And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.
- Bien des jours s'écoulèrent, et la parole de l'Éternel fut ainsi adressée à Élie, dans la troisième année: Va, présente-toi devant Achab, et je ferai tomber de la pluie sur la face du sol. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο μεθ' ἡμέρας πολλὰς καὶ ῥη̃μα κυρίου ἐγένετο πρὸς Ηλιου ἐν τω̨̃ ἐνιαυτω̨̃ τω̨̃ τρίτω̨ λέγων πορεύθητι καὶ ὄφθητι τω̨̃ Αχααβ καὶ δώσω ὑετὸν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Post dies multos factum est verbum Domini ad Eliam, in anno tertio, dicens : Vade, et ostende te Achab, ut dem pluviam super faciem terræ. (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃18 ויהי ימים רבים ודבר יהוה היה אל אליהו בשנה השלישית לאמר לך הראה אל אחאב ואתנה מטר על פני האדמה (Ⅴ)

And Elijah went to show himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria.
- Et Élie alla, pour se présenter devant Achab. La famine était grande à Samarie. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπορεύθη Ηλιου του̃ ὀφθη̃ναι τω̨̃ Αχααβ καὶ ἡ λιμὸς κραταιὰ ἐν Σαμαρεία̨ (Ⅲ) - Ivit ergo Elias, ut ostenderet se Achab : erat autem fames vehemens in Samaria. And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:
- Et Achab fit appeler Abdias, chef de sa maison. -Or Abdias craignait beaucoup l'Éternel; (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Αχααβ τὸν Αβδιου τὸν οἰκονόμον καὶ Αβδιου ἠ̃ν φοβούμενος τὸν κύριον σφόδρα (Ⅲ) - Vocavitque Achab Abdiam dispensatorem domus suæ : Abdias autem timebat Dominum valde. (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃18 ויקרא אחאב אל עבדיהו אשר על הבית ועבדיהו היה ירא את יהוה מאד (Ⅴ)

For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)
- et lorsque Jézabel extermina les prophètes de l'Éternel, Abdias prit cent prophètes qu'il cacha cinquante par cinquante dans une caverne, et il les avait nourris de pain et d'eau. - (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τω̨̃ τύπτειν τὴν Ιεζαβελ τοὺς προφήτας κυρίου καὶ ἔλαβεν Αβδιου ἑκατὸν ἄνδρας προφήτας καὶ ἔκρυψεν αὐτοὺς κατὰ πεντήκοντα ἐν σπηλαίω̨ καὶ διέτρεφεν αὐτοὺς ἐν ἄρτω̨ καὶ ὕδατι (Ⅲ) - Nam cum interficeret Jezabel prophetas Domini, tulit ille centum prophetas, et abscondit eos quinquagenos et quinquagenos in speluncis, et pavit eos pane et aqua. (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃18 ויהי בהכרית איזבל את נביאי יהוה ויקח עבדיהו מאה נבאים ויחביאם חמשים איש במערה וכלכלם לחם ומים (Ⅴ)

And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.
- Achab dit à Abdias: Va par le pays vers toutes les sources d'eau et vers tous les torrents; peut-être se trouvera-t-il de l'herbe, et nous conserverons la vie aux chevaux et aux mulets, et nous n'aurons pas besoin d'abattre du bétail. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αχααβ πρὸς Αβδιου δευ̃ρο καὶ διέλθωμεν ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν ἐπὶ πηγὰς τω̃ν ὑδάτων καὶ ἐπὶ χειμάρρους ἐάν πως εὕρωμεν βοτάνην καὶ περιποιησώμεθα ἵππους καὶ ἡμιόνους καὶ οὐκ ἐξολοθρευθήσονται ἀπὸ τω̃ν κτηνω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Dixit ergo Achab ad Abdiam : Vade in terram ad universos fontes aquarum, et in cunctas valles, si forte possimus invenire herbam, et salvare equos et mulos, et non penitus jumenta intereant. (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃18 ויאמר אחאב אל עבדיהו לך בארץ אל כל מעיני המים ואל כל הנחלים אולי נמצא חציר ונחיה סוס ופרד ולוא נכרית מהבהמה (Ⅴ)

