Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.
- Josias avait huit ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna trente et un ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Jedida, fille d'Adaja, de Botskath. (Ⅱ) - υἱὸς ὀκτὼ ἐτω̃ν Ιωσιας ἐν τω̨̃ βασιλεύειν αὐτὸν καὶ τριάκοντα καὶ ἓν ἔτος ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ὄνομα τη̨̃ μητρὶ αὐτου̃ Ιεδιδα θυγάτηρ Εδεϊα ἐκ Βασουρωθ (Ⅲ) - Octo annorum erat Josias cum regnare cœpisset : triginta et uno anno regnavit in Jerusalem : nomen matris ejus Idida filia Hadaia de Besecath. (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃22 בן שמנה שנה יאשיהו במלכו ושלשים ואחת שנה מלך בירושלם ושם אמו ידידה בת עדיה מבצקת (Ⅴ)

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
- Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel, et il marcha dans toute la voie de David, son père; il ne s'en détourna ni à droite ni à gauche. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ εὐθὲς ἐν ὀφθαλμοι̃ς κυρίου καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἐν πάση̨ ὁδω̨̃ Δαυιδ του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἀπέστη δεξιὰ ἢ ἀριστερά (Ⅲ) - Fecitque quod placitum erat coram Domino, et ambulavit per omnes vias David patris sui : non declinavit ad dexteram, sive ad sinistram. (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃22 ויעש הישר בעיני יהוה וילך בכל דרך דוד אביו ולא סר ימין ושמאול פ (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying,
- La dix-huitième année du roi Josias, le roi envoya dans la maison de l'Éternel Schaphan, le secrétaire, fils d'Atsalia, fils de Meschullam. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγενήθη ἐν τω̨̃ ὀκτωκαιδεκάτω̨ ἔτει τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ Ιωσια ἐν τω̨̃ μηνὶ τω̨̃ ὀγδόω̨ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸν Σαφφαν υἱὸν Εσελιου υἱου̃ Μεσολλαμ τὸν γραμματέα οἴκου κυρίου λέγων (Ⅲ) - Anno autem octavodecimo regis Josiæ, misit rex Saphan filium Aslia filii Messulam scribam templi Domini, dicens ei : (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃22 ויהי בשמנה עשרה שנה למלך יאשיהו שלח המלך את שפן בן אצליהו בן משלם הספר בית יהוה לאמר (Ⅴ)

Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:
- Il lui dit: Monte vers Hilkija, le souverain sacrificateur, et qu'il amasse l'argent qui a été apporté dans la maison de l'Éternel et que ceux qui ont la garde du seuil ont recueilli du peuple. (Ⅱ) - ἀνάβηθι πρὸς Χελκιαν τὸν ἱερέα τὸν μέγαν καὶ σφράγισον τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ εἰσενεχθὲν ἐν οἴκω̨ κυρίου ὃ συνήγαγον οἱ φυλάσσοντες τὸν σταθμὸν παρὰ του̃ λαου̃ (Ⅲ) - Vade ad Helciam sacerdotem magnum, ut confletur pecunia quæ illata est in templum Domini, quam collegerunt janitores templi a populo : (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃22 עלה אל חלקיהו הכהן הגדול ויתם את הכסף המובא בית יהוה אשר אספו שמרי הסף מאת העם (Ⅴ)

And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,
- On remettra cet argent entre les mains de ceux qui sont chargés de faire exécuter l'ouvrage dans la maison de l'Éternel. Et ils l'emploieront pour ceux qui travaillent aux réparations de la maison de l'Éternel, (Ⅱ) - καὶ δότωσαν αὐτὸ ἐπὶ χει̃ρα ποιούντων τὰ ἔργα τω̃ν καθεσταμένων ἐν οἴκω̨ κυρίου καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸ τοι̃ς ποιου̃σιν τὰ ἔργα τοι̃ς ἐν οἴκω̨ κυρίου του̃ κατισχυ̃σαι τὸ βεδεκ του̃ οἴκου (Ⅲ) - deturque fabris per præpositos domus Domini, qui et distribuant eam his qui operantur in templo Domini, ad instauranda sartatecta templi : (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃22 *ויתנה **ויתנהו על יד עשי המלאכה המפקדים *בבית **בית יהוה ויתנו אתו לעשי המלאכה אשר בבית יהוה לחזק בדק הבית (Ⅴ)

Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house.
- pour les charpentiers, les manoeuvres et les maçons, pour les achats de bois et de pierres de taille nécessaires aux réparations de la maison. (Ⅱ) - τοι̃ς τέκτοσιν καὶ τοι̃ς οἰκοδόμοις καὶ τοι̃ς τειχισται̃ς καὶ του̃ κτήσασθαι ξύλα καὶ λίθους λατομητοὺς του̃ κραταιω̃σαι τὸ βεδεκ του̃ οἴκου (Ⅲ) - tignariis videlicet et cæmentariis, et iis qui interrupta componunt : et ut emantur ligna, et lapides de lapicidinis, ad instaurandum templum Domini. (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃22 לחרשים ולבנים ולגדרים ולקנות עצים ואבני מחצב לחזק את הבית (Ⅴ)

Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.
- Mais on ne leur demandera pas de compte pour l'argent remis entre leurs mains, car ils agissent avec probité. (Ⅱ) - πλὴν οὐκ ἐξελογίζοντο αὐτοὺς τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ διδόμενον αὐτοι̃ς ὅτι ἐν πίστει αὐτοὶ ποιου̃σιν (Ⅲ) - Verumtamen non supputetur eis argentum quod accipiunt, sed in potestate habeant, et in fide.\ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃22 אך לא יחשב אתם הכסף הנתן על ידם כי באמונה הם עשים (Ⅴ)

And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
- Alors Hilkija, le souverain sacrificateur, dit à Schaphan, le secrétaire: J'ai trouvé le livre de la loi dans la maison de l'Éternel. Et Hilkija donna le livre à Schaphan, et Schaphan le lut. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Χελκιας ὁ ἱερεὺς ὁ μέγας πρὸς Σαφφαν τὸν γραμματέα βιβλίον του̃ νόμου εὑ̃ρον ἐν οἴκω̨ κυρίου καὶ ἔδωκεν Χελκιας τὸ βιβλίον πρὸς Σαφφαν καὶ ἀνέγνω αὐτό (Ⅲ) - Dixit autem Helcias pontifex ad Saphan scribam : Librum legis reperi in domo Domini. Deditque Helcias volumen Saphan, qui et legit illud. (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃22 ויאמר חלקיהו הכהן הגדול על שפן הספר ספר התורה מצאתי בבית יהוה ויתן חלקיה את הספר אל שפן ויקראהו (Ⅴ)

And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.
- Puis Schaphan, le secrétaire, alla rendre compte au roi, et dit: Tes serviteurs ont amassé l'argent qui se trouvait dans la maison, et l'ont remis entre les mains de ceux qui sont chargés de faire exécuter l'ouvrage dans la maison de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Ιωσιαν καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ ῥη̃μα καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἐχώνευσαν οἱ δου̃λοί σου τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ εὑρεθὲν ἐν τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ κυρίου καὶ ἔδωκαν αὐτὸ ἐπὶ χει̃ρα ποιούντων τὰ ἔργα τω̃ν καθεσταμένων ἐν οἴκω̨ κυρίου (Ⅲ) - Venit quoque Saphan scriba ad regem, et renuntiavit ei quod præceperat, et ait : Conflaverunt servi tui pecuniam quæ reperta est in domo Domini, et dederunt ut distribueretur fabris a præfectis operum templi Domini. (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃22 ויבא שפן הספר אל המלך וישב את המלך דבר ויאמר התיכו עבדיך את הכסף הנמצא בבית ויתנהו על יד עשי המלאכה המפקדים בית יהוה (Ⅴ)

And Shaphan the scribe showed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
- Schaphan, le secrétaire, dit encore au roi: Le sacrificateur Hilkija m'a donné un livre. Et Schaphan le lut devant le roi. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαφφαν ὁ γραμματεὺς πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα λέγων βιβλίον ἔδωκέν μοι Χελκιας ὁ ἱερεύς καὶ ἀνέγνω αὐτὸ Σαφφαν ἐνώπιον του̃ βασιλέως (Ⅲ) - Narravit quoque Saphan scriba regi, dicens : Librum dedit mihi Helcias sacerdos. Quem cum legisset Saphan coram rege, (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃22 ויגד שפן הספר למלך לאמר ספר נתן לי חלקיה הכהן ויקראהו שפן לפני המלך (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.
- Lorsque le roi entendit les paroles du livre de la loi, il déchira ses vêtements. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τοὺς λόγους του̃ βιβλίου του̃ νόμου καὶ διέρρηξεν τὰ ἱμάτια ἑαυτου̃ (Ⅲ) - et audisset rex verba libri legis Domini, scidit vestimenta sua. (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃22 ויהי כשמע המלך את דברי ספר התורה ויקרע את בגדיו (Ⅴ)

