Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.
- Voici, l'Éternel dévaste le pays et le rend désert, Il en bouleverse la face et en disperse les habitants. (Ⅱ) - ἰδοὺ κύριος καταφθείρει τὴν οἰκουμένην καὶ ἐρημώσει αὐτὴν καὶ ἀνακαλύψει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτη̃ς καὶ διασπερει̃ τοὺς ἐνοικου̃ντας ἐν αὐτη̨̃ (Ⅲ) - Ecce Dominus dissipabit terram :/ et nudabit eam, et affliget faciem ejus,/ et disperget habitatores ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃24 הנה יהוה בוקק הארץ ובולקה ועוה פניה והפיץ ישביה (Ⅴ)

And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.
- Et il en est du sacrificateur comme du peuple, Du maître comme du serviteur, De la maîtresse comme de la servante, Du vendeur comme de l'acheteur, Du prêteur comme de l'emprunteur, Du créancier comme du débiteur. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσται ὁ λαὸς ὡς ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ ὁ παι̃ς ὡς ὁ κύριος καὶ ἡ θεράπαινα ὡς ἡ κυρία ἔσται ὁ ἀγοράζων ὡς ὁ πωλω̃ν καὶ ὁ δανείζων ὡς ὁ δανειζόμενος καὶ ὁ ὀφείλων ὡς ὡ̨̃ ὀφείλει (Ⅲ) - Et erit sicut populus, sic sacerdos ;/ et sicut servus, sic dominus ejus ;/ sicut ancilla, sic domina ejus ;/ sicut emens, sic ille qui vendit ;/ sicut fœnerator, sic is qui mutuum accipit ;/ sicut qui repetit, sic qui debet./ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃24 והיה כעם ככהן כעבד כאדניו כשפחה כגברתה כקונה כמוכר כמלוה כלוה כנשה כאשר נשא בו (Ⅴ)

The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.
- Le pays est dévasté, livré au pillage; Car l'Éternel l'a décrété. (Ⅱ) - φθορα̨̃ φθαρήσεται ἡ γη̃ καὶ προνομη̨̃ προνομευθήσεται ἡ γη̃ τὸ γὰρ στόμα κυρίου ἐλάλησεν ταυ̃τα (Ⅲ) - Dissipatione dissipabitur terra, et direptione prædabitur ;/ Dominus enim locutus est verbum hoc./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃24 הבוק תבוק הארץ והבוז תבוז כי יהוה דבר את הדבר הזה (Ⅴ)

The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.
- Le pays est triste, épuisé; Les habitants sont abattus, languissants; Les chefs du peuple sont sans force. (Ⅱ) - ἐπένθησεν ἡ γη̃ καὶ ἐφθάρη ἡ οἰκουμένη ἐπένθησαν οἱ ὑψηλοὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Luxit, et defluxit terra, et infirmata est ;/ defluxit orbis,/ infirmata est altitudo populi terræ./ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃24 אבלה נבלה הארץ אמללה נבלה תבל אמללו מרום עם הארץ (Ⅴ)

The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.
- Le pays était profané par ses habitants; Car ils transgressaient les lois, violaient les ordonnances, Ils rompaient l'alliance éternelle. (Ⅱ) - ἡ δὲ γη̃ ἠνόμησεν διὰ τοὺς κατοικου̃ντας αὐτήν διότι παρέβησαν τὸν νόμον καὶ ἤλλαξαν τὰ προστάγματα διαθήκην αἰώνιον (Ⅲ) - Et terra infecta est ab habitatoribus suis,/ quia transgressi sunt leges,/ mutaverunt jus,/ dissipaverunt fœdus sempiternum./ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃24 והארץ חנפה תחת ישביה כי עברו תורת חלפו חק הפרו ברית עולם (Ⅴ)

Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
- C'est pourquoi la malédiction dévore le pays, Et ses habitants portent la peine de leurs crimes; C'est pourquoi les habitants du pays sont consumés, Et il n'en reste qu'un petit nombre. (Ⅱ) - διὰ του̃το ἀρὰ ἔδεται τὴν γη̃ν ὅτι ἡμάρτοσαν οἱ κατοικου̃ντες αὐτήν διὰ του̃το πτωχοὶ ἔσονται οἱ ἐνοικου̃ντες ἐν τη̨̃ γη̨̃ καὶ καταλειφθήσονται ἄνθρωποι ὀλίγοι (Ⅲ) - Propter hoc maledictio vorabit terram,/ et peccabunt habitatores ejus ;/ ideoque insanient cultores ejus,/ et relinquentur homines pauci./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃24 על כן אלה אכלה ארץ ויאשמו ישבי בה על כן חרו ישבי ארץ ונשאר אנוש מזער (Ⅴ)

The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.
- Le moût est triste, la vigne est flétrie; Tous ceux qui avaient le coeur joyeux soupirent. (Ⅱ) - πενθήσει οἰ̃νος πενθήσει ἄμπελος στενάξουσιν πάντες οἱ εὐφραινόμενοι τὴν ψυχήν (Ⅲ) - Luxit vindemia, infirmata est vitis,/ ingemuerunt omnes qui lætabantur corde ;/ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃24 אבל תירוש אמללה גפן נאנחו כל שמחי לב (Ⅴ)

The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.
- La joie des tambourins a cessé, la gaîté bruyante a pris fin, La joie de la harpe a cessé. (Ⅱ) - πέπαυται εὐφροσύνη τυμπάνων πέπαυται αὐθάδεια καὶ πλου̃τος ἀσεβω̃ν πέπαυται φωνὴ κιθάρας (Ⅲ) - cessavit gaudium tympanorum,/ quievit sonitus lætantium,/ conticuit dulcedo citharæ./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃24 שבת משוש תפים חדל שאון עליזים שבת משוש כנור (Ⅴ)

They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.
- On ne boit plus de vin en chantant; Les liqueurs fortes sont amères au buveur. (Ⅱ) - ἠ̨σχύνθησαν οὐκ ἔπιον οἰ̃νον πικρὸν ἐγένετο τὸ σικερα τοι̃ς πίνουσιν (Ⅲ) - Cum cantico non bibent vinum ;/ amara erit potio bibentibus illam./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃24 בשיר לא ישתו יין ימר שכר לשתיו (Ⅴ)

The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.
- La ville déserte est en ruines; Toutes les maisons sont fermées, on n'y entre plus. (Ⅱ) - ἠρημώθη πα̃σα πόλις κλείσει οἰκίαν του̃ μὴ εἰσελθει̃ν (Ⅲ) - Attrita est civitas vanitatis,/ clausa est omnis domus, nullo introëunte./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃24 נשברה קרית תהו סגר כל בית מבוא (Ⅴ)

There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.
- On crie dans les rues, parce que le vin manque; Toute réjouissance a disparu, L'allégresse est bannie du pays. (Ⅱ) - ὀλολύζετε περὶ του̃ οἴνου πανταχη̨̃ πέπαυται πα̃σα εὐφροσύνη τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Clamor erit super vino in plateis,/ deserta est omnia lætitia,/ translatum est gaudium terræ./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃24 צוחה על היין בחוצות ערבה כל שמחה גלה משוש הארץ (Ⅴ)

In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.
- La dévastation est restée dans la ville, Et les portes abattues sont en ruines. (Ⅱ) - καὶ καταλειφθήσονται πόλεις ἔρημοι καὶ οἰ̃κοι ἐγκαταλελειμμένοι ἀπολου̃νται (Ⅲ) - Relicta est in urbe solitudo,/ et calamitas opprimet portas./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃24 נשאר בעיר שמה ושאיה יכת שער (Ⅴ)