So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.
- Ils se partagèrent le pays pour le parcourir; Achab alla seul par un chemin, et Abdias alla seul par un autre chemin. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐμέρισαν ἑαυτοι̃ς τὴν ὁδὸν του̃ διελθει̃ν αὐτήν Αχααβ ἐπορεύθη ἐν ὁδω̨̃ μια̨̃ μόνος καὶ Αβδιου ἐπορεύθη ἐν ὁδω̨̃ ἄλλη̨ μόνος (Ⅲ) - Diviseruntque sibi regiones ut circuirent eas : Achab ibat per viam unam, et Abdias per viam alteram seorsum. (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃18 ויחלקו להם את הארץ לעבר בה אחאב הלך בדרך אחד לבדו ועבדיהו הלך בדרך אחד לבדו (Ⅴ)

And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Art thou that my lord Elijah?
- Comme Abdias était en route, voici, Élie le rencontra. Abdias, l'ayant reconnu, tomba sur son visage, et dit: Est-ce toi, mon seigneur Élie? (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἠ̃ν Αβδιου ἐν τη̨̃ ὁδω̨̃ μόνος καὶ ἠ̃λθεν Ηλιου εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτου̃ μόνος καὶ Αβδιου ἔσπευσεν καὶ ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν εἰ σὺ εἰ̃ αὐτός κύριέ μου Ηλιου (Ⅲ) - Cumque esset Abdias in via, Elias occurrit ei : qui cum cognovisset eum, cecidit super faciem suam, et ait : Num tu es, domine mi, Elias ? (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃18 ויהי עבדיהו בדרך והנה אליהו לקראתו ויכרהו ויפל על פניו ויאמר האתה זה אדני אליהו (Ⅴ)

And he answered him, I am: go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.
- Il lui répondit: C'est moi; va, dis à ton maître: Voici Élie! (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου αὐτω̨̃ ἐγώ πορεύου λέγε τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ σου ἰδοὺ Ηλιου (Ⅲ) - Cui ille respondit : Ego. Vade, et dic domino tuo : Adest Elias. (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃18 ויאמר לו אני לך אמר לאדניך הנה אליהו (Ⅴ)

And he said, What have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?
- Et Abdias dit: Quel péché ai-je commis, pour que tu livres ton serviteur entre les mains d'Achab, qui me fera mourir? (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αβδιου τί ἡμάρτηκα ὅτι δίδως τὸν δου̃λόν σου εἰς χει̃ρα Αχααβ του̃ θανατω̃σαί με (Ⅲ) - Et ille : Quid peccavi, inquit, quoniam tradis me servum tuum in manu Achab, ut interficiat me ? (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃18 ויאמר מה חטאתי כי אתה נתן את עבדך ביד אחאב להמיתני (Ⅴ)

As the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.
- L'Éternel est vivant! il n'est ni nation ni royaume où mon maître n'ait envoyé pour te chercher; et quand on disait que tu n'y étais pas, il faisait jurer le royaume et la nation que l'on ne t'avait pas trouvé. (Ⅱ) - ζη̨̃ κύριος ὁ θεός σου εἰ ἔστιν ἔθνος ἢ βασιλεία οὑ̃ οὐκ ἀπέσταλκεν ὁ κύριός μου ζητει̃ν σε καὶ εἰ̃πον οὐκ ἔστιν καὶ ἐνέπρησεν τὴν βασιλείαν καὶ τὰς χώρας αὐτη̃ς ὅτι οὐχ εὕρηκέν σε (Ⅲ) - Vivit Dominus Deus tuus, quia non est gens aut regnum quo non miserit dominus meus te requirens : et respondentibus cunctis : Non est hic : adjuravit regna singula et gentes, eo quod minime reperireris. (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃18 חי יהוה אלהיך אם יש גוי וממלכה אשר לא שלח אדני שם לבקשך ואמרו אין והשביע את הממלכה ואת הגוי כי לא ימצאכה (Ⅴ)

And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here.
- Et maintenant tu dis: Va, dis à ton maître: Voici Élie! (Ⅱ) - καὶ νυ̃ν σὺ λέγεις πορεύου ἀνάγγελλε τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ σου ἰδοὺ Ηλιου (Ⅲ) - Et nunc tu dicis mihi : Vade, et dic domino tuo : Adest Elias. (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃18 ועתה אתה אמר לך אמר לאדניך הנה אליהו (Ⅴ)

