Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD's anger come upon you.
- Avant que le décret s'exécute Et que ce jour passe comme la balle, Avant que la colère ardente de l'Éternel fonde sur vous, Avant que le jour de la colère de l'Éternel fonde sur vous! (Ⅱ) - πρὸ του̃ γενέσθαι ὑμα̃ς ὡς ἄνθος παραπορευόμενον πρὸ του̃ ἐπελθει̃ν ἐφ' ὑμα̃ς ὀργὴν κυρίου πρὸ του̃ ἐπελθει̃ν ἐφ' ὑμα̃ς ἡμέραν θυμου̃ κυρίου (Ⅲ) - priusquam pariat jussio quasi pulverem transeuntem diem,/ antequam veniat super vos ira furoris Domini,/ antequam veniat super vos dies indignationis Domini./ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃2 בטרם לדת חק כמץ עבר יום בטרם לא יבוא עליכם חרון אף יהוה בטרם לא יבוא עליכם יום אף יהוה (Ⅴ)

Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD's anger.
- Cherchez l'Éternel, vous tous, humbles du pays, Qui pratiquez ses ordonnances! Recherchez la justice, recherchez l'humilité! Peut-être serez-vous épargnés au jour de la colère de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - ζητήσατε τὸν κύριον πάντες ταπεινοὶ γη̃ς κρίμα ἐργάζεσθε καὶ δικαιοσύνην ζητήσατε καὶ ἀποκρίνεσθε αὐτά ὅπως σκεπασθη̃τε ἐν ἡμέρα̨ ὀργη̃ς κυρίου (Ⅲ) - Quærite Dominum, omnes mansueti terræ,/ qui judicium ejus estis operati ;/ quærite justum, quærite mansuetum,/ si quomodo abscondamini in die furoris Domini./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃2 בקשו את יהוה כל ענוי הארץ אשר משפטו פעלו בקשו צדק בקשו ענוה אולי תסתרו ביום אף יהוה (Ⅴ)

For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.
- Car Gaza sera délaissée, Askalon sera réduite en désert, Asdod sera chassée en plein midi, Ékron sera déracinée. (Ⅱ) - διότι Γάζα διηρπασμένη ἔσται καὶ 'Ασκαλὼν ἔσται εἰς ἀφανισμόν καὶ 'Άζωτος μεσημβρίας ἐκριφήσεται καὶ Ακκαρων ἐκριζωθήσεται (Ⅲ) - Quia Gaza destructa erit,/ et Ascalon in desertum :/ Azotum in meridie ejicient,/ et Accaron eradicabitur./ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃2 כי עזה עזובה תהיה ואשקלון לשממה אשדוד בצהרים יגרשוה ועקרון תעקר ס (Ⅴ)

Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
- Malheur aux habitants des côtes de la mer, à la nation des Kéréthiens! L'Éternel a parlé contre toi, Canaan, pays des Philistins! Je te détruirai, tu n'auras plus d'habitants. (Ⅱ) - οὐαὶ οἱ κατοικου̃ντες τὸ σχοίνισμα τη̃ς θαλάσσης πάροικοι Κρητω̃ν λόγος κυρίου ἐφ' ὑμα̃ς Χανααν γη̃ ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἀπολω̃ ὑμα̃ς ἐκ κατοικίας (Ⅲ) - Væ qui habitatis funiculum maris, gens perditorum !/ verbum Domini super vos, Chanaan, terra Philisthinorum ;/ et disperdam te, ita ut non sit inhabitator./ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃2 הוי ישבי חבל הים גוי כרתים דבר יהוה עליכם כנען ארץ פלשתים והאבדתיך מאין יושב (Ⅴ)

And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.
- Les côtes de la mer seront des pâturages, des demeures pour les bergers, Et des parcs pour les troupeaux. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσται Κρήτη νομὴ ποιμνίων καὶ μάνδρα προβάτων (Ⅲ) - Et erit funiculus maris requies pastorum, et caulæ pecorum ;/ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃2 והיתה חבל הים נות כרת רעים וגדרות צאן (Ⅴ)

