Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.
- La dix-huitième année du règne de Jéroboam, Abija régna sur Juda. (Ⅱ) - ἐν τω̨̃ ὀκτωκαιδεκάτω̨ ἔτει τη̃ς βασιλείας Ιεροβοαμ ἐβασίλευσεν Αβια ἐπὶ Ιουδαν (Ⅲ) - Anno octavodecimo regis Jeroboam, regnavit Abia super Judam. (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃13 בשנת שמונה עשרה למלך ירבעם וימלך אביה על יהודה (Ⅴ)

He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
- Il régna trois ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Micaja, fille d'Uriel, de Guibea. Il y eut guerre entre Abija et Jéroboam. (Ⅱ) - ἔτη τρία ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ὄνομα τη̨̃ μητρὶ αὐτου̃ Μααχα θυγάτηρ Ουριηλ ἀπὸ Γαβαων καὶ πόλεμος ἠ̃ν ἀνὰ μέσον Αβια καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Ιεροβοαμ (Ⅲ) - Tribus annis regnavit in Jerusalem, nomenque matris ejus Michaia filia Uriel de Gabaa : et erat bellum inter Abiam et Jeroboam. (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃13 שלוש שנים מלך בירושלם ושם אמו מיכיהו בת אוריאל מן גבעה ומלחמה היתה בין אביה ובין ירבעם (Ⅴ)

And Abijah set the battle in array with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men: Jeroboam also set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, being mighty men of valor.
- Abija engagea les hostilités avec une armée de vaillants guerriers, quatre cent mille hommes d'élite; et Jéroboam se rangea en bataille contre lui avec huit cent mille hommes d'élite, vaillants guerriers. (Ⅱ) - καὶ παρετάξατο Αβια τὸν πόλεμον ἐν δυνάμει πολεμισται̃ς δυνάμεως τετρακοσίαις χιλιάσιν ἀνδρω̃ν δυνατω̃ν καὶ Ιεροβοαμ παρετάξατο πρὸς αὐτὸν πόλεμον ἐν ὀκτακοσίαις χιλιάσιν δυνατοὶ πολεμισταὶ δυνάμεως (Ⅲ) - Cumque iniisset Abia certamen, et haberet bellicosissimos viros, et electorum quadringenta millia : Jeroboam instruxit econtra aciem octingenta millia virorum, qui et ipsi electi erant, et ad bella fortissimi.\ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃13 ויאסר אביה את המלחמה בחיל גבורי מלחמה ארבע מאות אלף איש בחור סוירבעם ערך עמו מלחמה בשמונה מאות אלף איש בחור גבור חיל ס (Ⅴ)

And Abijah stood up upon mount Zemaraim, which is in mount Ephraim, and said, Hear me, thou Jeroboam, and all Israel;
- Du haut du mont Tsemaraïm, qui fait partie de la montagne d'Éphraïm, Abija se leva et dit: Écoutez-moi, Jéroboam, et tout Israël! (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνέστη Αβια ἀπὸ του̃ ὄρους Σομορων ὅ ἐστιν ἐν τω̨̃ ὄρει Εφραιμ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀκούσατε Ιεροβοαμ καὶ πα̃ς Ισραηλ (Ⅲ) - Stetit ergo Abia super montem Semeron, qui erat in Ephraim, et ait : Audi, Jeroboam, et omnis Israël. (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃13 ויקם אביה מעל להר צמרים אשר בהר אפרים ויאמר שמעוני ירבעם וכל ישראל (Ⅴ)

Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
- Ne devez-vous pas savoir que l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, a donné pour toujours à David la royauté sur Israël, à lui et à ses fils, par une alliance inviolable? (Ⅱ) - οὐχ ὑμι̃ν γνω̃ναι ὅτι κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ἔδωκεν βασιλείαν ἐπὶ τὸν Ισραηλ εἰς τὸν αἰω̃να τω̨̃ Δαυιδ καὶ τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς αὐτου̃ διαθήκην ἁλός (Ⅲ) - Num ignoratis quod Dominus Deus Israël dederit regnum David super Israël in sempiternum, ipsi et filiis ejus in pactum salis ? (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃13 הלא לכם לדעת כי יהוה אלהי ישראל נתן ממלכה לדויד על ישראל לעולם לו ולבניו ברית מלח ס (Ⅴ)

Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, is risen up, and hath rebelled against his lord.
- Mais Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, serviteur de Salomon, fils de David, s'est levé et s'est révolté contre son maître. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνέστη Ιεροβοαμ ὁ του̃ Ναβατ ὁ παι̃ς Σαλωμων του̃ Δαυιδ καὶ ἀπέστη ἀπὸ του̃ κυρίου αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et surrexit Jeroboam filius Nabat, servus Salomonis filii David, et rebellavit contra dominum suum. (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃13 ויקם ירבעם בן נבט עבד שלמה בן דויד וימרד על אדניו (Ⅴ)

And there are gathered unto him vain men, the children of Belial, and have strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.
- Des gens de rien, des hommes pervers, se sont rassemblés auprès de lui et l'ont emporté sur Roboam, fils de Salomon. Roboam était jeune et craintif, et il manqua de force devant eux. (Ⅱ) - καὶ συνήχθησαν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἄνδρες λοιμοὶ υἱοὶ παράνομοι καὶ ἀντέστη πρὸς Ροβοαμ τὸν του̃ Σαλωμων καὶ Ροβοαμ ἠ̃ν νεώτερος καὶ δειλὸς τη̨̃ καρδία̨ καὶ οὐκ ἀντέστη κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Congregatique sunt ad eum viri vanissimi, et filii Belial, et prævaluerunt contra Roboam filium Salomonis : porro Roboam erat rudis, et corde pavido, nec potuit resistere eis. (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃13 ויקבצו עליו אנשים רקים בני בליעל ויתאמצו על רחבעם בן שלמה ורחבעם היה נער ורך לבב ולא התחזק לפניהם (Ⅴ)

And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and ye be a great multitude, and there are with your golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods.
- Et maintenant, vous pensez triompher du royaume de l'Éternel, qui est entre les mains des fils de David; et vous êtes une multitude nombreuse, et vous avez avec vous les veaux d'or que Jéroboam vous a faits pour dieux. (Ⅱ) - καὶ νυ̃ν λέγετε ὑμει̃ς ἀντιστη̃ναι κατὰ πρόσωπον βασιλείας κυρίου διὰ χειρὸς υἱω̃ν Δαυιδ καὶ ὑμει̃ς πλη̃θος πολύ καὶ μεθ' ὑμω̃ν μόσχοι χρυσοι̃ οὓς ἐποίησεν ὑμι̃ν Ιεροβοαμ εἰς θεούς (Ⅲ) - Nunc ergo vos dicitis quod resistere possitis regno Domini, quod possidet per filios David, habetisque grandem populi multitudinem, atque vitulos aureos quos fecit vobis Jeroboam in deos. (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃13 ועתה אתם אמרים להתחזק לפני ממלכת יהוה ביד בני דויד ואתם המון רב ועמכם עגלי זהב אשר עשה לכם ירבעם לאלהים (Ⅴ)

Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods.
- N'avez-vous pas repoussé les sacrificateurs de l'Éternel, les fils d'Aaron et les Lévites, et ne vous êtes-vous pas fait des sacrificateurs, comme les peuples des autres pays? Quiconque venait avec un jeune taureau et sept béliers, afin d'être consacré, devenait sacrificateur de ce qui n'est point Dieu. (Ⅱ) - ἠ̃ οὐκ ἐξεβάλετε τοὺς ἱερει̃ς κυρίου τοὺς υἱοὺς Ααρων καὶ τοὺς Λευίτας καὶ ἐποιήσατε ἑαυτοι̃ς ἱερει̃ς ἐκ του̃ λαου̃ τη̃ς γη̃ς πα̃ς ὁ προσπορευόμενος πληρω̃σαι τὰς χει̃ρας ἐν μόσχω̨ ἐκ βοω̃ν καὶ κριοι̃ς ἑπτὰ καὶ ἐγίνετο εἰς ἱερέα τω̨̃ μὴ ὄντι θεω̨̃ (Ⅲ) - Et ejecistis sacerdotes Domini, filios Aaron, atque Levitas, et fecistis vobis sacerdotes sicut omnes populi terrarum : quicumque venerit, et initiaverit manum suam in tauro de bobus, et in arietibus septem, fit sacerdos eorum qui non sunt dii. (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃13 הלא הדחתם את כהני יהוה את בני אהרן והלוים ותעשו לכם כהנים כעמי הארצות כל הבא למלא ידו בפר בן בקר ואילם שבעה והיה כהן ללא אלהים ס (Ⅴ)