And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.
- Puis, lorsque je t'aurai quitté l'esprit de l'Éternel te transportera je ne sais où; et j'irai informer Achab, qui ne te trouvera pas, et qui me tuera. Cependant ton serviteur craint l'Éternel dès sa jeunesse. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν ἐγὼ ἀπέλθω ἀπὸ σου̃ καὶ πνευ̃μα κυρίου ἀρει̃ σε εἰς γη̃ν ἣν οὐκ οἰ̃δα καὶ εἰσελεύσομαι ἀπαγγει̃λαι τω̨̃ Αχααβ καὶ ἀποκτενει̃ με καὶ ὁ δου̃λός σού ἐστιν φοβούμενος τὸν κύριον ἐκ νεότητος αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Cumque recessero a te, spiritus Domini asportabit te in locum quem ego ignoro : et ingressus nuntiabo Achab, et non inveniens te, interficiet me : servus autem tuus timet Dominum ab infantia sua. (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃18 והיה אני אלך מאתך ורוח יהוה ישאך על אשר לא אדע ובאתי להגיד לאחאב ולא ימצאך והרגני ועבדך ירא את יהוה מנערי (Ⅴ)

Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?
- N'a-t-on pas dit à mon seigneur ce que j'ai fait quand Jézabel tua les prophètes de l'Éternel? J'ai caché cent prophètes de l'Éternel, cinquante par cinquante dans une caverne, et je les ai nourris de pain et d'eau. (Ⅱ) - ἠ̃ οὐκ ἀπηγγέλη σοι τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ μου οἱ̃α πεποίηκα ἐν τω̨̃ ἀποκτείνειν Ιεζαβελ τοὺς προφήτας κυρίου καὶ ἔκρυψα ἀπὸ τω̃ν προφητω̃ν κυρίου ἑκατὸν ἄνδρας ἀνὰ πεντήκοντα ἐν σπηλαίω̨ καὶ ἔθρεψα ἐν ἄρτοις καὶ ὕδατι (Ⅲ) - Numquid non indicatum est tibi domino meo quid fecerim cum interficeret Jezabel prophetas Domini, quod absconderim de prophetis Domini centum viros, quinquagenos et quinquagenos, in speluncis, et paverim eos pane et aqua ? And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself unto him to day.
- Mais Élie dit: L'Éternel des armées, dont je suis le serviteur, est vivant! aujourd'hui je me présenterai devant Achab. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου ζη̨̃ κύριος τω̃ν δυνάμεων ὡ̨̃ παρέστην ἐνώπιον αὐτου̃ ὅτι σήμερον ὀφθήσομαι αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ) - Et dixit Elias : Vivit Dominus exercituum, ante cujus vultum sto, quia hodie apparebo ei. (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃18 ויאמר אליהו חי יהוה צבאות אשר עמדתי לפניו כי היום אראה אליו (Ⅴ)

So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah.
- Abdias, étant allé à la rencontre d'Achab, l'informa de la chose. Et Achab se rendit au-devant d'Élie. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπορεύθη Αβδιου εἰς συναντὴν τω̨̃ Αχααβ καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ ἐξέδραμεν Αχααβ καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς συνάντησιν Ηλιου (Ⅲ) - Abiit ergo Abdias in occursum Achab, et indicavit ei : venitque Achab in occursum Eliæ. (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃18 וילך עבדיהו לקראת אחאב ויגד לו וילך אחאב לקראת אליהו (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?
- A peine Achab aperçut-il Élie qu'il lui dit: Est-ce toi, qui jettes le trouble en Israël? (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς εἰ̃δεν Αχααβ τὸν Ηλιου καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αχααβ πρὸς Ηλιου εἰ σὺ εἰ̃ αὐτὸς ὁ διαστρέφων τὸν Ισραηλ (Ⅲ) - Et cum vidisset eum, ait : Tune es ille, qui conturbas Israël ? (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃18 ויהי כראות אחאב את אליהו ויאמר אחאב אליו האתה זה עכר ישראל (Ⅴ)