And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.
- Ces côtes seront pour les restes de la maison de Juda; C'est là qu'ils paîtront; Ils reposeront le soir dans les maisons d'Askalon; Car l'Éternel, leur Dieu, ne les oubliera pas, Et il ramènera leurs captifs. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσται τὸ σχοίνισμα τη̃ς θαλάσσης τοι̃ς καταλοίποις οἴκου Ιουδα ἐπ' αὐτοὺς νεμήσονται ἐν τοι̃ς οἴκοις 'Ασκαλω̃νος δείλης καταλύσουσιν ἀπὸ προσώπου υἱω̃ν Ιουδα ὅτι ἐπέσκεπται αὐτοὺς κύριος ὁ θεὸς αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἀπέστρεψε τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - et erit funiculus ejus qui remanserit de domo Juda : ibi pascentur,/ in domibus Ascalonis ad vesperam requiescent,/ quia visitabit eos Dominus Deus eorum,/ et avertet captivitatem eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃2 והיה חבל לשארית בית יהודה עליהם ירעון בבתי אשקלון בערב ירבצון כי יפקדם יהוה אלהיהם ושב *שבותם **שביתם (Ⅴ)

I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.
- J'ai entendu les injures de Moab Et les outrages des enfants d'Ammon, Quand ils insultaient mon peuple Et s'élevaient avec arrogance contre ses frontières. (Ⅱ) - ἤκουσα ὀνειδισμοὺς Μωαβ καὶ κονδυλισμοὺς υἱω̃ν Αμμων ἐν οἱ̃ς ὠνείδιζον τὸν λαόν μου καὶ ἐμεγαλύνοντο ἐπὶ τὰ ὅριά μου (Ⅲ) - Audivi opprobrium Moab,/ et blasphemias filiorum Ammon,/ quæ exprobraverunt populo meo,/ et magnificati sunt super terminos eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃2 שמעתי חרפת מואב וגדופי בני עמון אשר חרפו את עמי ויגדילו על גבולם (Ⅴ)

Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.
- C'est pourquoi, je suis vivant! dit l'Éternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël, Moab sera comme Sodome, et les enfants d'Ammon comme Gomorrhe, Un lieu couvert de ronces, une mine de sel, un désert pour toujours; Le reste de mon peuple les pillera, Le reste de ma nation les possédera. (Ⅱ) - διὰ του̃το ζω̃ ἐγώ λέγει κύριος τω̃ν δυνάμεων ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ διότι Μωαβ ὡς Σοδομα ἔσται καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων ὡς Γομορρα καὶ Δαμασκὸς ἐκλελειμμένη ὡς θιμωνιὰ ἅλωνος καὶ ἠφανισμένη εἰς τὸν αἰω̃να καὶ οἱ κατάλοιποι λαου̃ μου διαρπω̃νται αὐτούς καὶ οἱ κατάλοιποι ἔθνους μου κληρονομήσουσιν αὐτούς (Ⅲ) - Propterea vivo ego, dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël,/ quia Moab ut Sodoma erit,/ et filii Ammon quasi Gomorrha :/ siccitas spinarum, et acervi salis,/ et desertum usque in æternum :/ reliquiæ populi mei diripient eos,/ et residui gentis meæ possidebunt illos./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃2 לכן חי אני נאם יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל כי מואב כסדם תהיה ובני עמון כעמרה ממשק חרול ומכרה מלח ושממה עד עולם שארית עמי יבזום ויתר *גוי **גויי ינחלום (Ⅴ)

This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts.
- Cela leur arrivera pour leur orgueil, Parce qu'ils ont insulté et traité avec arrogance Le peuple de l'Éternel des armées. (Ⅱ) - αὕτη αὐτοι̃ς ἀντὶ τη̃ς ὕβρεως αὐτω̃ν διότι ὠνείδισαν καὶ ἐμεγαλύνθησαν ἐπὶ τὸν κύριον τὸν παντοκράτορα (Ⅲ) - Hoc eis eveniet pro superbia sua,/ quia blasphemaverunt et magnificati sunt/ super populum Domini exercituum./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃2 זאת להם תחת גאונם כי חרפו ויגדלו על עם יהוה צבאות (Ⅴ)

