Car l'oreille discerne les paroles, Comme le palais savoure les aliments.
- For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι οὐ̃ς λόγους δοκιμάζει καὶ λάρυγξ γεύεται βρω̃σιν (Ⅲ) - Auris enim verba probat,/ et guttur escas gustu dijudicat./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃34 כי אזן מלין תבחן וחך יטעם לאכל (Ⅴ)

Choisissons ce qui est juste, Voyons entre nous ce qui est bon.
- Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good. (Ⅱ) - κρίσιν ἑλώμεθα ἑαυτοι̃ς γνω̃μεν ἀνὰ μέσον ἑαυτω̃ν ὅ τι καλόν (Ⅲ) - Judicium eligamus nobis,/ et inter nos videamus quid sit melius./ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃34 משפט נבחרה לנו נדעה בינינו מה טוב (Ⅴ)

Marchant en société de ceux qui font le mal, Cheminant de pair avec les impies?
- Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men. (Ⅱ) - οὐχ ἁμαρτὼν οὐδὲ ἀσεβήσας ἢ ὁδου̃ κοινωνήσας μετὰ ποιούντων τὰ ἄνομα του̃ πορευθη̃ναι μετὰ ἀσεβω̃ν (Ⅲ) - qui graditur cum operantibus iniquitatem,/ et ambulat cum viris impiis ?/ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃34 וארח לחברה עם פעלי און וללכת עם אנשי רשע (Ⅴ)

Car il a dit: Il est inutile à l'homme De mettre son plaisir en Dieu.
- For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God. (Ⅱ) - μὴ γὰρ εἴπη̨ς ὅτι οὐκ ἔσται ἐπισκοπὴ ἀνδρός καὶ ἐπισκοπὴ αὐτω̨̃ παρὰ κυρίου (Ⅲ) - Dixit enim : Non placebit vir Deo,/ etiam si cucurrerit cum eo./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃34 כי אמר לא יסכן גבר ברצתו עם אלהים (Ⅴ)

Écoutez-moi donc, hommes de sens! Loin de Dieu l'injustice, Loin du Tout Puissant l'iniquité!
- Therefore hearken unto me ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity. (Ⅱ) - διό συνετοὶ καρδίας ἀκούσατέ μου μή μοι εἴη ἔναντι κυρίου ἀσεβη̃σαι καὶ ἔναντι παντοκράτορος ταράξαι τὸ δίκαιον (Ⅲ) - Ideo, viri cordati, audite me :/ absit a Deo impietas,/ et ab Omnipotente iniquitas./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃34 לכן אנשי[c] לבב שמעו לי חללה לאל מרשע ושדי מעול (Ⅴ)

- For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways. (Ⅱ) - ἀλλὰ ἀποδιδοι̃ ἀνθρώπω̨ καθὰ ποιει̃ ἕκαστος αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐν τρίβω̨ ἀνδρὸς εὑρήσει αὐτόν (Ⅲ) - Opus enim hominis reddet ei,/ et juxta vias singulorum restituet eis./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃34 כי פעל אדם ישלם לו וכארח איש ימצאנו (Ⅴ)

Non certes, Dieu ne commet pas l'iniquité; Le Tout Puissant ne viole pas la justice.
- Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment. (Ⅱ) - οἴη̨ δὲ τὸν κύριον ἄτοπα ποιήσειν ἢ ὁ παντοκράτωρ ταράξει κρίσιν (Ⅲ) - Vere enim Deus non condemnabit frustra,/ nec Omnipotens subvertet judicium./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃34 אף אמנם אל לא ירשיע ושדי לא יעות משפט (Ⅴ)

- Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world? S'il ne pensait qu'à lui-même, S'il retirait à lui son esprit et son souffle,
- If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; (Ⅱ) - εἰ γὰρ βούλοιτο συνέχειν καὶ τὸ πνευ̃μα παρ' αὐτω̨̃ κατασχει̃ν (Ⅲ) - Si direxerit ad eum cor suum,/ spiritum illius et flatum ad se trahet./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃34 אם ישים אליו לבו רוחו ונשמתו אליו יאסף (Ⅴ)

