1 ׃22 ויען אליפז התמני ויאמר
- Éliphaz de Théman prit la parole et dit: (Ⅱ) - Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, (Ⅲ) - ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Ελιφας ὁ Θαιμανίτης λέγει (Ⅳ) - Respondens autem Eliphaz Themanites, dixit : (Ⅴ)

2 ׃22 הלאל יסכן גבר כי יסכן עלימו משכיל
- Un homme peut-il être utile à Dieu? Non; le sage n'est utile qu'à lui-même. (Ⅱ) - Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself? (Ⅲ) - πότερον οὐχὶ ὁ κύριός ἐστιν ὁ διδάσκων σύνεσιν καὶ ἐπιστήμην (Ⅳ) - Numquid Deo potest comparari homo,/ etiam cum perfectæ fuerit scientiæ ?/ (Ⅴ)

3 ׃22 החפץ לשדי כי תצדק ואם בצע כי תתם דרכיך
- Si tu es juste, est-ce à l'avantage du Tout Puissant? Si tu es intègre dans tes voies, qu'y gagne-t-il? (Ⅱ) - Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect? (Ⅲ) - τί γὰρ μέλει τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ ἐὰν σὺ ἠ̃σθα τοι̃ς ἔργοις ἄμεμπτος ἢ ὠφέλεια ὅτι ἁπλώση̨ς τὴν ὁδόν σου (Ⅳ) - Quid prodest Deo, si justus fueris ?/ aut quid ei confers, si immaculata fuerit via tua ?/ (Ⅴ)

4 ׃22 המיראתך יכיחך יבוא עמך במשפט
- Est-ce par crainte de toi qu'il te châtie, Qu'il entre en jugement avec toi? (Ⅱ) - Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment? (Ⅲ) - ἠ̃ λόγον σου ποιούμενος ἐλέγξει σε καὶ συνεισελεύσεταί σοι εἰς κρίσιν (Ⅳ) - Numquid timens arguet te,/ et veniet tecum in judicium,/ (Ⅴ)

5 ׃22 הלא רעתך רבה ואין קץ לעונתיך
- Ta méchanceté n'est-elle pas grande? Tes iniquités ne sont-elles pas infinies? (Ⅱ) - Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite? (Ⅲ) - πότερον οὐχ ἡ κακία σού ἐστιν πολλή ἀναρίθμητοι δέ σού εἰσιν αἱ ἁμαρτίαι (Ⅳ) - et non propter malitiam tuam plurimam,/ et infinitas iniquitates tuas ?/ (Ⅴ)

6 ׃22 כי תחבל אחיך חנם ובגדי ערומים תפשיט
- Tu enlevais sans motif des gages à tes frères, Tu privais de leurs vêtements ceux qui étaient nus; (Ⅱ) - For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing. (Ⅲ) - ἠνεχύραζες δὲ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου διὰ κενη̃ς ἀμφίασιν δὲ γυμνω̃ν ἀφείλου (Ⅳ) - Abstulisti enim pignus fratrum tuorum sine causa,/ et nudos spoliasti vestibus./ (Ⅴ)

7 ׃22 לא מים עיף תשקה ומרעב תמנע לחם
- Tu ne donnais point d'eau à l'homme altéré, Tu refusais du pain à l'homme affamé. (Ⅱ) - Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry. (Ⅲ) - οὐδὲ ὕδωρ διψω̃ντας ἐπότισας ἀλλὰ πεινώντων ἐστέρησας ψωμόν (Ⅳ) - Aquam lasso non dedisti,/ et esurienti subtraxisti panem./ (Ⅴ)

8 ׃22 ואיש זרוע לו הארץ ונשוא פנים ישב בה
- Le pays était au plus fort, Et le puissant s'y établissait. (Ⅱ) - But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it. (Ⅲ) - ἐθαύμασας δέ τινων πρόσωπον ὤ̨κισας δὲ τοὺς ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅳ) - In fortitudine brachii tui possidebas terram,/ et potentissimus obtinebas eam./ (Ⅴ)