But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the LORD, are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites wait upon their business:
- Mais pour nous, l'Éternel est notre Dieu, et nous ne l'avons point abandonné, les sacrificateurs au service de l'Éternel sont fils d'Aaron, et les Lévites remplissent leurs fonctions. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἡμει̃ς κύριον τὸν θεὸν ἡμω̃ν οὐκ ἐγκατελίπομεν καὶ οἱ ἱερει̃ς αὐτου̃ λειτουργου̃σιν τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ οἱ υἱοὶ Ααρων καὶ οἱ Λευι̃ται ἐν ται̃ς ἐφημερίαις αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Noster autem Dominus, Deus est, quem non relinquimus, sacerdotesque ministrant Domino, de filiis Aaron, et Levitæ sunt in ordine suo : (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃13 ואנחנו יהוה אלהינו ולא עזבנהו וכהנים משרתים ליהוה בני אהרן והלוים במלאכת (Ⅴ)

And they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but ye have forsaken him.
- Nous offrons chaque matin et chaque soir des holocaustes à l'Éternel, nous brûlons le parfum odoriférant, nous mettons les pains de proposition sur la table pure, et nous allumons chaque soir le chandelier d'or et ses lampes; car nous observons les commandements de l'Éternel, notre Dieu. Et vous, vous l'avez abandonné. (Ⅱ) - θυμιω̃σιν τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ ὁλοκαυτώματα πρωὶ καὶ δείλης καὶ θυμίαμα συνθέσεως καὶ προθέσεις ἄρτων ἐπὶ τη̃ς τραπέζης τη̃ς καθαρα̃ς καὶ ἡ λυχνία ἡ χρυση̃ καὶ οἱ λυχνοὶ τη̃ς καύσεως ἀνάψαι δείλης ὅτι φυλάσσομεν ἡμει̃ς τὰς φυλακὰς κυρίου του̃ θεου̃ τω̃ν πατέρων ἡμω̃ν καὶ ὑμει̃ς ἐγκατελίπετε αὐτόν (Ⅲ) - holocausta quoque offerunt Domino per singulos dies mane et vespere, et thymiama juxta legis præcepta confectum, et proponuntur panes in mensa mundissima, estque apud nos candelabrum aureum, et lucernæ ejus, ut accendantur semper ad vesperam : nos quippe custodimus præcepta Domini Dei nostri, quem vos reliquistis. (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃13 ומקטרים ליהוה עלות בבקר בבקר ובערב בערב וקטרת סמים ומערכת לחם על השלחן הטהור ומנורת הזהב ונרתיה לבער בערב בערב כי שמרים אנחנו את משמרת יהוה אלהינו ואתם עזבתם אתו (Ⅴ)

And, behold, God himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.
- Voici, Dieu et ses sacrificateurs sont avec nous, à notre tête, et nous avons les trompettes retentissantes pour les faire résonner contre vous. Enfants d'Israël! ne faites pas la guerre à l'Éternel, le Dieu de vos pères, car vous n'auriez aucun succès. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἰδοὺ μεθ' ἡμω̃ν ἐν ἀρχη̨̃ κύριος καὶ οἱ ἱερει̃ς αὐτου̃ καὶ αἱ σάλπιγγες τη̃ς σημασίας του̃ σημαίνειν ἐφ' ὑμα̃ς οἱ υἱοὶ του̃ Ισραηλ πολεμήσετε πρὸς κύριον θεὸν τω̃ν πατέρων ἡμω̃ν ὅτι οὐκ εὐοδωθήσεται ὑμι̃ν (Ⅲ) - Ergo in exercitu nostro dux Deus est, et sacerdotes ejus, qui clangunt tubis, et resonant contra vos : filii Israël, nolite pugnare contra Dominum Deum patrum vestrorum, quia non vobis expedit.\ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃13 והנה עמנו בראש האלהים וכהניו וחצצרות התרועה להריע עליכם בני ישראל אל תלחמו עם יהוה אלהי אבתיכם כי לא תצליחו (Ⅴ)

