Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;

Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.

Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.
- Éternel, garantis-moi des mains du méchant! Préserve-moi des hommes violents, Qui méditent de me faire tomber! (Ⅱ) - φύλαξόν με κύριε ἐκ χειρὸς ἁμαρτωλου̃ ἀπὸ ἀνθρώπων ἀδίκων ἐξελου̃ με οἵτινες ἐλογίσαντο ὑποσκελίσαι τὰ διαβήματά μου (Ⅲ) - Custodi me, Domine, de manu peccatoris,/ et ab hominibus iniquis eripe me./ Qui cogitaverunt supplantare gressus meos :/ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃140 שמרני יהוה מידי רשע מאיש חמסים תנצרני אשר חשבו לדחות פעמי (Ⅴ)

The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.

O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.
- Éternel, n'accomplis pas les désirs du méchant, Ne laisse pas réussir ses projets, de peur qu'il ne s'en glorifie! Pause. (Ⅱ) - μὴ παραδω̨̃ς με κύριε ἀπὸ τη̃ς ἐπιθυμίας μου ἁμαρτωλω̨̃ διελογίσαντο κατ' ἐμου̃ μὴ ἐγκαταλίπη̨ς με μήποτε ὑψωθω̃σιν διάψαλμα (Ⅲ) - Ne tradas me, Domine, a desiderio meo peccatori :/ cogitaverunt contra me ;/ ne derelinquas me, ne forte exaltentur./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃140 אל תתן יהוה מאויי רשע זממו אל תפק ירומו סלה (Ⅴ)

As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.
- Que des charbons ardents soient jetés sur eux! Qu'il les précipite dans le feu, Dans des abîmes, d'où ils ne se relèvent plus! Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
- L'homme dont la langue est fausse ne s'affermit pas sur la terre; Et l'homme violent, le malheur l'entraîne à sa perte. (Ⅱ) - ἀνὴρ γλωσσώδης οὐ κατευθυνθήσεται ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς ἄνδρα ἄδικον κακὰ θηρεύσει εἰς διαφθοράν (Ⅲ) - Vir linguosus non dirigetur in terra ;/ virum injustum mala capient in interitu./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃140 איש לשון בל יכון בארץ איש חמס רע יצודנו למדחפת (Ⅴ)

I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.
- Je sais que l'Éternel fait droit au misérable, Justice aux indigents. (Ⅱ) - ἔγνων ὅτι ποιήσει κύριος τὴν κρίσιν του̃ πτωχου̃ καὶ τὴν δίκην τω̃ν πενήτων (Ⅲ) - Cognovi quia faciet Dominus judicium inopis,/ et vindictam pauperum./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃140 *ידעת **ידעתי כי יעשה יהוה דין עני משפט אבינים (Ⅴ)

Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.
- Oui, les justes célébreront ton nom, Les hommes droits habiteront devant ta face. (Ⅱ) - πλὴν δίκαιοι ἐξομολογήσονται τω̨̃ ὀνόματί σου καὶ κατοικήσουσιν εὐθει̃ς σὺν τω̨̃ προσώπω̨ σου (Ⅲ) - Verumtamen justi confitebuntur nomini tuo,/ et habitabunt recti cum vultu tuo.] (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃140 אך צדיקים יודו לשמך ישבו ישרים את פניך (Ⅴ)