And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.
- Élie répondit: Je ne trouble point Israël; c'est toi, au contraire, et la maison de ton père, puisque vous avez abandonné les commandements de l'Éternel et que tu es allé après les Baals. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου οὐ διαστρέφω τὸν Ισραηλ ὅτι ἀλλ' ἢ σὺ καὶ ὁ οἰ̃κος του̃ πατρός σου ἐν τω̨̃ καταλιμπάνειν ὑμα̃ς τὸν κύριον θεὸν ὑμω̃ν καὶ ἐπορεύθης ὀπίσω τω̃ν Βααλιμ (Ⅲ) - Et ille ait : Non ego turbavi Israël, sed tu, et domus patris tui, qui dereliquistis mandata Domini, et secuti estis Baalim.\ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃18 ויאמר לא עכרתי את ישראל כי אם אתה ובית אביך בעזבכם את מצות יהוה ותלך אחרי הבעלים (Ⅴ)

Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.
- Fais maintenant rassembler tout Israël auprès de moi, à la montagne du Carmel, et aussi les quatre cent cinquante prophètes de Baal et les quatre cents prophètes d'Astarté qui mangent à la table de Jézabel. (Ⅱ) - καὶ νυ̃ν ἀπόστειλον συνάθροισον πρός με πάντα Ισραηλ εἰς ὄρος τὸ Καρμήλιον καὶ τοὺς προφήτας τη̃ς αἰσχύνης τετρακοσίους καὶ πεντήκοντα καὶ τοὺς προφήτας τω̃ν ἀλσω̃ν τετρακοσίους ἐσθίοντας τράπεζαν Ιεζαβελ (Ⅲ) - Verumtamen nunc mitte, et congrega ad me universum Israël in monte Carmeli, et prophetas Baal quadringentos quinquaginta, prophetasque lucorum quadringentos, qui comedunt de mensa Jezabel. (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃18 ועתה שלח קבץ אלי את כל ישראל אל הר הכרמל ואת נביאי הבעל ארבע מאות וחמשים ונביאי האשרה ארבע מאות אכלי שלחן איזבל (Ⅴ)

So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.

(Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Αχααβ εἰς πάντα Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπισυνήγαγεν πάντας τοὺς προφήτας εἰς ὄρος τὸ Καρμήλιον (Ⅲ) - Misit Achab ad omnes filios Israël, et congregavit prophetas in monte Carmeli. (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃18 וישלח אחאב בכל בני ישראל ויקבץ את הנביאים אל הר הכרמל (Ⅴ)

And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
- Alors Élie s'approcha de tout le peuple, et dit: Jusqu'à quand clocherez-vous des deux côtés? Si l'Éternel est Dieu, allez après lui; si c'est Baal, allez après lui! Le peuple ne lui répondit rien. (Ⅱ) - καὶ προσήγαγεν Ηλιου πρὸς πάντας καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς Ηλιου ἕως πότε ὑμει̃ς χωλανει̃τε ἐπ' ἀμφοτέραις ται̃ς ἰγνύαις εἰ ἔστιν κύριος ὁ θεός πορεύεσθε ὀπίσω αὐτου̃ εἰ δὲ ὁ Βααλ αὐτός πορεύεσθε ὀπίσω αὐτου̃ καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ λαὸς λόγον (Ⅲ) - Accedens autem Elias ad omnem populum, ait : Usquequo claudicatis in duas partes ? si Dominus est Deus, sequimini eum : si autem Baal, sequimini illum. Et non respondit ei populus verbum. (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃18 ויגש אליהו אל כל העם ויאמר עד מתי אתם פסחים על שתי הסעפים אם יהוה האלהים לכו אחריו ואם הבעל לכו אחריו ולא ענו העם אתו דבר (Ⅴ)

Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men.
- Et Élie dit au peuple: Je suis resté seul des prophètes de l'Éternel, et il y a quatre cent cinquante prophètes de Baal. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου πρὸς τὸν λαόν ἐγὼ ὑπολέλειμμαι προφήτης του̃ κυρίου μονώτατος καὶ οἱ προφη̃ται του̃ Βααλ τετρακόσιοι καὶ πεντήκοντα ἄνδρες καὶ οἱ προφη̃ται του̃ ἄλσους τετρακόσιοι (Ⅲ) - Et ait rursus Elias ad populum : Ego remansi propheta Domini solus : prophetæ autem Baal quadringenti et quinquaginta viri sunt. (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃18 ויאמר אליהו אל העם אני נותרתי נביא ליהוה לבדי ונביאי הבעל ארבע מאות וחמשים איש (Ⅴ)

Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under:
- Que l'on nous donne deux taureaux; qu'ils choisissent pour eux l'un des taureaux, qu'ils le coupent par morceaux, et qu'ils le placent sur le bois, sans y mettre le feu; et moi, je préparerai l'autre taureau, et je le placerai sur le bois, sans y mettre le feu. (Ⅱ) - δότωσαν ἡμι̃ν δύο βόας καὶ ἐκλεξάσθωσαν ἑαυτοι̃ς τὸν ἕνα καὶ μελισάτωσαν καὶ ἐπιθέτωσαν ἐπὶ τω̃ν ξύλων καὶ πυ̃ρ μὴ ἐπιθέτωσαν καὶ ἐγὼ ποιήσω τὸν βου̃ν τὸν ἄλλον καὶ πυ̃ρ οὐ μὴ ἐπιθω̃ (Ⅲ) - Dentur nobis duo boves, et illi eligant sibi bovem unum, et in frusta cædentes ponant super ligna, ignem autem non supponant : et ego faciam bovem alterum, et imponam super ligna, ignem autem non supponam. (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃18 ויתנו לנו שנים פרים ויבחרו להם הפר האחד וינתחהו וישימו על העצים ואש לא ישימו ואני אעשה את הפר האחד ונתתי על העצים ואש לא אשים (Ⅴ)

And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
- Puis invoquez le nom de votre dieu; et moi, j'invoquerai le nom de l'Éternel. Le dieu qui répondra par le feu, c'est celui-là qui sera Dieu. Et tout le peuple répondit, en disant: C'est bien! And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.
- Élie dit aux prophètes de Baal: Choisissez pour vous l'un des taureaux, préparez-le les premiers, car vous êtes les plus nombreux, et invoquez le nom de votre dieu; mais ne mettez pas le feu. And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.
- Ils prirent le taureau qu'on leur donna, et le préparèrent; et ils invoquèrent le nom de Baal, depuis le matin jusqu'à midi, en disant: Baal réponds nous! Mais il n'y eut ni voix ni réponse. Et ils sautaient devant l'autel qu'ils avaient fait. And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.
- A midi, Élie se moqua d'eux, et dit: Criez à haute voix, puisqu'il est dieu; il pense à quelque chose, ou il est occupé, ou il est en voyage; peut-être qu'il dort, et il se réveillera. And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.
- Et ils crièrent à haute voix, et ils se firent, selon leur coutume, des incisions avec des épées et avec des lances, jusqu'à ce que le sang coulât sur eux. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπεκαλου̃ντο ἐν φωνη̨̃ μεγάλη̨ καὶ κατετέμνοντο κατὰ τὸν ἐθισμὸν αὐτω̃ν ἐν μαχαίραις καὶ σειρομάσταις ἕως ἐκχύσεως αἵματος ἐπ' αὐτούς (Ⅲ) - Clamabant ergo voce magna, et incidebant se juxta ritum suum cultris et lanceolis, donec perfunderentur sanguine. (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃18 ויקראו בקול גדול ויתגדדו כמשפטם בחרבות וברמחים עד שפך דם עליהם (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
- Lorsque midi fut passé, ils prophétisèrent jusqu'au moment de la présentation de l'offrande. Mais il n'y eut ni voix, ni réponse, ni signe d'attention. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπροφήτευον ἕως οὑ̃ παρη̃λθεν τὸ δειλινόν καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ὁ καιρὸς του̃ ἀναβη̃ναι τὴν θυσίαν καὶ οὐκ ἠ̃ν φωνή καὶ ἐλάλησεν Ηλιου ὁ Θεσβίτης πρὸς τοὺς προφήτας τω̃ν προσοχθισμάτων λέγων μετάστητε ἀπὸ του̃ νυ̃ν καὶ ἐγὼ ποιήσω τὸ ὁλοκαύτωμά μου καὶ μετέστησαν καὶ ἀπη̃λθον (Ⅲ) - Postquam autem transiit meridies, et illis prophetantibus venerat tempus quo sacrificium offerri solet, nec audiebatur vox, nec aliquis respondebat, nec attendebat orantes, (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃18 ויהי כעבר הצהרים ויתנבאו עד לעלות המנחה ואין קול ואין ענה ואין קשב (Ⅴ)

