The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
- Oracle sur Damas. Voici, Damas ne sera plus une ville, Elle ne sera qu'un monceau de ruines. (Ⅱ) - τὸ ῥη̃μα τὸ κατὰ Δαμασκου̃ ἰδοὺ Δαμασκὸς ἀρθήσεται ἀπὸ πόλεων καὶ ἔσται εἰς πτω̃σιν (Ⅲ) - Onus Damasci. [Ecce Damascus desinet esse civitas,/ et erit sicut acervus lapidum in ruina./ (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃17 משא דמשק הנה דמשק מוסר מעיר והיתה מעי מפלה (Ⅴ)

The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
- Les villes d'Aroër sont abandonnées, Elles sont livrées aux troupeaux; Ils s'y couchent, et personne ne les effraie. (Ⅱ) - καταλελειμμένη εἰς τὸν αἰω̃να εἰς κοίτην ποιμνίων καὶ ἀνάπαυσιν καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ διώκων (Ⅲ) - Derelictæ civitates Aroër/ gregibus erunt,/ et requiescent ibi, et non erit qui exterreat./ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃17 עזבות ערי ערער לעדרים תהיינה ורבצו ואין מחריד (Ⅴ)

The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.
- C'en est fait de la forteresse d'Éphraïm, Et du royaume de Damas, et du reste de la Syrie: Il en sera comme de la gloire des enfants d'Israël, Dit l'Éternel des armées. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οὐκέτι ἔσται ὀχυρὰ του̃ καταφυγει̃ν Εφραιμ καὶ οὐκέτι ἔσται βασιλεία ἐν Δαμασκω̨̃ καὶ τὸ λοιπὸν τω̃ν Σύρων ἀπολει̃ται οὐ γὰρ σὺ βελτίων εἰ̃ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ καὶ τη̃ς δόξης αὐτω̃ν τάδε λέγει κύριος σαβαωθ (Ⅲ) - Et cessabit adjutorium ab Ephraim,/ et regnum a Damasco ;/ et reliquiæ Syriæ/ sicut gloria filiorum Israël erunt,/ dicit Dominus exercituum./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃17 ונשבת מבצר מאפרים וממלכה מדמשק ושאר ארם ככבוד בני ישראל יהיו נאם יהוה צבאות ס (Ⅴ)

And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.
- En ce jour, la gloire de Jacob sera affaiblie, Et la graisse de sa chair s'évanouira. (Ⅱ) - ἔσται ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ ἔκλειψις τη̃ς δόξης Ιακωβ καὶ τὰ πίονα τη̃ς δόξης αὐτου̃ σεισθήσεται (Ⅲ) - Et erit in die illa :/ attenuabitur gloria Jacob,/ et pinguedo carnis ejus marcescet./ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃17 והיה ביום ההוא ידל כבוד יעקב ומשמן בשרו ירזה (Ⅴ)

And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.
- Il en sera comme quand le moissonneur récolte les blés, Et que son bras coupe les épis; Comme quand on ramasse les épis, Dans la vallée de Rephaïm. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσται ὃν τρόπον ἐάν τις συναγάγη̨ ἀμητὸν ἑστηκότα καὶ σπέρμα σταχύων ἐν τω̨̃ βραχίονι αὐτου̃ ἀμήση̨ καὶ ἔσται ὃν τρόπον ἐάν τις συναγάγη̨ στάχυν ἐν φάραγγι στερεα̨̃ (Ⅲ) - Et erit sicut congregans in messe quod restiterit,/ et brachium ejus spicas leget ;/ et erit sicut quærens spicas/ in valle Raphaim./ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃17 והיה כאסף קציר קמה וזרעו שבלים יקצור והיה כמלקט שבלים בעמק רפאים (Ⅴ)

Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.
- Il en restera un grappillage, comme quand on secoue l'olivier, Deux, trois olives, au haut de la cime, Quatre, cinq, dans ses branches à fruits, Dit l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël. (Ⅱ) - καὶ καταλειφθη̨̃ ἐν αὐτη̨̃ καλάμη ἢ ὡς ῥω̃γες ἐλαίας δύο ἢ τρει̃ς ἐπ' ἄκρου μετεώρου ἢ τέσσαρες ἢ πέντε ἐπὶ τω̃ν κλάδων αὐτω̃ν καταλειφθη̨̃ τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ (Ⅲ) - Et relinquetur in eo sicut racemus et sicut excussio oleæ/ duarum vel trium olivarum in summitate rami,/ sive quatuor aut quinque in cacuminibus ejus fructus ejus,/ dicit Dominus Deus Israël./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃17 ונשאר בו עוללת כנקף זית שנים שלשה גרגרים בראש אמיר ארבעה חמשה בסעפיה פריה נאם יהוה אלהי ישראל ס (Ⅴ)

At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
- En ce jour, l'homme regardera vers son créateur, Et ses yeux se tourneront vers le Saint d'Israël; (Ⅱ) - τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ πεποιθὼς ἔσται ἄνθρωπος ἐπὶ τω̨̃ ποιήσαντι αὐτόν οἱ δὲ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτου̃ εἰς τὸν ἅγιον του̃ Ισραηλ ἐμβλέψονται (Ⅲ) - In die illa inclinabitur homo ad/ factorem suum,/ et oculi ejus ad Sanctum Israël respicient ;/ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃17 ביום ההוא ישעה האדם על עשהו ועיניו אל קדוש ישראל תראינה (Ⅴ)

And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.
- Il ne regardera plus vers les autels, Ouvrage de ses mains, Et il ne contemplera plus ce que ses doigts ont fabriqué, Les idoles d'Astarté et les statues du soleil. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οὐ μὴ πεποιθότες ὠ̃σιν ἐπὶ τοι̃ς βωμοι̃ς οὐδὲ ἐπὶ τοι̃ς ἔργοις τω̃ν χειρω̃ν αὐτω̃ν ἃ ἐποίησαν οἱ δάκτυλοι αὐτω̃ν καὶ οὐκ ὄψονται τὰ δένδρα αὐτω̃ν οὐδὲ τὰ βδελύγματα αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - et non inclinabitur ad altaria quæ fecerunt manus ejus ;/ et quæ operati sunt digiti ejus non respiciet/ lucos et delubra./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃17 ולא ישעה אל המזבחות מעשה ידיו ואשר עשו אצבעתיו לא יראה והאשרים והחמנים (Ⅴ)

In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.
- En ce jour, ses villes fortes seront Comme des débris dans la forêt et sur la cime des montagnes, Abandonnés devant les enfants d'Israël: Et ce sera un désert. (Ⅱ) - τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ ἔσονται αἱ πόλεις σου ἐγκαταλελειμμέναι ὃν τρόπον ἐγκατέλιπον οἱ Αμορραι̃οι καὶ οἱ Ευαι̃οι ἀπὸ προσώπου τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ καὶ ἔσονται ἔρημοι (Ⅲ) - In die illa erunt civitates fortitudinis ejus/ derelictæ sicut aratra, et segetes/ quæ derelictæ sunt a facie filiorum Israël ;/ et eris deserta./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃17 ביום ההוא יהיו ערי מעזו כעזובת החרש והאמיר אשר עזבו מפני בני ישראל והיתה שממה (Ⅴ)

Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:
- Car tu as oublié le Dieu de ton salut, Tu ne t'es pas souvenu du rocher de ton refuge. Aussi tu as fait des plantations d'agrément, Tu as planté des ceps étrangers; (Ⅱ) - διότι κατέλιπες τὸν θεὸν τὸν σωτη̃ρά σου καὶ κυρίου του̃ βοηθου̃ σου οὐκ ἐμνήσθης διὰ του̃το φυτεύσεις φύτευμα ἄπιστον καὶ σπέρμα ἄπιστον (Ⅲ) - Quia oblitus es Dei salvatoris tui,/ et fortis adjutoris tui non es recordata :/ propterea plantabis plantationem fidelem,/ et germen alienum seminabis ;/ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃17 כי שכחת אלהי ישעך וצור מעזך לא זכרת על כן תטעי נטעי נעמנים וזמרת זר תזרענו (Ⅴ)

