- Sages, écoutez mes discours! Vous qui êtes intelligents, prêtez-moi l'oreille! (Ⅱ) - Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge. (Ⅲ) - ἀκούσατέ μου σοφοί ἐπιστάμενοι ἐνωτίζεσθε τὸ καλόν (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃34 שמעו חכמים מלי וידעים האזינו לי (Ⅴ)

Auris enim verba probat,/ et guttur escas gustu dijudicat./
- Car l'oreille discerne les paroles, Comme le palais savoure les aliments. (Ⅱ) - For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat. (Ⅲ) - ὅτι οὐ̃ς λόγους δοκιμάζει καὶ λάρυγξ γεύεται βρω̃σιν (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃34 כי אזן מלין תבחן וחך יטעם לאכל (Ⅴ)

Judicium eligamus nobis,/ et inter nos videamus quid sit melius./
- Choisissons ce qui est juste, Voyons entre nous ce qui est bon. (Ⅱ) - Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good. (Ⅲ) - κρίσιν ἑλώμεθα ἑαυτοι̃ς γνω̃μεν ἀνὰ μέσον ἑαυτω̃ν ὅ τι καλόν (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃34 משפט נבחרה לנו נדעה בינינו מה טוב (Ⅴ)

Quia dixit Job : Justus sum,/ et Deus subvertit judicium meum./
- Job dit: Je suis innocent, Et Dieu me refuse justice; (Ⅱ) - For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment. (Ⅲ) - ὅτι εἴρηκεν Ιωβ δίκαιός εἰμι ὁ κύριος ἀπήλλαξέν μου τὸ κρίμα (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃34 כי אמר איוב צדקתי ואל הסיר משפטי (Ⅴ)

In judicando enim me mendacium est :/ violenta sagitta mea absque ullo peccato./
- J'ai raison, et je passe pour menteur; Ma plaie est douloureuse, et je suis sans péché. (Ⅱ) - Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression. (Ⅲ) - ἐψεύσατο δὲ τω̨̃ κρίματί μου βίαιον τὸ βέλος μου ἄνευ ἀδικίας (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃34 על משפטי אכזב אנוש חצי בלי פשע (Ⅴ)

Quis est vir ut est Job,/ qui bibit subsannationem quasi aquam :/
- Y a-t-il un homme semblable à Job, Buvant la raillerie comme l'eau, (Ⅱ) - What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water? (Ⅲ) - τίς ἀνὴρ ὥσπερ Ιωβ πίνων μυκτηρισμὸν ὥσπερ ὕδωρ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃34 מי גבר כאיוב ישתה לעג כמים (Ⅴ)

qui graditur cum operantibus iniquitatem,/ et ambulat cum viris impiis ?/
- Marchant en société de ceux qui font le mal, Cheminant de pair avec les impies? (Ⅱ) - Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men. (Ⅲ) - οὐχ ἁμαρτὼν οὐδὲ ἀσεβήσας ἢ ὁδου̃ κοινωνήσας μετὰ ποιούντων τὰ ἄνομα του̃ πορευθη̃ναι μετὰ ἀσεβω̃ν (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃34 וארח לחברה עם פעלי און וללכת עם אנשי רשע (Ⅴ)

Dixit enim : Non placebit vir Deo,/ etiam si cucurrerit cum eo./
- Car il a dit: Il est inutile à l'homme De mettre son plaisir en Dieu. (Ⅱ) - For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God. (Ⅲ) - μὴ γὰρ εἴπη̨ς ὅτι οὐκ ἔσται ἐπισκοπὴ ἀνδρός καὶ ἐπισκοπὴ αὐτω̨̃ παρὰ κυρίου (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃34 כי אמר לא יסכן גבר ברצתו עם אלהים (Ⅴ)

Ideo, viri cordati, audite me :/ absit a Deo impietas,/ et ab Omnipotente iniquitas./
- Écoutez-moi donc, hommes de sens! Loin de Dieu l'injustice, Loin du Tout Puissant l'iniquité! (Ⅱ) - Therefore hearken unto me ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity. (Ⅲ) - διό συνετοὶ καρδίας ἀκούσατέ μου μή μοι εἴη ἔναντι κυρίου ἀσεβη̃σαι καὶ ἔναντι παντοκράτορος ταράξαι τὸ δίκαιον (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃34 לכן אנשי[c] לבב שמעו לי חללה לאל מרשע ושדי מעול (Ⅴ)

Opus enim hominis reddet ei,/ et juxta vias singulorum restituet eis./
- Il rend à l'homme selon ses oeuvres, Il rétribue chacun selon ses voies. (Ⅱ) - For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways. (Ⅲ) - ἀλλὰ ἀποδιδοι̃ ἀνθρώπω̨ καθὰ ποιει̃ ἕκαστος αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐν τρίβω̨ ἀνδρὸς εὑρήσει αὐτόν (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃34 כי פעל אדם ישלם לו וכארח איש ימצאנו (Ⅴ)