The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.
- L'Éternel sera terrible contre eux, Car il anéantira tous les dieux de la terre; Et chacun se prosternera devant lui dans son pays, Dans toutes les îles des nations. (Ⅱ) - ἐπιφανήσεται κύριος ἐπ' αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσει πάντας τοὺς θεοὺς τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν τη̃ς γη̃ς καὶ προσκυνήσουσιν αὐτω̨̃ ἕκαστος ἐκ του̃ τόπου αὐτου̃ πα̃σαι αἱ νη̃σοι τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Horribilis Dominus super eos,/ et attenuabit omnes deos terræ :/ et adorabunt eum viri de loco suo,/ omnes insulæ gentium./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃2 נורא יהוה עליהם כי רזה את כל אלהי הארץ וישתחוו לו איש ממקומו כל איי הגוים (Ⅴ)

Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.
- Vous aussi, Éthiopiens, Vous serez frappés par mon épée. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὑμει̃ς Αἰθίοπες τραυματίαι ῥομφαίας μού ἐστε (Ⅲ) - Sed et vos, Æthiopes, interfecti gladio meo eritis./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃2 גם אתם כושים חללי חרבי המה (Ⅴ)

And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.
- Il étendra sa main sur le septentrion, Il détruira l'Assyrie, Et il fera de Ninive une solitude, Une terre aride comme le désert. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐκτενει̃ τὴν χει̃ρα αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ βορρα̃ν καὶ ἀπολει̃ τὸν 'Ασσύριον καὶ θήσει τὴν Νινευη εἰς ἀφανισμὸν ἄνυδρον ὡς ἔρημον (Ⅲ) - Et extendet manum suam super aquilonem, et perdet Assur,/ et ponet speciosam in solitudinem,/ et in invium, et quasi desertum./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃2 ויט ידו על צפון ויאבד את אשור וישם את נינוה לשממה ציה כמדבר (Ⅴ)

And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds; for he shall uncover the cedar work.
- Des troupeaux se coucheront au milieu d'elle, Des animaux de toute espèce; Le pélican et le hérisson Habiteront parmi les chapiteaux de ses colonnes; Des cris retentiront aux fenêtres; La dévastation sera sur le seuil, Car les lambris de cèdre seront arrachés. (Ⅱ) - καὶ νεμήσονται ἐν μέσω̨ αὐτη̃ς ποίμνια καὶ πάντα τὰ θηρία τη̃ς γη̃ς καὶ χαμαιλέοντες καὶ ἐχι̃νοι ἐν τοι̃ς φατνώμασιν αὐτη̃ς κοιτασθήσονται καὶ θηρία φωνήσει ἐν τοι̃ς διορύγμασιν αὐτη̃ς κόρακες ἐν τοι̃ς πυλω̃σιν αὐτη̃ς διότι κέδρος τὸ ἀνάστημα αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Et accubabunt in medio ejus greges, omnes bestiæ gentium ;/ et onocrotalus et ericius in liminibus ejus morabuntur :/ vox cantantis in fenestra,/ corvus in superliminari,/ quoniam attenuabo robur ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃2 ורבצו בתוכה עדרים כל חיתו גוי גם קאת גם קפד בכפתריה ילינו קול ישורר בחלון חרב בסף כי ארזה ערה (Ⅴ)

This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.
- Voilà donc cette ville joyeuse, Qui s'assied avec assurance, Et qui dit en son coeur: Moi, et rien que moi! Eh quoi! elle est en ruines, C'est un repaire pour les bêtes! Tous ceux qui passeront près d'elle Siffleront et agiteront la main. (Ⅱ) - αὕτη ἡ πόλις ἡ φαυλίστρια ἡ κατοικου̃σα ἐπ' ἐλπίδι ἡ λέγουσα ἐν καρδία̨ αὐτη̃ς ἐγώ εἰμι καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν μετ' ἐμὲ ἔτι πω̃ς ἐγενήθη εἰς ἀφανισμόν νομὴ θηρίων πα̃ς ὁ διαπορευόμενος δι' αὐτη̃ς συριει̃ καὶ κινήσει τὰς χει̃ρας αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Hæc est civitas gloriosa habitans in confidentia,/ quæ dicebat in corde suo :/ Ego sum, et extra me non est alia amplius :/ quomodo facta est in desertum cubile bestiæ ?/ omnis qui transit per eam sibilabit,/ et movebit manum suam.] (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃2 זאת[C][c] העיר העליזה היושבת לבטח האמרה בלבבה אני ואפסי עוד איך היתה לשמה מרבץ לחיה כל עובר עליה ישרק יניע ידו ס (Ⅴ)