In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
- Lorsque tu les plantas, tu les entouras d'une haie, Et bientôt tu les fis venir en fleurs. Mais la récolte a fui, au moment de la jouissance: Et la douleur est sans remède. (Ⅱ) - τη̨̃ δὲ ἡμέρα̨ ἡ̨̃ ἂν φυτεύση̨ς πλανηθήση̨ τὸ δὲ πρωί ἐὰν σπείρη̨ς ἀνθήσει εἰς ἀμητὸν ἡ̨̃ ἂν ἡμέρα̨ κληρώση̨ καὶ ὡς πατὴρ ἀνθρώπου κληρώση̨ τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς σου (Ⅲ) - in die plantationis tuæ labrusca,/ et mane semen tuum florebit ;/ ablata est messis in die hæreditatis,/ et dolebit graviter./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃17 ביום נטעך תשגשגי ובבקר זרעך תפריחי נד קציר ביום נחלה וכאב אנוש ס (Ⅴ)

Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
- Oh! quelle rumeur de peuples nombreux! Ils mugissent comme mugit la mer. Quel tumulte de nations! Elles grondent comme grondent les eaux puissantes. (Ⅱ) - οὐαὶ πλη̃θος ἐθνω̃ν πολλω̃ν ὡς θάλασσα κυμαίνουσα οὕτως ταραχθήσεσθε καὶ νω̃τος ἐθνω̃ν πολλω̃ν ὡς ὕδωρ ἠχήσει (Ⅲ) - Væ multitudini populorum multorum,/ ut multitudo maris sonantis ;/ et tumultus turbarum,/ sicut sonitus aquarum multarum./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃17 הוי המון עמים רבים כהמות ימים יהמיון ושאון לאמים כשאון מים כבירים ישאון (Ⅴ)

The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.
- Les nations grondent comme grondent les grandes eaux... Il les menace, et elles fuient au loin, Chassées comme la balle des montagnes au souffle du vent, Comme la poussière par un tourbillon. (Ⅱ) - ὡς ὕδωρ πολὺ ἔθνη πολλά ὡς ὕδατος πολλου̃ βία̨ καταφερομένου καὶ ἀποσκορακιει̃ αὐτὸν καὶ πόρρω αὐτὸν διώξεται ὡς χνου̃ν ἀχύρου λικμώντων ἀπέναντι ἀνέμου καὶ ὡς κονιορτὸν τροχου̃ καταιγὶς φέρουσα (Ⅲ) - Sonabunt populi sicut sonitus aquarum inundantium,/ et increpabit eum, et fugiet procul ;/ et rapietur sicut pulvis montium a facie venti,/ et sicut turbo coram tempestate./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃17 לאמים כשאון מים רבים ישאון וגער בו ונס ממרחק ורדף כמץ הרים לפני רוח וכגלגל לפני סופה (Ⅴ)

And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
- Quand vient le soir, voici, c'est une ruine soudaine; Avant le matin, ils ne sont plus! Voilà le partage de ceux qui nous dépouillent, Le sort de ceux qui nous pillent. (Ⅱ) - πρὸς ἑσπέραν ἔσται πένθος πρὶν ἢ πρωὶ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται αὕτη ἡ μερὶς τω̃ν ὑμα̃ς προνομευσάντων καὶ κληρονομία τοι̃ς ὑμα̃ς κληρονομήσασιν (Ⅲ) - In tempore vespere, et ecce turbatio ;/ in matutino, et non subsistet./ Hæc est pars eorum qui vastaverunt nos,/ et sors diripientium nos.] (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃17 לעת ערב והנה בלהה בטרם בקר איננו זה חלק שוסינו וגורל לבזזינו ס (Ⅴ)