And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king's, saying,
- Et le roi donna cet ordre au sacrificateur Hilkija, à Achikam, fils de Schaphan, à Acbor, fils de Michée, à Schaphan, le secrétaire, et à Asaja, serviteur du roi: (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐνετείλατο ὁ βασιλεὺς τω̨̃ Χελκια τω̨̃ ἱερει̃ καὶ τω̨̃ Αχικαμ υἱω̨̃ Σαφφαν καὶ τω̨̃ Αχοβωρ υἱω̨̃ Μιχαιου καὶ τω̨̃ Σαφφαν τω̨̃ γραμματει̃ καὶ τω̨̃ Ασαια δούλω̨ του̃ βασιλέως λέγων (Ⅲ) - Et præcepit Helciæ sacerdoti, et Ahicam filio Saphan, et Achobor filio Micha, et Saphan scribæ, et Asaiæ servo regis, dicens : (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃22 ויצו המלך את חלקיה הכהן ואת אחיקם בן שפן ואת עכבור בן מיכיה ואת שפן הספר ואת עשיה עבד המלך לאמר (Ⅴ)

Go ye, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
- Allez, consultez l'Éternel pour moi, pour le peuple, et pour tout Juda, au sujet des paroles de ce livre qu'on a trouvé; car grande est la colère de l'Éternel, qui s'est enflammée contre nous, parce que nos pères n'ont point obéi aux paroles de ce livre et n'ont point mis en pratique tout ce qui nous y est prescrit. (Ⅱ) - δευ̃τε ἐκζητήσατε τὸν κύριον περὶ ἐμου̃ καὶ περὶ παντὸς του̃ λαου̃ καὶ περὶ παντὸς του̃ Ιουδα περὶ τω̃ν λόγων του̃ βιβλίου του̃ εὑρεθέντος τούτου ὅτι μεγάλη ἡ ὀργὴ κυρίου ἡ ἐκκεκαυμένη ἐν ἡμι̃ν ὑπὲρ οὑ̃ οὐκ ἤκουσαν οἱ πατέρες ἡμω̃ν τω̃ν λόγων του̃ βιβλίου τούτου του̃ ποιει̃ν κατὰ πάντα τὰ γεγραμμένα καθ' ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Ite et consulite Dominum super me, et super populo, et super omni Juda, de verbis voluminis istius, quod inventum est : magna enim ira Domini succensa est contra nos, quia non audierunt patres nostri verba libri hujus, ut facerent omne quod scriptum est nobis. (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃22 לכו דרשו את יהוה בעדי ובעד העם ובעד כל יהודה על דברי הספר הנמצא הזה כי גדולה חמת יהוה אשר היא נצתה בנו על אשר לא שמעו אבתינו על דברי הספר הזה לעשות ככל הכתוב עלינו (Ⅴ)

So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.
- Le sacrificateur Hilkija, Achikam, Acbor, Schaphan et Asaja, allèrent auprès de la prophétesse Hulda, femme de Schallum, fils de Thikva, fils de Harhas, gardien des vêtements. Elle habitait à Jérusalem, dans l'autre quartier de la ville. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπορεύθη Χελκιας ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ Αχικαμ καὶ Αχοβωρ καὶ Σαφφαν καὶ Ασαιας πρὸς Ολδαν τὴν προφη̃τιν γυναι̃κα Σελλημ υἱου̃ Θεκουε υἱου̃ Αραας του̃ ἱματιοφύλακος καὶ αὐτὴ κατώ̨κει ἐν Ιερουσαλημ ἐν τη̨̃ μασενα καὶ ἐλάλησαν πρὸς αὐτήν (Ⅲ) - Ierunt itaque Helcias sacerdos, et Ahicam, et Achobor, et Sapham, et Asaia, ad Holdam prophetidem, uxorem Sellum filii Thecuæ filii Araas custodis vestium, quæ habitabat in Jerusalem in Secunda : locutique sunt ad eam. (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃22 וילך חלקיהו הכהן ואחיקם ועכבור ושפן ועשיה אל חלדה הנביאה אשת שלם בן תקוה בן חרחס שמר הבגדים והיא ישבת בירושלם במשנה וידברו אליה (Ⅴ)

And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me,
- Après qu'ils eurent parlé, elle leur dit: Ainsi parle l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël: Dites à l'homme qui vous a envoyés vers moi: (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ εἴπατε τω̨̃ ἀνδρὶ τω̨̃ ἀποστείλαντι ὑμα̃ς πρός με (Ⅲ) - Et illa respondit eis : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël : Dicite viro qui misit vos ad me : (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃22 ותאמר אליהם כה אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל אמרו לאיש אשר שלח אתכם אלי (Ⅴ)

Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read:
- Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Voici, je vais faire venir des malheurs sur ce lieu et sur ses habitants, selon toutes les paroles du livre qu'a lu le roi de Juda. (Ⅱ) - τάδε λέγει κύριος ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐπάγω κακὰ ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον του̃τον καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἐνοικου̃ντας αὐτόν πάντας τοὺς λόγους του̃ βιβλίου οὓς ἀνέγνω βασιλεὺς Ιουδα (Ⅲ) - Hæc dicit Dominus : Ecce ego adducam mala super locum istum, et super habitatores ejus, omnia verba legis quæ legit rex Juda : (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃22 כה אמר יהוה הנני מביא רעה אל המקום הזה ועל ישביו את כל דברי הספר אשר קרא מלך יהודה (Ⅴ)

Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.
- Parce qu'ils m'ont abandonné et qu'ils ont offert des parfums à d'autres dieux, afin de m'irriter par tous les ouvrages de leurs mains, ma colère s'est enflammée contre ce lieu, et elle ne s'éteindra point. (Ⅱ) - ἀνθ' ὡ̃ν ἐγκατέλιπόν με καὶ ἐθυμίων θεοι̃ς ἑτέροις ὅπως παροργίσωσίν με ἐν τοι̃ς ἔργοις τω̃ν χειρω̃ν αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐκκαυθήσεται ὁ θυμός μου ἐν τω̨̃ τόπω̨ τούτω̨ καὶ οὐ σβεσθήσεται (Ⅲ) - quia dereliquerunt me, et sacrificaverunt diis alienis, irritantes me in cunctis operibus manuum suarum : et succendetur indignatio mea in loco hoc, et non extinguetur. (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃22 תחת אשר עזבוני ויקטרו לאלהים אחרים למען הכעיסני בכל מעשה ידיהם ונצתה חמתי במקום הזה ולא תכבה (Ⅴ)

But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard;
- Mais vous direz au roi de Juda, qui vous a envoyés pour consulter l'Éternel: Ainsi parle l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, au sujet des paroles que tu as entendues: (Ⅱ) - καὶ πρὸς βασιλέα Ιουδα τὸν ἀποστείλαντα ὑμα̃ς ἐπιζητη̃σαι τὸν κύριον τάδε ἐρει̃τε πρὸς αὐτόν τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ οἱ λόγοι οὓς ἤκουσας (Ⅲ) - Regi autem Juda, qui misit vos ut consuleretis Dominum, sic dicetis : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël : Pro eo quod audisti verba voluminis, (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃22 ואל מלך יהודה השלח אתכם לדרש את יהוה כה תאמרו אליו כה אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל הדברים אשר שמעת (Ⅴ)

Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.
- Parce que ton coeur a été touché, parce que tu t'es humilié devant l'Éternel en entendant ce que j'ai prononcé contre ce lieu et contre ses habitants, qui seront un objet d'épouvante et de malédiction, et parce que tu as déchiré tes vêtements et que tu as pleuré devant moi, moi aussi, j'ai entendu, dit l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - ἀνθ' ὡ̃ν ὅτι ἡπαλύνθη ἡ καρδία σου καὶ ἐνετράπης ἀπὸ προσώπου κυρίου ὡς ἤκουσας ὅσα ἐλάλησα ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον του̃τον καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἐνοικου̃ντας αὐτὸν του̃ εἰ̃ναι εἰς ἀφανισμὸν καὶ εἰς κατάραν καὶ διέρρηξας τὰ ἱμάτιά σου καὶ ἔκλαυσας ἐνώπιον ἐμου̃ καί γε ἐγὼ ἤκουσα λέγει κύριος (Ⅲ) - et perterritum est cor tuum, et humiliatus es coram Domino, auditis sermonibus contra locum istum et habitatores ejus, quod videlicet fierent in stuporem et in maledictum : et scidisti vestimenta tua, et flevisti coram me, et ego audivi, ait Dominus : (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃22 יען רך לבבך ותכנע מפני יהוה בשמעך אשר דברתי על המקום הזה ועל ישביו להיות לשמה ולקללה ותקרע את בגדיך ותבכה לפני וגם אנכי שמעתי נאם יהוה (Ⅴ)

Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.
- C'est pourquoi, voici, je te recueillerai auprès de tes pères, tu seras recueilli en paix dans ton sépulcre, et tes yeux ne verront pas tous les malheurs que je ferai venir sur ce lieu. Ils rapportèrent au roi cette réponse. (Ⅱ) - οὐχ οὕτως ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ προστίθημί σε πρὸς τοὺς πατέρας σου καὶ συναχθήση̨ εἰς τὸν τάφον σου ἐν εἰρήνη̨ καὶ οὐκ ὀφθήσεται ἐν τοι̃ς ὀφθαλμοι̃ς σου ἐν πα̃σιν τοι̃ς κακοι̃ς οἱ̃ς ἐγώ εἰμι ἐπάγω ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον του̃τον καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ τὸ ῥη̃μα (Ⅲ) - idcirco colligam te ad patres tuos, et colligeris ad sepulchrum tuum in pace, ut non videant oculi tui omnia mala quæ inducturus sum super locum istum. (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃22 לכן הנני אספך על אבתיך ונאספת אל קברתיך בשלום ולא תראינה עיניך בכל הרעה אשר אני מביא על המקום הזה וישיבו את המלך דבר (Ⅴ)