And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.
- Élie dit alors à tout le peuple: Approchez-vous de moi! Tout le peuple s'approcha de lui. Et Élie rétablit l'autel de l'Éternel, qui avait été renversé. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου πρὸς τὸν λαόν προσαγάγετε πρός με καὶ προσήγαγεν πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς πρὸς αὐτόν (Ⅲ) - dixit Elias omni populo : Venite ad me.\ Et accedente ad se populo, curavit altare Domini quod destructum fuerat. And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:
- Il prit douze pierres d'après le nombre des tribus des fils de Jacob, auquel l'Éternel avait dit: Israël sera ton nom; (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔλαβεν Ηλιου δώδεκα λίθους κατ' ἀριθμὸν φυλω̃ν του̃ Ισραηλ ὡς ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγων Ισραηλ ἔσται τὸ ὄνομά σου (Ⅲ) - Et tulit duodecim lapides juxta numerum tribuum filiorum Jacob, ad quem factus est sermo Domini, dicens : Israël erit nomen tuum. (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃18 ויקח אליהו שתים עשרה אבנים כמספר שבטי בני יעקב אשר היה דבר יהוה אליו לאמר ישראל יהיה שמך (Ⅴ)

And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.
- et il bâtit avec ces pierres un autel au nom de l'Éternel. Il fit autour de l'autel un fossé de la capacité de deux mesures de semence. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὠ̨κοδόμησεν τοὺς λίθους ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου καὶ ἰάσατο τὸ θυσιαστήριον τὸ κατεσκαμμένον καὶ ἐποίησεν θααλα χωρου̃σαν δύο μετρητὰς σπέρματος κυκλόθεν του̃ θυσιαστηρίου (Ⅲ) - Et ædificavit de lapidibus altare in nomine Domini : fecitque aquæductum, quasi per duas aratiunculas in circuitu altaris, (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃18 ויבנה את האבנים מזבח בשם יהוה ויעש תעלה כבית סאתים זרע סביב למזבח (Ⅴ)

And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.
- Il arrangea le bois, coupa le taureau par morceaux, et le plaça sur le bois. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐστοίβασεν τὰς σχίδακας ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον ὃ ἐποίησεν καὶ ἐμέλισεν τὸ ὁλοκαύτωμα καὶ ἐπέθηκεν ἐπὶ τὰς σχίδακας καὶ ἐστοίβασεν ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον (Ⅲ) - et composuit ligna : divisitque per membra bovem, et posuit super ligna, (Ⅳ) - 33 ׃18 ויערך את העצים וינתח את הפר וישם על העצים (Ⅴ)

And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.
- Puis il dit: Remplissez d'eau quatre cruches, et versez-les sur l'holocauste et sur le bois. Il dit: Faites-le une seconde fois. Et ils le firent une seconde fois. Il dit: Faites-le une troisième fois. Et ils le firent une troisième fois. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν λάβετέ μοι τέσσαρας ὑδρίας ὕδατος καὶ ἐπιχέετε ἐπὶ τὸ ὁλοκαύτωμα καὶ ἐπὶ τὰς σχίδακας καὶ ἐποίησαν οὕτως καὶ εἰ̃πεν δευτερώσατε καὶ ἐδευτέρωσαν καὶ εἰ̃πεν τρισσώσατε καὶ ἐτρίσσευσαν (Ⅲ) - et ait : Implete quatuor hydrias aqua, et fundite super holocaustum et super ligna. Rursumque dixit : Etiam secundo hoc facite. Qui cum fecissent secundo, ait : Etiam tertio idipsum facite. Feceruntque tertio, (Ⅳ) - 34 ׃18 ויאמר מלאו ארבעה כדים מים ויצקו על העלה ועל העצים ויאמר שנו וישנו ויאמר שלשו וישלשו (Ⅴ)