9 ׃22 אלמנות שלחת ריקם וזרעות יתמים ידכא
- Tu renvoyais les veuves à vide; Les bras des orphelins étaient brisés. (Ⅱ) - Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken. (Ⅲ) - χήρας δὲ ἐξαπέστειλας κενάς ὀρφανοὺς δὲ ἐκάκωσας (Ⅳ) - Viduas dimisisti vacuas,/ et lacertos pupillorum comminuisti./ (Ⅴ)

10 ׃22 על כן סביבותיך פחים ויבהלך פחד פתאם
- C'est pour cela que tu es entouré de pièges, Et que la terreur t'a saisi tout à coup. (Ⅱ) - Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee; (Ⅲ) - τοιγαρου̃ν ἐκύκλωσάν σε παγίδες καὶ ἐσπούδασέν σε πόλεμος ἐξαίσιος (Ⅳ) - Propterea circumdatus es laqueis,/ et conturbat te formido subita./ (Ⅴ)

11 ׃22 או חשך לא תראה ושפעת מים תכסך
- Ne vois-tu donc pas ces ténèbres, Ces eaux débordées qui t'envahissent? (Ⅱ) - Or darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee. (Ⅲ) - τὸ φω̃ς σοι σκότος ἀπέβη κοιμηθέντα δὲ ὕδωρ σε ἐκάλυψεν (Ⅳ) - Et putabas te tenebras non visurum,/ et impetu aquarum inundantium non oppressum iri ?/ (Ⅴ)

12 ׃22 הלא אלוה גבה שמים וראה ראש[c] כוכבים כי רמו
- Dieu n'est-il pas en haut dans les cieux? Regarde le sommet des étoiles, comme il est élevé! (Ⅱ) - Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are! (Ⅲ) - μὴ οὐχὶ ὁ τὰ ὑψηλὰ ναίων ἐφορα̨̃ τοὺς δὲ ὕβρει φερομένους ἐταπείνωσεν (Ⅳ) - an non cogitas quod Deus excelsior cælo sit,/ et super stellarum verticem sublimetur ?/ (Ⅴ)

13 ׃22 ואמרת מה ידע אל הבעד ערפל ישפוט
- Et tu dis: Qu'est-ce que Dieu sait? Peut-il juger à travers l'obscurité? (Ⅱ) - And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud? (Ⅲ) - καὶ εἰ̃πας τί ἔγνω ὁ ἰσχυρός ἠ̃ κατὰ του̃ γνόφου κρινει̃ (Ⅳ) - Et dicis : Quid enim novit Deus ?/ et quasi per caliginem judicat./ (Ⅴ)

14 ׃22 עבים סתר לו[c] ולא יראה וחוג שמים יתהלך
- Les nuées l'enveloppent, et il ne voit rien; Il ne parcourt que la voûte des cieux. (Ⅱ) - Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven. (Ⅲ) - νέφη ἀποκρυφὴ αὐτου̃ καὶ οὐχ ὁραθήσεται καὶ γυ̃ρον οὐρανου̃ διαπορεύσεται (Ⅳ) - Nubes latibulum ejus, nec nostra considerat,/ et circa cardines cæli perambulat./ (Ⅴ)

15 ׃22 הארח עולם תשמר אשר דרכו מתי און
- Eh quoi! tu voudrais prendre l'ancienne route Qu'ont suivie les hommes d'iniquité? (Ⅱ) - Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden? (Ⅲ) - μὴ τρίβον αἰώνιον φυλάξεις ἣν ἐπάτησαν ἄνδρες ἄδικοι (Ⅳ) - Numquid semitam sæculorum custodire cupis,/ quam calcaverunt viri iniqui,/ (Ⅴ)

