Quand un pays est en révolte, les chefs sont nombreux; Mais avec un homme qui a de l'intelligence et de la science, Le règne se prolonge.
- For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged. Un homme pauvre qui opprime les misérables Est une pluie violente qui fait manquer le pain.

Ceux qui abandonnent la loi louent le méchant, Mais ceux qui observent la loi s'irritent contre lui.
- They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them. (Ⅱ) - Qui derelinquunt legem laudant impium ;/ qui custodiunt, succenduntur contra eum./ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃28 עזבי תורה יהללו רשע ושמרי תורה יתגרו בם פ (Ⅴ)

Les hommes livrés au mal ne comprennent pas ce qui est juste, Mais ceux qui cherchent l'Éternel comprennent tout.

Mieux vaut le pauvre qui marche dans son intégrité, Que celui qui a des voies tortueuses et qui est riche.

Celui qui observe la loi est un fils intelligent, Mais celui qui fréquente les débauchés fait honte à son père.
- Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father. (Ⅱ) - Qui custodit legem filius sapiens est ;/ qui autem comessatores pascit confundit patrem suum./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃28 נוצר תורה בן מבין ורעה זוללים יכלים אביו (Ⅴ)

Celui qui augmente ses biens par l'intérêt et l'usure Les amasse pour celui qui a pitié des pauvres.
- He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor. (Ⅱ) - Qui coacervat divitias usuris et fœnore,/ liberali in pauperes congregat eas./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃28 מרבה הונו בנשך *ובתרבית **ותרבית לחונן דלים יקבצנו (Ⅴ)

Si quelqu'un détourne l'oreille pour ne pas écouter la loi, Sa prière même est une abomination.
- He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. (Ⅱ) - Qui declinat aures suas ne audiat legem,/ oratio ejus erit execrabilis./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃28 מסיר אזנו משמע תורה גם תפלתו תועבה (Ⅴ)

Celui qui égare les hommes droits dans la mauvaise voie Tombe dans la fosse qu'il a creusée; Mais les hommes intègres héritent le bonheur.
- Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession. (Ⅱ) - Qui decipit justos in via mala, in interitu suo corruet,/ et simplices possidebunt bona ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃28 משגה ישרים בדרך רע בשחותו הוא יפול ותמימים ינחלו טוב (Ⅴ)

Celui qui cache ses transgressions ne prospère point, Mais celui qui les avoue et les délaisse obtient miséricorde.

Un prince sans intelligence multiplie les actes d'oppression, Mais celui qui est ennemi de la cupidité prolonge ses jours.
- The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days. Celui qui marche dans l'intégrité trouve le salut, Mais celui qui suit deux voies tortueuses tombe dans l'une d'elles.
- Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once. (Ⅱ) - Qui ambulat simpliciter salvus erit ;/ qui perversis graditur viis concidet semel./ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃28 הולך תמים יושע ונעקש דרכים יפול באחת (Ⅴ)

Celui qui cultive son champ est rassasié de pain, Mais celui qui poursuit des choses vaines est rassasié de pauvreté.
- He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough. (Ⅱ) - Qui operatur terram suam satiabitur panibus ;/ qui autem sectatur otium replebitur egestate.]\ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃28 עבד אדמתו ישבע לחם ומרדף רקים ישבע ריש (Ⅴ)

Un homme fidèle est comblé de bénédictions, Mais celui qui a hâte de s'enrichir ne reste pas impuni.
- A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent. (Ⅱ) - Vir fidelis multum laudabitur ;/ qui autem festinat ditari non erit innocens./ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃28 איש אמונות רב ברכות ואץ להעשיר לא ינקה (Ⅴ)

Il n'est pas bon d'avoir égard aux personnes, Et pour un morceau de pain un homme se livre au péché.
- To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress. (Ⅱ) - Qui cognoscit in judicio faciem non bene facit ;/ iste et pro buccella panis deserit veritatem./ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃28 הכר פנים לא טוב ועל פת לחם יפשע גבר (Ⅴ)

Un homme envieux a hâte de s'enrichir, Et il ne sait pas que la disette viendra sur lui.
- He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him. (Ⅱ) - Vir qui festinat ditari, et aliis invidet,/ ignorat quod egestas superveniet ei./ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃28 נבהל להון איש רע עין ולא ידע כי חסר יבאנו (Ⅴ)

Celui qui reprend les autres trouve ensuite plus de faveur Que celui dont la langue est flatteuse.
- He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue. (Ⅱ) - Qui corripit hominem gratiam postea inveniet apud eum,/ magis quam ille qui per linguæ blandimenta decipit./ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃28 מוכיח אדם אחרי חן ימצא ממחליק לשון (Ⅴ)

Celui qui vole son père et sa mère, Et qui dit: Ce n'est pas un péché! Est le compagnon du destructeur.
- Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer. (Ⅱ) - Qui subtrahit aliquid a patre suo et a matre,/ et dicit hoc non esse peccatum,/ particeps homicidæ est./ (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃28 גוזל אביו ואמו ואמר אין פשע חבר הוא לאיש משחית (Ⅴ)

L'orgueilleux excite les querelles, Mais celui qui se confie en l'Éternel est rassasié.
- He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat. (Ⅱ) - Qui se jactat et dilatat, jurgia concitat ;/ qui vero sperat in Domino sanabitur./ (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃28 רחב נפש יגרה מדון ובוטח על יהוה ידשן (Ⅴ)

Celui qui a confiance dans son propre coeur est un insensé, Mais celui qui marche dans la sagesse sera sauvé.
- He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. (Ⅱ) - Qui confidit in corde suo stultus est ;/ qui autem graditur sapienter, ipse salvabitur./ (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃28 בוטח בלבו הוא כסיל והולך בחכמה הוא ימלט (Ⅴ)

Celui qui donne au pauvre n'éprouve pas la disette, Mais celui qui ferme les yeux est chargé de malédictions.