And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.
- L'eau coula autour de l'autel, et l'on remplit aussi d'eau le fossé. (Ⅱ) - καὶ διεπορεύετο τὸ ὕδωρ κύκλω̨ του̃ θυσιαστηρίου καὶ τὴν θααλα ἔπλησαν ὕδατος (Ⅲ) - et currebant aquæ circum altare, et fossa aquæductus repleta est. (Ⅳ) - 35 ׃18 וילכו המים סביב למזבח וגם את התעלה מלא מים (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
- Au moment de la présentation de l'offrande, Élie, le prophète, s'avança et dit: Éternel, Dieu d'Abraham, d'Isaac et d'Israël! que l'on sache aujourd'hui que tu es Dieu en Israël, que je suis ton serviteur, et que j'ai fait toutes ces choses par ta parole! Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
- Réponds-moi, Éternel, réponds-moi, afin que ce peuple reconnaisse que c'est toi, Éternel, qui es Dieu, et que c'est toi qui ramènes leur coeur! (Ⅱ) - ἐπάκουσόν μου κύριε ἐπάκουσόν μου ἐν πυρί καὶ γνώτω ὁ λαὸς οὑ̃τος ὅτι σὺ εἰ̃ κύριος ὁ θεὸς καὶ σὺ ἔστρεψας τὴν καρδίαν του̃ λαου̃ τούτου ὀπίσω (Ⅲ) - Exaudi me, Domine, exaudi me : ut discat populus iste quia tu es Dominus Deus, et tu convertisti cor eorum iterum. Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
- Et le feu de l'Éternel tomba, et il consuma l'holocauste, le bois, les pierres et la terre, et il absorba l'eau qui était dans le fossé. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔπεσεν πυ̃ρ παρὰ κυρίου ἐκ του̃ οὐρανου̃ καὶ κατέφαγεν τὸ ὁλοκαύτωμα καὶ τὰς σχίδακας καὶ τὸ ὕδωρ τὸ ἐν τη̨̃ θααλα καὶ τοὺς λίθους καὶ τὸν χου̃ν ἐξέλιξεν τὸ πυ̃ρ (Ⅲ) - Cecidit autem ignis Domini, et voravit holocaustum, et ligna, et lapides, pulverem quoque, et aquam quæ erat in aquæductu lambens. (Ⅳ) - 38 ׃18 ותפל אש יהוה ותאכל את העלה ואת העצים ואת האבנים ואת העפר ואת המים אשר בתעלה לחכה (Ⅴ)

And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.
- Quand tout le peuple vit cela, ils tombèrent sur leur visage et dirent: C'est l'Éternel qui est Dieu! C'est l'Éternel qui est Dieu! And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.
- Saisissez les prophètes de Baal, leur dit Élie; qu'aucun d'eux n'échappe! Et ils les saisirent. Élie les fit descendre au torrent de Kison, où il les égorgea. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου πρὸς τὸν λαόν συλλάβετε τοὺς προφήτας του̃ Βααλ μηθεὶς σωθήτω ἐξ αὐτω̃ν καὶ συνέλαβον αὐτούς καὶ κατάγει αὐτοὺς Ηλιου εἰς τὸν χειμάρρουν Κισων καὶ ἔσφαξεν αὐτοὺς ἐκει̃ (Ⅲ) - Dixitque Elias ad eos : Apprehendite prophetas Baal, et ne unus quidem effugiat ex eis. Quos cum apprehendissent, duxit eos Elias ad torrentem Cison, et interfecit eos ibi.\ (Ⅳ) - 40 ׃18 ויאמר אליהו להם תפשו את נביאי הבעל איש אל ימלט מהם ויתפשום ויורדם אליהו אל נחל קישון וישחטם שם (Ⅴ)

And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
- Et Élie dit à Achab: Monte, mange et bois; car il se fait un bruit qui annonce la pluie. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου τω̨̃ Αχααβ ἀνάβηθι καὶ φάγε καὶ πίε ὅτι φωνὴ τω̃ν ποδω̃ν του̃ ὑετου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et ait Elias ad Achab : Ascende, comede, et bibe, quia sonus multæ pluviæ est. (Ⅳ) - 41 ׃18 ויאמר אליהו לאחאב עלה אכל ושתה כי קול המון הגשם (Ⅴ)