16 ׃22 אשר קמטו ולא עת נהר יוצק יסודם
- Ils ont été emportés avant le temps, Ils ont eu la durée d'un torrent qui s'écoule. (Ⅱ) - Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood: (Ⅲ) - οἳ συνελήμφθησαν ἄωροι ποταμὸς ἐπιρρέων οἱ θεμέλιοι αὐτω̃ν (Ⅳ) - qui sublati sunt ante tempus suum,/ et fluvius subvertit fundamentum eorum ?/ (Ⅴ)

17 ׃22 האמרים לאל סור ממנו ומה יפעל שדי למו
- Ils disaient à Dieu: Retire-toi de nous; Que peut faire pour nous le Tout Puissant? (Ⅱ) - Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them? (Ⅲ) - οἱ λέγοντες κύριος τί ποιήσει ἡμι̃ν ἢ τί ἐπάξεται ἡμι̃ν ὁ παντοκράτωρ (Ⅳ) - Qui dicebant Deo : Recede a nobis :/ et quasi nihil posset facere Omnipotens, æstimabant eum,/ (Ⅴ)

18 ׃22 והוא מלא בתיהם טוב ועצת רשעים רחקה מני
- Dieu cependant avait rempli de biens leurs maisons. -Loin de moi le conseil des méchants! (Ⅱ) - Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me. (Ⅲ) - ὃς δὲ ἐνέπλησεν τοὺς οἴκους αὐτω̃ν ἀγαθω̃ν βουλὴ δὲ ἀσεβω̃ν πόρρω ἀπ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ) - cum ille implesset domos eorum bonis :/ quorum sententia procul sit a me./ (Ⅴ)

19 ׃22 יראו צדיקים וישמחו ונקי ילעג למו
- Les justes, témoins de leur chute, se réjouiront, Et l'innocent se moquera d'eux: (Ⅱ) - The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn. (Ⅲ) - ἰδόντες δίκαιοι ἐγέλασαν ἄμεμπτος δὲ ἐμυκτήρισεν (Ⅳ) - Videbunt justi, et lætabuntur,/ et innocens subsannabit eos :/ (Ⅴ)

20 ׃22 אם לא נכחד קימנו ויתרם אכלה אש
- Voilà nos adversaires anéantis! Voilà leurs richesses dévorées par le feu! (Ⅱ) - Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth. (Ⅲ) - εἰ μὴ ἠφανίσθη ἡ ὑπόστασις αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὸ κατάλειμμα αὐτω̃ν καταφάγεται πυ̃ρ (Ⅳ) - nonne succisa est erectio eorum ?/ et reliquias eorum devoravit ignis ?/ (Ⅴ)

21 ׃22 הסכן נא עמו ושלם[1] בהם תבואתך טובה
- Attache-toi donc à Dieu, et tu auras la paix; Tu jouiras ainsi du bonheur. (Ⅱ) - Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee. (Ⅲ) - γενου̃ δὴ σκληρός ἐὰν ὑπομείνη̨ς εἰ̃τ' ὁ καρπός σου ἔσται ἐν ἀγαθοι̃ς (Ⅳ) - Acquiesce igitur ei, et habeto pacem,/ et per hæc habebis fructus optimos./ (Ⅴ)

22 ׃22 קח נא מפיו תורה ושים אמריו בלבבך
- Reçois de sa bouche l'instruction, Et mets dans ton coeur ses paroles. (Ⅱ) - Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart. (Ⅲ) - ἔκλαβε δὲ ἐκ στόματος αὐτου̃ ἐξηγορίαν καὶ ἀνάλαβε τὰ ῥήματα αὐτου̃ ἐν καρδία̨ σου (Ⅳ) - Suscipe ex ore illius legem,/ et pone sermones ejus in corde tuo./ (Ⅴ)

23 ׃22 אם תשוב עד שדי תבנה תרחיק עולה מאהלך
- Tu seras rétabli, si tu reviens au Tout Puissant, Si tu éloignes l'iniquité de ta tente. (Ⅱ) - If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles. (Ⅲ) - ἐὰν δὲ ἐπιστραφη̨̃ς καὶ ταπεινώση̨ς σεαυτὸν ἔναντι κυρίου πόρρω ἐποίησας ἀπὸ διαίτης σου τὸ ἄδικον (Ⅳ) - Si reversus fueris ad Omnipotentem, ædificaberis,/ et longe facies iniquitatem a tabernaculo tuo./ (Ⅴ)