When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.
- Car il en est dans le pays, au milieu des peuples, Comme quand on secoue l'olivier, Comme quand on grappille après la vendange. (Ⅱ) - ταυ̃τα πάντα ἔσται ἐν τη̨̃ γη̨̃ ἐν μέσω̨ τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν ὃν τρόπον ἐάν τις καλαμήσηται ἐλαίαν οὕτως καλαμήσονται αὐτούς καὶ ἐὰν παύσηται ὁ τρύγητος (Ⅲ) - Quia hæc erunt in medio terræ/ in medio populorum,/ quomodo si paucæ olivæ quæ remanserunt/ excutiantur ex olea et racemi,/ cum fuerit finita vindemia.]\ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃24 כי כה יהיה בקרב הארץ בתוך העמים כנקף זית כעוללת אם כלה בציר (Ⅴ)

They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea.
- Ils élèvent leur voix, ils poussent des cris d'allégresse; Des bords de la mer, ils célèbrent la majesté de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - οὑ̃τοι φωνη̨̃ βοήσονται οἱ δὲ καταλειφθέντες ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς εὐφρανθήσονται ἅμα τη̨̃ δόξη̨ κυρίου ταραχθήσεται τὸ ὕδωρ τη̃ς θαλάσσης (Ⅲ) - Hi levabunt vocem suam, atque laudabunt :/ cum glorificatus fuerit Dominus, hinnient de mari./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃24 המה ישאו קולם ירנו בגאון יהוה צהלו מים (Ⅴ)

Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.
- Glorifiez donc l'Éternel dans les lieux où brille la lumière, Le nom de l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, dans les îles de la mer! - (Ⅱ) - διὰ του̃το ἡ δόξα κυρίου ἐν ται̃ς νήσοις ἔσται τη̃ς θαλάσσης τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου ἔνδοξον ἔσται κύριε ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ (Ⅲ) - Propter hoc in doctrinis glorificate Dominum ;/ in insulis maris/ nomen Domini Dei Israël./ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃24 על כן בארים כבדו יהוה באיי הים שם יהוה אלהי ישראל ס (Ⅴ)

From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.
- De l'extrémité de la terre nous entendons chanter: Gloire au juste! Mais moi je dis: Je suis perdu! je suis perdu! malheur à moi! Les pillards pillent, et les pillards s'acharnent au pillage. (Ⅱ) - ἀπὸ τω̃ν πτερύγων τη̃ς γη̃ς τέρατα ἠκούσαμεν ἐλπὶς τω̨̃ εὐσεβει̃ καὶ ἐρου̃σιν οὐαὶ τοι̃ς ἀθετου̃σιν οἱ ἀθετου̃ντες τὸν νόμον (Ⅲ) - A finibus terræ laudes audivimus,/ gloriam Justi./ Et dixi : Secretum meum mihi,/ secretum meum mihi./ Væ mihi !/ prævaricantes prævaricati sunt,/ et prævaricatione transgressorum prævaricati sunt./ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃24 מכנף הארץ זמרת שמענו צבי לצדיק ואמר רזי לי רזי לי אוי לי בגדים בגדו ובגד בוגדים בגדו (Ⅴ)

Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.
- La terreur, la fosse, et le filet, Sont sur toi, habitant du pays! (Ⅱ) - φόβος καὶ βόθυνος καὶ παγὶς ἐφ' ὑμα̃ς τοὺς ἐνοικου̃ντας ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Formido, et fovea, et laqueus/ super te, qui habitator es terræ./ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃24 פחד ופחת ופח עליך יושב הארץ (Ⅴ)

And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.
- Celui qui fuit devant les cris de terreur tombe dans la fosse, Et celui qui remonte de la fosse se prend au filet; Car les écluses d'en haut s'ouvrent, Et les fondements de la terre sont ébranlés. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσται ὁ φεύγων τὸν φόβον ἐμπεσει̃ται εἰς τὸν βόθυνον ὁ δὲ ἐκβαίνων ἐκ του̃ βοθύνου ἁλώσεται ὑπὸ τη̃ς παγίδος ὅτι θυρίδες ἐκ του̃ οὐρανου̃ ἠνεώ̨χθησαν καὶ σεισθήσεται τὰ θεμέλια τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Et erit : qui fugerit a voce formidinis cadet in foveam ;/ et qui se explicaverit de fovea tenebitur laqueo ;/ quia cataractæ de excelsis apertæ sunt/ et concutientur fundamenta terræ./ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃24 והיה הנס מקול הפחד יפל אל הפחת והעולה מתוך הפחת ילכד בפח כי ארבות ממרום נפתחו וירעשו מוסדי ארץ (Ⅴ)

