ σύνεσις (Ⅲ) - Apud ipsum est sapientia et fortitudo ;/ ipse habet consilium et intelligentiam./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃12 עמו חכמה וגבורה לו עצה ותבונה (Ⅴ)

Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.
- Ce qu'il renverse ne sera point rebâti, Celui qu'il enferme ne sera point délivré. (Ⅱ) - ἐὰν καταβάλη̨ τίς οἰκοδομήσει ἐὰν κλείση̨ κατὰ ἀνθρώπων τίς ἀνοίξει (Ⅲ) - Si destruxerit, nemo est qui ædificet ;/ si incluserit hominem, nullus est qui aperiat./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃12 הן יהרוס ולא יבנה יסגר על איש ולא יפתח (Ⅴ)

Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
- Il retient les eaux et tout se dessèche; Il les lâche, et la terre en est dévastée. (Ⅱ) - ἐὰν κωλύση̨ τὸ ὥδωρ ξηρανει̃ τὴν γη̃ν ἐὰν δὲ ἐπαφη̨̃ ἀπώλεσεν αὐτὴν καταστρέψας (Ⅲ) - Si continuerit aquas, omnia siccabuntur ;/ et si emiserit eas, subvertent terram./ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃12 הן יעצר במים ויבשו וישלחם ויהפכו ארץ (Ⅴ)

With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.
- Il possède la force et la prudence; Il maîtrise celui qui s'égare ou fait égarer les autres. (Ⅱ) - παρ' αὐτω̨̃ κράτος καὶ ἰσχύς αὐτω̨̃ ἐπιστήμη καὶ σύνεσις (Ⅲ) - Apud ipsum est fortitudo et sapientia ;/ ipse novit et decipientem, et eum qui decipitur./ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃12 עמו עז ותושיה[1] לו שגג ומשגה (Ⅴ)

He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.
- Il emmène captifs les conseillers; Il trouble la raison des juges. (Ⅱ) - διάγων βουλευτὰς αἰχμαλώτους κριτὰς δὲ γη̃ς ἐξέστησεν (Ⅲ) - Adducit consiliarios in stultum finem,/ et judices in stuporem./ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃12 מוליך יועצים שולל ושפטים יהולל (Ⅴ)

He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.
- Il délie la ceinture des rois, Il met une corde autour de leurs reins. (Ⅱ) - καθιζάνων βασιλει̃ς ἐπὶ θρόνους καὶ περιέδησεν ζώνη̨ ὀσφύας αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Balteum regum dissolvit,/ et præcingit fune renes eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃12 מוסר מלכים פתח ויאסר אזור במתניהם (Ⅴ)

He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.
- Il emmène captifs les sacrificateurs; Il fait tomber les puissants. (Ⅱ) - ἐξαποστέλλων ἱερει̃ς αἰχμαλώτους δυνάστας δὲ γη̃ς κατέστρεψεν (Ⅲ) - Ducit sacerdotes inglorios,/ et optimates supplantat :/ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃12 מוליך כהנים שולל ואתנים יסלף (Ⅴ)

He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.
- Il ôte la parole à ceux qui ont de l'assurance; Il prive de jugement les vieillards. (Ⅱ) - διαλλάσσων χείλη πιστω̃ν σύνεσιν δὲ πρεσβυτέρων ἔγνω (Ⅲ) - commutans labium veracium,/ et doctrinam senum auferens./ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃12 מסיר שפה לנאמנים וטעם זקנים יקח (Ⅴ)

He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.
- Il verse le mépris sur les grands; Il relâche la ceinture des forts. (Ⅱ) - ἐκχέων ἀτιμίαν ἐπ' ἄρχοντας ταπεινοὺς δὲ ἰάσατο (Ⅲ) - Effundit despectionem super principes,/ eos qui oppressi fuerant relevans./ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃12 שופך בוז על נדיבים ומזיח אפיקים רפה (Ⅴ)

He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.
- Il met à découvert ce qui est caché dans les ténèbres, Il produit à la lumière l'ombre de la mort. (Ⅱ) - ἀνακαλύπτων βαθέα ἐκ σκότους ἐξήγαγεν δὲ εἰς φω̃ς σκιὰν θανάτου (Ⅲ) - Qui revelat profunda de tenebris,/ et producit in lucem umbram mortis./ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃12 מגלה עמקות מני חשך ויצא לאור צלמות (Ⅴ)

He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.
- Il donne de l'accroissement aux nations, et il les anéantit; Il les étend au loin, et il les ramène dans leurs limites. (Ⅱ) - πλανω̃ν ἔθνη καὶ ἀπολλύων αὐτά καταστρωννύων ἔθνη καὶ καθοδηγω̃ν αὐτά (Ⅲ) - Qui multiplicat gentes, et perdit eas,/ et subversas in integrum restituit./ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃12 משגיא לגוים ויאבדם שטח לגוים וינחם (Ⅴ)

He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
- Il enlève l'intelligence aux chefs des peuples, Il les fait errer dans les déserts sans chemin; (Ⅱ) - διαλλάσσων καρδίας ἀρχόντων γη̃ς ἐπλάνησεν δὲ αὐτοὺς ὁδω̨̃ ἡ̨̃ οὐκ ἤ̨δεισαν (Ⅲ) - Qui immutat cor principum populi terræ,/ et decipit eos ut frustra incedant per invium :/ (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃12 מסיר לב ראשי עם הארץ ויתעם בתהו לא דרך (Ⅴ)

They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.
- Ils tâtonnent dans les ténèbres, et ne voient pas clair; Il les fait errer comme des gens ivres. (Ⅱ) - ψηλαφήσαισαν σκότος καὶ μὴ φω̃ς πλανηθείησαν δὲ ὥσπερ ὁ μεθύων (Ⅲ) - palpabunt quasi in tenebris, et non in luce,/ et errare eos faciet quasi ebrios.] (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃12 ימששו חשך ולא אור ויתעם כשכור (Ⅴ)