So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,

Mais Élie monta au sommet du Carmel; et, se penchant contre terre, il mit son visage entre ses genoux, (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνέβη Αχααβ του̃ φαγει̃ν καὶ πιει̃ν καὶ Ηλιου ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὸν Κάρμηλον καὶ ἔκυψεν ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν καὶ ἔθηκεν τὸ πρόσωπον ἑαυτου̃ ἀνὰ μέσον τω̃ν γονάτων ἑαυτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Ascendit Achab ut comederet et biberet : Elias autem ascendit in verticem Carmeli, et pronus in terram posuit faciem suam inter genua sua, (Ⅳ) - 42 ׃18 ויעלה אחאב לאכל ולשתות ואליהו עלה אל ראש הכרמל ויגהר ארצה וישם פניו בין *ברכו **ברכיו (Ⅴ)

And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.
- et dit à son serviteur: Monte, regarde du côté de la mer. Le serviteur monta, il regarda, et dit: Il n'y a rien. Élie dit sept fois: Retourne. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ παιδαρίω̨ αὑτου̃ ἀνάβηθι καὶ ἐπίβλεψον ὁδὸν τη̃ς θαλάσσης καὶ ἐπέβλεψεν τὸ παιδάριον καὶ εἰ̃πεν οὐκ ἔστιν οὐθέν καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου καὶ σὺ ἐπίστρεψον ἑπτάκι καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν τὸ παιδάριον ἑπτάκι (Ⅲ) - et dixit ad puerum suum : Ascende, et prospice contra mare. Qui cum ascendisset, et contemplatus esset, ait : Non est quidquam. Et rursum ait illi : Revertere septem vicibus. (Ⅳ) - 43 ׃18 ויאמר אל נערו עלה נא הבט דרך ים ויעל ויבט ויאמר אין מאומה ויאמר שב שבע פעמים (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not.
- A la septième fois, il dit: Voici un petit nuage qui s'élève de la mer, et qui est comme la paume de la main d'un homme. Élie dit: Monte, et dis à Achab: Attelle et descends, afin que la pluie ne t'arrête pas. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τω̨̃ ἑβδόμω̨ καὶ ἰδοὺ νεφέλη μικρὰ ὡς ἴχνος ἀνδρὸς ἀνάγουσα ὕδωρ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀνάβηθι καὶ εἰπὸν τω̨̃ Αχααβ ζευ̃ξον τὸ ἅρμα σου καὶ κατάβηθι μὴ καταλάβη̨ σε ὁ ὑετός (Ⅲ) - In septima autem vice, ecce nubecula parva quasi vestigium hominis ascendebat de mari. Qui ait : Ascende, et dic Achab : Junge currum tuum et descende, ne occupet te pluvia. (Ⅳ) - 44 ׃18 ויהי בשבעית ויאמר הנה עב קטנה ככף איש עלה מים ויאמר עלה אמר אל אחאב אסר ורד ולא יעצרכה הגשם (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.
- En peu d'instants, le ciel s'obscurcit par les nuages, le vent s'établit, et il y eut une forte pluie. Achab monta sur son char, et partit pour Jizreel. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ἕως ὡ̃δε καὶ ὡ̃δε καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς συνεσκότασεν νεφέλαις καὶ πνεύματι καὶ ἐγένετο ὑετὸς μέγας καὶ ἔκλαιεν καὶ ἐπορεύετο Αχααβ εἰς Ιεζραελ (Ⅲ) - Cumque se verteret huc atque illuc, ecce cæli contenebrati sunt, et nubes, et ventus, et facta est pluvia grandis. Ascendens itaque Achab, abiit in Jezrahel : (Ⅳ) - 45 ׃18 ויהי עד כה ועד כה והשמים התקדרו עבים ורוח ויהי גשם גדול וירכב אחאב וילך יזרעאלה (Ⅴ)

And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

(Ⅱ) - καὶ χεὶρ κυρίου ἐπὶ τὸν Ηλιου καὶ συνέσφιγξεν τὴν ὀσφὺν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔτρεχεν ἔμπροσθεν Αχααβ ἕως Ιεζραελ (Ⅲ) - et manus Domini facta est super Eliam, accinctisque lumbis currebat ante Achab, donec veniret in Jezrahel. (Ⅳ) - 46 ׃18 ויד יהוה היתה אל אליהו וישנס מתניו וירץ לפני אחאב עד באכה יזרעאלה (Ⅴ)