But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them.
- Jéroboam les prit par derrière au moyen d'une embuscade, et ses troupes étaient en face de Juda, qui avait l'embuscade par derrière. (Ⅱ) - καὶ Ιεροβοαμ ἀπέστρεψεν τὸ ἔνεδρον ἐλθει̃ν αὐτω̃ν ἐκ τω̃ν ὄπισθεν καὶ ἐγένετο ἔμπροσθεν Ιουδα καὶ τὸ ἔνεδρον ἐκ τω̃ν ὄπισθεν (Ⅲ) - Hæc illo loquente, Jeroboam retro moliebatur insidias. Cumque ex adverso hostium staret, ignorantem Judam suo ambiebat exercitu. (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃13 וירבעם הסב את המארב לבוא מאחריהם ויהיו לפני יהודה והמארב מאחריהם (Ⅴ)

And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind: and they cried unto the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.
- Ceux de Juda s'étant retournés eurent à combattre devant et derrière. Ils crièrent à l'Éternel, et les sacrificateurs sonnèrent des trompettes. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν Ιουδας καὶ ἰδοὺ αὐτοι̃ς ὁ πόλεμος ἐκ τω̃ν ἔμπροσθεν καὶ ἐκ τω̃ν ὄπισθεν καὶ ἐβόησαν πρὸς κύριον καὶ οἱ ἱερει̃ς ἐσάλπισαν ται̃ς σάλπιγξιν (Ⅲ) - Respiciensque Judas, vidit instare bellum ex adverso et post tergum, et clamavit ad Dominum, ac sacerdotes tubis canere cœperunt. (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃13 ויפנו יהודה והנה להם המלחמה פנים ואחור ויצעקו ליהוה והכהנים *מחצצרים **מחצרים בחצצרות (Ⅴ)

Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
- Les hommes de Juda poussèrent un cri de guerre et, au cri de guerre des hommes de Juda, l'Éternel frappa Jéroboam et tout Israël devant Abija et Juda. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐβόησαν ἄνδρες Ιουδα καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τω̨̃ βοα̃ν ἄνδρας Ιουδα καὶ κύριος ἐπάταξεν τὸν Ιεροβοαμ καὶ τὸν Ισραηλ ἐναντίον Αβια καὶ Ιουδα (Ⅲ) - Omnesque viri Juda vociferati sunt : et ecce illis clamantibus, perterruit Deus Jeroboam, et omnem Israël qui stabat ex adverso Abia et Juda. (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃13 ויריעו איש יהודה ויהי בהריע איש יהודה והאלהים נגף את ירבעם וכל ישראל לפני אביה ויהודה (Ⅴ)

And the children of Israel fled before Judah: and God delivered them into their hand.
- Les enfants d'Israël s'enfuirent devant Juda, et Dieu les livra entre ses mains. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔφυγον οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἀπὸ προσώπου Ιουδα καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς κύριος εἰς τὰς χει̃ρας αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Fugeruntque filii Israël Judam, et tradidit eos Deus in manu eorum. (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃13 וינוסו בני ישראל מפני יהודה ויתנם אלהים בידם (Ⅴ)

And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.
- Abija et son peuple leur firent éprouver une grande défaite, et cinq cent mille hommes d'élite tombèrent morts parmi ceux d'Israël. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπάταξεν ἐν αὐτοι̃ς Αβια καὶ ὁ λαὸς αὐτου̃ πληγὴν μεγάλην καὶ ἔπεσον τραυματίαι ἀπὸ Ισραηλ πεντακόσιαι χιλιάδες ἄνδρες δυνατοί (Ⅲ) - Percussit ergo eos Abia et populus ejus plaga magna : et corruerunt vulnerati ex Israël quingenta millia virorum fortium. (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃13 ויכו בהם אביה ועמו מכה רבה ויפלו חללים מישראל חמש מאות אלף איש בחור (Ⅴ)

Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD God of their fathers.
- Les enfants d'Israël furent humiliés en ce temps, et les enfants de Juda remportèrent la victoire, parce qu'ils s'étaient appuyés sur l'Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐταπεινώθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ καὶ κατίσχυσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ιουδα ὅτι ἤλπισαν ἐπὶ κύριον θεὸν τω̃ν πατέρων αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Humiliatique sunt filii Israël in tempore illo, et vehementissime confortati filii Juda, eo quod sperassent in Domino Deo patrum suorum. (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃13 ויכנעו בני ישראל בעת ההיא ויאמצו בני יהודה כי נשענו על יהוה אלהי אבותיהם (Ⅴ)

And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephraim with the towns thereof.
- Abija poursuivit Jéroboam et lui prit des villes, Béthel et les villes de son ressort, Jeschana et les villes de son ressort, et Éphron et les villes de son ressort. (Ⅱ) - καὶ κατεδίωξεν Αβια ὀπίσω Ιεροβοαμ καὶ προκατελάβετο παρ' αὐτου̃ πόλεις τὴν Βαιθηλ καὶ τὰς κώμας αὐτη̃ς καὶ τὴν Ισανα καὶ τὰς κώμας αὐτη̃ς καὶ τὴν Εφρων καὶ τὰς κώμας αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Persecutus est autem Abia fugientem Jeroboam, et cepit civitates ejus, Bethel et filias ejus, et Jesana cum filiabus suis, Ephron quoque et filias ejus : (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃13 וירדף אביה אחרי ירבעם וילכד ממנו ערים את בית אל ואת בנותיה ואת ישנה ואת בנותיה ואת *עפרון **עפרין ובנתיה (Ⅴ)

Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah: and the LORD struck him, and he died.
- Jéroboam n'eut plus de force du temps d'Abija; et l'Éternel le frappa, et il mourut. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οὐκ ἔσχεν ἰσχὺν Ιεροβοαμ ἔτι πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας Αβια καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν κύριος καὶ ἐτελεύτησεν (Ⅲ) - nec valuit ultra resistere Jeroboam in diebus Abia : quem percussit Dominus, et mortuus est. (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃13 ולא עצר כח ירבעם עוד בימי אביהו ויגפהו יהוה וימת פ (Ⅴ)

But Abijah waxed mighty, and married fourteen wives, and begat twenty and two sons, and sixteen daughters.
- Mais Abija devint puissant; il eut quatorze femmes, et engendra vingt-deux fils et seize filles. (Ⅱ) - καὶ κατίσχυσεν Αβια καὶ ἔλαβεν ἑαυτω̨̃ γυναι̃κας δέκα τέσσαρας καὶ ἐγέννησεν υἱοὺς εἴκοσι δύο καὶ θυγατέρας δέκα ἕξ (Ⅲ) - Igitur Abia, confortato imperio suo, accepit uxores quatuordecim : procreavitque viginti duos filios, et sedecim filias. (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃13 ויתחזק אביהו וישא לו נשים ארבע עשרה ויולד עשרים ושנים בנים ושש עשרה בנות ס (Ⅴ)

And the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the story of the prophet Iddo.
- Le reste des actions d'Abija, ce qu'il a fait et ce qu'il a dit, cela est écrit dans les mémoires du prophète Iddo. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ λόγοι Αβια καὶ αἱ πράξεις αὐτου̃ καὶ οἱ λόγοι αὐτου̃ γεγραμμένοι ἐπὶ βιβλίω̨ του̃ προφήτου Αδδω (Ⅲ) - Reliqua autem sermonum Abia, viarumque et operum ejus, scripta sunt diligentissime in libro Addo prophetæ. (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃13 ויתר דברי אביה ודרכיו ודבריו כתובים במדרש הנביא עדו (Ⅴ)