24 ׃22 ושית על עפר בצר ובצור נחלים אופיר
- Jette l'or dans la poussière, L'or d'Ophir parmi les cailloux des torrents; (Ⅱ) - Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks. (Ⅲ) - θήση̨ ἐπὶ χώματι ἐν πέτρα̨ καὶ ὡς πέτρα̨ χειμάρρους Ωφιρ (Ⅳ) - Dabit pro terra silicem,/ et pro silice torrentes aureos./ (Ⅴ)

25 ׃22 והיה שדי בצריך וכסף תועפות לך
- Et le Tout Puissant sera ton or, Ton argent, ta richesse. (Ⅱ) - Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver. (Ⅲ) - ἔσται οὐ̃ν σου ὁ παντοκράτωρ βοηθὸς ἀπὸ ἐχθρω̃ν καθαρὸν δὲ ἀποδώσει σε ὥσπερ ἀργύριον πεπυρωμένον (Ⅳ) - Eritque Omnipotens contra hostes tuos,/ et argentum coacervabitur tibi./ (Ⅴ)

26 ׃22 כי אז על שדי תתענג ותשא אל אלוה פניך
- Alors tu feras du Tout Puissant tes délices, Tu élèveras vers Dieu ta face; (Ⅱ) - For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God. (Ⅲ) - εἰ̃τα παρρησιασθήση̨ ἔναντι κυρίου ἀναβλέψας εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν ἱλαρω̃ς (Ⅳ) - Tunc super Omnipotentem deliciis afflues,/ et elevabis ad Deum faciem tuam./ (Ⅴ)

27 ׃22 תעתיר אליו וישמעך ונדריך תשלם
- Tu le prieras, et il t'exaucera, Et tu accompliras tes voeux. (Ⅱ) - Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows. (Ⅲ) - εὐξαμένου δέ σου πρὸς αὐτὸν εἰσακούσεταί σου δώσει δέ σοι ἀποδου̃ναι τὰς εὐχάς (Ⅳ) - Rogabis eum, et exaudiet te,/ et vota tua reddes./ (Ⅴ)

28 ׃22 ותגזר אומר[c] ויקם לך ועל דרכיך נגה אור
- A tes résolutions répondra le succès; Sur tes sentiers brillera la lumière. (Ⅱ) - Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways. (Ⅲ) - ἀποκαταστήσει δέ σοι δίαιταν δικαιοσύνης ἐπὶ δὲ ὁδοι̃ς σου ἔσται φέγγος (Ⅳ) - Decernes rem, et veniet tibi,/ et in viis tuis splendebit lumen./ (Ⅴ)

29 ׃22 כי השפילו ותאמר גוה ושח עינים יושע
- Vienne l'humiliation, tu prieras pour ton relèvement: Dieu secourt celui dont le regard est abattu. (Ⅱ) - When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. (Ⅲ) - ὅτι ἐταπείνωσεν αὐτόν καὶ ἐρει̃ς ὑπερηφανεύσατο καὶ κύφοντα ὀφθαλμοι̃ς σώσει (Ⅳ) - Qui enim humiliatus fuerit, erit in gloria,/ et qui inclinaverit oculos, ipse salvabitur./ (Ⅴ)

30 ׃22 ימלט[1] אי נקי ונמלט בבר כפיך פ
- Il délivrera même le coupable, Qui devra son salut à la pureté de tes mains. (Ⅱ) - He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands. (Ⅲ) - ῥύσεται ἀθω̨̃ον καὶ διασώθητι ἐν καθαραι̃ς χερσίν σου (Ⅳ) - Salvabitur innocens :/ salvabitur autem in munditia manuum suarum.] (Ⅴ)