The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.
- La terre est déchirée, La terre se brise, La terre chancelle. (Ⅱ) - ταραχη̨̃ ταραχθήσεται ἡ γη̃ καὶ ἀπορία̨ ἀπορηθήσεται ἡ γη̃ (Ⅲ) - Confractione confringetur terra,/ contritione conteretur terra,/ commotione commovebitur terra ;/ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃24 רעה התרעעה הארץ פור התפוררה ארץ מוט התמוטטה ארץ (Ⅴ)

The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.
- La terre chancelle comme un homme ivre, Elle vacille comme une cabane; Son péché pèse sur elle, Elle tombe, et ne se relève plus. (Ⅱ) - ἔκλινεν καὶ σεισθήσεται ὡς ὀπωροφυλάκιον ἡ γη̃ ὡς ὁ μεθύων καὶ κραιπαλω̃ν καὶ πεσει̃ται καὶ οὐ μὴ δύνηται ἀναστη̃ναι κατίσχυσεν γὰρ ἐπ' αὐτη̃ς ἡ ἀνομία (Ⅲ) - agitatione agitabitur terra sicut ebrius,/ et auferetur quasi tabernaculum unius noctis ;/ et gravabit eam iniquitas sua,/ et corruet, et non adjiciet ut resurgat./ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃24 נוע תנוע ארץ כשכור והתנודדה כמלונה וכבד עליה פשעה ונפלה ולא תסיף קום ס (Ⅴ)

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
- En ce temps-là, l'Éternel châtiera dans le ciel l'armée d'en haut, Et sur la terre les rois de la terre. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπάξει ὁ θεὸς ἐπὶ τὸν κόσμον του̃ οὐρανου̃ τὴν χει̃ρα καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς βασιλει̃ς τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Et erit : in die illa visitabit Dominus/ super militiam cæli in excelso,/ et super reges terræ qui sunt super terram ;/ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃24 והיה ביום ההוא יפקד יהוה על צבא המרום במרום ועל מלכי האדמה על האדמה (Ⅴ)

And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.
- Ils seront assemblés captifs dans une prison, Ils seront enfermés dans des cachots, Et, après un grand nombre de jours, ils seront châtiés. (Ⅱ) - καὶ συνάξουσιν καὶ ἀποκλείσουσιν εἰς ὀχύρωμα καὶ εἰς δεσμωτήριον διὰ πολλω̃ν γενεω̃ν ἐπισκοπὴ ἔσται αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - et congregabuntur in congregatione unius fascis in lacum,/ et claudentur ibi in carcere,/ et post multos dies visitabuntur./ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃24 ואספו אספה אסיר על בור וסגרו על מסגר ומרב ימים יפקדו (Ⅴ)

Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
- La lune sera couverte de honte, Et le soleil de confusion; Car l'Éternel des armées régnera Sur la montagne de Sion et à Jérusalem, Resplendissant de gloire en présence de ses anciens. (Ⅱ) - καὶ τακήσεται ἡ πλίνθος καὶ πεσει̃ται τὸ τει̃χος ὅτι βασιλεύσει κύριος ἐν Σιων καὶ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἐνώπιον τω̃ν πρεσβυτέρων δοξασθήσεται (Ⅲ) - Et erubescet luna, et confundetur sol,/ cum regnaverit Dominus exercituum/ in monte Sion et in Jerusalem/ et in conspectu senum suorum fuerit glorificatus.] (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃24 וחפרה הלבנה ובושה החמה כי מלך יהוה צבאות בהר ציון ובירושלם ונגד זקניו כבוד פ (Ⅴ)