Toute chair périrait soudain, Et l'homme rentrerait dans la poussière.
- All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust. (Ⅱ) - τελευτήσει πα̃σα σὰρξ ὁμοθυμαδόν πα̃ς δὲ βροτὸς εἰς γη̃ν ἀπελεύσεται ὅθεν καὶ ἐπλάσθη (Ⅲ) - Deficiet omnis caro simul,/ et homo in cinerem revertetur./ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃34 יגוע כל בשר יחד ואדם על עפר ישוב (Ⅴ)

Un ennemi de la justice régnerait-il? Et condamneras-tu le juste, le puissant,
- Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just? (Ⅱ) - ἰδὲ σὺ τὸν μισου̃ντα ἄνομα καὶ τὸν ὀλλύντα τοὺς πονηροὺς ὄντα αἰώνιον δίκαιον (Ⅲ) - numquid qui non amat judicium sanari potest ?/ et quomodo tu eum qui justus est in tantum condemnas ?/ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃34 האף שונא משפט יחבוש ואם צדיק כביר תרשיע (Ⅴ)

Qui proclame la méchanceté des rois Et l'iniquité des princes,
- Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly? (Ⅱ) - ἀσεβὴς ὁ λέγων βασιλει̃ παρανομει̃ς ἀσεβέστατε τοι̃ς ἄρχουσιν (Ⅲ) - Qui dicit regi : Apostata ;/ qui vocat duces impios ;/ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃34 האמר למלך בליעל רשע אל נדיבים (Ⅴ)

Qui n'a point égard à l'apparence des grands Et ne distingue pas le riche du pauvre, Parce que tous sont l'ouvrage de ses mains?
- How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands. (Ⅱ) - ὃς οὐκ ἐπη̨σχύνθη πρόσωπον ἐντίμου οὐδὲ οἰ̃δεν τιμὴν θέσθαι ἁδροι̃ς θαυμασθη̃ναι πρόσωπα αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - qui non accipit personas principum,/ nec cognovit tyrannum cum disceptaret contra pauperem :/ opus enim manuum ejus sunt universi./ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃34 אשר לא נשא פני שרים ולא נכר שוע[c] לפני דל כי מעשה ידיו כלם (Ⅴ)

En un instant, ils perdent la vie; Au milieu de la nuit, un peuple chancelle et périt; Le puissant disparaît, sans la main d'aucun homme.
- In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand. (Ⅱ) - κενὰ δὲ αὐτοι̃ς ἀποβήσεται τὸ κεκραγέναι καὶ δει̃σθαι ἀνδρός ἐχρήσαντο γὰρ παρανόμως ἐκκλινομένων ἀδυνάτων (Ⅲ) - Subito morientur, et in media nocte turbabuntur populi :/ et pertransibunt, et auferent violentum absque manu./ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃34 רגע ימתו וחצות לילה יגעשו עם ויעברו ויסירו אביר לא ביד (Ⅴ)

Car Dieu voit la conduite de tous, Il a les regards sur les pas de chacun.
- For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. (Ⅱ) - αὐτὸς γὰρ ὁρατής ἐστιν ἔργων ἀνθρώπων λέληθεν δὲ αὐτὸν οὐδὲν ὡ̃ν πράσσουσιν (Ⅲ) - Oculi enim ejus super vias hominum,/ et omnes gressus eorum considerat./ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃34 כי עיניו על דרכי איש וכל צעדיו יראה (Ⅴ)

Il n'y a ni ténèbres ni ombre de la mort, Où puissent se cacher ceux qui commettent l'iniquité.
- There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. (Ⅱ) - οὐδὲ ἔσται τόπος του̃ κρυβη̃ναι τοὺς ποιου̃ντας τὰ ἄνομα (Ⅲ) - Non sunt tenebræ, et non est umbra mortis,/ ut abscondantur ibi qui operantur iniquitatem,/ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃34 אין חשך[c] ואין צלמות להסתר שם פעלי און (Ⅴ)

Dieu n'a pas besoin d'observer longtemps, Pour qu'un homme entre en jugement avec lui;
- For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι οὐκ ἐπ' ἄνδρα θήσει ἔτι ὁ γὰρ κύριος πάντας ἐφορα̨̃ (Ⅲ) - neque enim ultra in hominis potestate est,/ ut veniat ad Deum in judicium./ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃34 כי לא על איש ישים עוד להלך אל אל במשפט (Ⅴ)

Il brise les grands sans information, Et il met d'autres à leur place;
- He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead. (Ⅱ) - ὁ καταλαμβάνων ἀνεξιχνίαστα ἔνδοξά τε καὶ ἐξαίσια ὡ̃ν οὐκ ἔστιν ἀριθμός (Ⅲ) - Conteret multos, et innumerabiles,/ et stare faciet alios pro eis./ (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃34 ירע כבירים לא חקר ויעמד אחרים תחתם (Ⅴ)

Car il connaît leurs oeuvres. Ils les renverse de nuit, et ils sont écrasés;
- Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed. (Ⅱ) - ὁ γνωρίζων αὐτω̃ν τὰ ἔργα καὶ στρέψει νύκτα καὶ ταπεινωθήσονται (Ⅲ) - Novit enim opera eorum,/ et idcirco inducet noctem, et conterentur./ (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃34 לכן יכיר מעבדיהם והפך לילה וידכאו (Ⅴ)

Il les frappe comme des impies, A la face de tous les regards.
- He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others; (Ⅱ) - ἔσβεσεν δὲ ἀσεβει̃ς ὁρατοὶ δὲ ἐναντίον αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Quasi impios percussit eos/ in loco videntium :/ (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃34 תחת רשעים ספקם במקום ראים (Ⅴ)

En se détournant de lui, En abandonnant toutes ses voies,
- Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways: (Ⅱ) - ὅτι ἐξέκλιναν ἐκ νόμου θεου̃ δικαιώματα δὲ αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν (Ⅲ) - qui quasi de industria recesserunt ab eo,/ et omnes vias ejus intelligere noluerunt :/ (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃34 אשר על כן סרו מאחריו וכל דרכיו לא השכילו (Ⅴ)

Ils ont fait monter à Dieu le cri du pauvre, Ils l'ont rendu attentif aux cris des malheureux.
- So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted. (Ⅱ) - του̃ ἐπαγαγει̃ν ἐπ' αὐτὸν κραυγὴν πένητος καὶ κραυγὴν πτωχω̃ν εἰσακούσεται (Ⅲ) - ut pervenire facerent ad eum clamorem egeni,/ et audiret vocem pauperum./ (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃34 להביא עליו צעקת דל וצעקת עניים ישמע (Ⅴ)

S'il donne le repos, qui répandra le trouble? S'il cache sa face, qui pourra le voir? Il traite à l'égal soit une nation, soit un homme,
- When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only: (Ⅱ) - καὶ αὐτὸς ἡσυχίαν παρέξει καὶ τίς καταδικάσεται καὶ κρύψει πρόσωπον καὶ τίς ὄψεται αὐτόν καὶ κατὰ ἔθνους καὶ κατὰ ἀνθρώπου ὁμου̃ (Ⅲ) - Ipso enim concedente pacem, quis est qui condemnet ?/ ex quo absconderit vultum, quis est qui contempletur eum,/ et super gentes, et super omnes homines ?/ (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃34 והוא ישקט ומי ירשע ויסתר פנים ומי ישורנו ועל גוי ועל אדם יחד (Ⅴ)

Afin que l'impie ne domine plus, Et qu'il ne soit plus un piège pour le peuple.
- That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared. (Ⅱ) - βασιλεύων ἄνθρωπον ὑποκριτὴν ἀπὸ δυσκολίας λαου̃ (Ⅲ) - Qui regnare facit hominem hypocritam/ propter peccata populi./ (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃34 ממלך אדם חנף ממקשי עם (Ⅴ)

Car a-t-il jamais dit à Dieu: J'ai été châtié, je ne pécherai plus;
- Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more: (Ⅱ) - ὅτι πρὸς τὸν ἰσχυρὸν ὁ λέγων εἴληφα οὐκ ἐνεχυράσω (Ⅲ) - Quia ergo ego locutus sum ad Deum,/ te quoque non prohibebo./ (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃34 כי אל אל האמר נשאתי לא אחבל (Ⅴ)

Montre-moi ce que je ne vois pas; Si j'ai commis des injustices, je n'en commettrai plus?
- That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more. (Ⅱ) - ἄνευ ἐμαυτου̃ ὄψομαι σὺ δει̃ξόν μοι εἰ ἀδικίαν ἠργασάμην οὐ μὴ προσθήσω (Ⅲ) - Si erravi, tu doce me ;/ si iniquitatem locutus sum, ultra non addam./ (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃34 בלעדי אחזה אתה הרני אם עול פעלתי לא אסיף (Ⅴ)

Est-ce d'après toi que Dieu rendra la justice? C'est toi qui rejettes, qui choisis, mais non pas moi; Ce que tu sais, dis-le donc!
- Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest. (Ⅱ) - μὴ παρὰ σου̃ ἀποτείσει αὐτήν ὅτι ἀπώση̨ ὅτι σὺ ἐκλέξη̨ καὶ οὐκ ἐγώ καὶ τί ἔγνως λάλησον (Ⅲ) - Numquid a te Deus expetit eam, quia displicuit tibi ?/ tu enim cœpisti loqui, et non ego :/ quod si quid nosti melius, loquere./ (Ⅳ) - 33 ׃34 המעמך ישלמנה כי מאסת כי אתה תבחר ולא אני ומה ידעת דבר (Ⅴ)

Les hommes de sens seront de mon avis, Le sage qui m'écoute pensera comme moi.
- Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me. (Ⅱ) - διὸ συνετοὶ καρδίας ἐρου̃σιν ταυ̃τα ἀνὴρ δὲ σοφὸς ἀκήκοέν μου τὸ ῥη̃μα (Ⅲ) - Viri intelligentes loquantur mihi,/ et vir sapiens audiat me./ (Ⅳ) - 34 ׃34 אנשי לבב יאמרו לי וגבר חכם שמע לי (Ⅴ)

Job parle sans intelligence, Et ses discours manquent de raison.
- Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom. (Ⅱ) - Ιωβ δὲ οὐκ ἐν συνέσει ἐλάλησεν τὰ δὲ ῥήματα αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἐν ἐπιστήμη̨ (Ⅲ) - Job autem stulte locutus est,/ et verba illius non sonant disciplinam./ (Ⅳ) - 35 ׃34 איוב לא בדעת ידבר ודבריו לא בהשכיל (Ⅴ)

Qu'il continue donc à être éprouvé, Puisqu'il répond comme font les méchants!
- My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men. (Ⅱ) - οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ μάθε Ιωβ μὴ δω̨̃ς ἔτι ἀνταπόκρισιν ὥσπερ οἱ ἄφρονες (Ⅲ) - Pater mi, probetur Job usque ad finem :/ ne desinas ab homine iniquitatis :/ (Ⅳ) - 36 ׃34 אבי יבחן איוב עד נצח על תשבת באנשי און (Ⅴ)

Car il ajoute à ses fautes de nouveaux péchés; Il bat des mains au milieu de nous, Il multiplie ses paroles contre Dieu.
- For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God. (Ⅱ) - ἵνα μὴ προσθω̃μεν ἐφ' ἁμαρτίαις ἡμω̃ν ἀνομία δὲ ἐφ' ἡμι̃ν λογισθήσεται πολλὰ λαλούντων ῥήματα ἐναντίον του̃ κυρίου (Ⅲ) - quia addit super peccata sua blasphemiam,/ inter nos interim constringatur :/ et tunc ad judicium provocet sermonibus suis Deum.] (Ⅳ) - 37 ׃34 כי יסיף על חטאתו פשע בינינו יספוק וירב אמריו לאל ס (Ⅴ)