Vere enim Deus non condemnabit frustra,/ nec Omnipotens subvertet judicium./
- Non certes, Dieu ne commet pas l'iniquité; Le Tout Puissant ne viole pas la justice. (Ⅱ) - Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment. (Ⅲ) - οἴη̨ δὲ τὸν κύριον ἄτοπα ποιήσειν ἢ ὁ παντοκράτωρ ταράξει κρίσιν (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃34 אף אמנם אל לא ירשיע ושדי לא יעות משפט (Ⅴ)

Quem constituit alium super terram ?/ aut quem posuit super orbem quem fabricatus est ?/
- Qui l'a chargé de gouverner la terre? Qui a confié l'univers à ses soins? (Ⅱ) - Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world? (Ⅲ) - ὃς ἐποίησεν τὴν γη̃ν τίς δέ ἐστιν ὁ ποιω̃ν τὴν ὑπ' οὐρανὸν καὶ τὰ ἐνόντα πάντα (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃34 מי פקד עליו ארצה ומי שם תבל כלה (Ⅴ)

Si direxerit ad eum cor suum,/ spiritum illius et flatum ad se trahet./
- S'il ne pensait qu'à lui-même, S'il retirait à lui son esprit et son souffle, (Ⅱ) - If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; (Ⅲ) - εἰ γὰρ βούλοιτο συνέχειν καὶ τὸ πνευ̃μα παρ' αὐτω̨̃ κατασχει̃ν (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃34 אם ישים אליו לבו רוחו ונשמתו אליו יאסף (Ⅴ)

Deficiet omnis caro simul,/ et homo in cinerem revertetur./
- Toute chair périrait soudain, Et l'homme rentrerait dans la poussière. (Ⅱ) - All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust. (Ⅲ) - τελευτήσει πα̃σα σὰρξ ὁμοθυμαδόν πα̃ς δὲ βροτὸς εἰς γη̃ν ἀπελεύσεται ὅθεν καὶ ἐπλάσθη (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃34 יגוע כל בשר יחד ואדם על עפר ישוב (Ⅴ)

Si habes ergo intellectum, audi quod dicitur,/ et ausculta vocem eloquii mei :/
- Si tu as de l'intelligence, écoute ceci, Prête l'oreille au son de mes paroles! (Ⅱ) - If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words. (Ⅲ) - εἰ δὲ μὴ νουθετη̨̃ ἄκουε ταυ̃τα ἐνωτίζου φωνὴν ῥημάτων (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃34 ואם בינה שמעה זאת האזינה לקול מלי (Ⅴ)

numquid qui non amat judicium sanari potest ?/ et quomodo tu eum qui justus est in tantum condemnas ?/
- Un ennemi de la justice régnerait-il? Et condamneras-tu le juste, le puissant, (Ⅱ) - Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just? (Ⅲ) - ἰδὲ σὺ τὸν μισου̃ντα ἄνομα καὶ τὸν ὀλλύντα τοὺς πονηροὺς ὄντα αἰώνιον δίκαιον (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃34 האף שונא משפט יחבוש ואם צדיק כביר תרשיע (Ⅴ)

Qui dicit regi : Apostata ;/ qui vocat duces impios ;/
- Qui proclame la méchanceté des rois Et l'iniquité des princes, (Ⅱ) - Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly? (Ⅲ) - ἀσεβὴς ὁ λέγων βασιλει̃ παρανομει̃ς ἀσεβέστατε τοι̃ς ἄρχουσιν (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃34 האמר למלך בליעל רשע אל נדיבים (Ⅴ)

qui non accipit personas principum,/ nec cognovit tyrannum cum disceptaret contra pauperem :/ opus enim manuum ejus sunt universi./
- Qui n'a point égard à l'apparence des grands Et ne distingue pas le riche du pauvre, Parce que tous sont l'ouvrage de ses mains? (Ⅱ) - How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands. (Ⅲ) - ὃς οὐκ ἐπη̨σχύνθη πρόσωπον ἐντίμου οὐδὲ οἰ̃δεν τιμὴν θέσθαι ἁδροι̃ς θαυμασθη̃ναι πρόσωπα αὐτω̃ν (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃34 אשר לא נשא פני שרים ולא נכר שוע[c] לפני דל כי מעשה ידיו כלם (Ⅴ)

Subito morientur, et in media nocte turbabuntur populi :/ et pertransibunt, et auferent violentum absque manu./
- En un instant, ils perdent la vie; Au milieu de la nuit, un peuple chancelle et périt; Le puissant disparaît, sans la main d'aucun homme. (Ⅱ) - In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand. (Ⅲ) - κενὰ δὲ αὐτοι̃ς ἀποβήσεται τὸ κεκραγέναι καὶ δει̃σθαι ἀνδρός ἐχρήσαντο γὰρ παρανόμως ἐκκλινομένων ἀδυνάτων (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃34 רגע ימתו וחצות לילה יגעשו עם ויעברו ויסירו אביר לא ביד (Ⅴ)

Oculi enim ejus super vias hominum,/ et omnes gressus eorum considerat./
- Car Dieu voit la conduite de tous, Il a les regards sur les pas de chacun. (Ⅱ) - For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. (Ⅲ) - αὐτὸς γὰρ ὁρατής ἐστιν ἔργων ἀνθρώπων λέληθεν δὲ αὐτὸν οὐδὲν ὡ̃ν πράσσουσιν (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃34 כי עיניו על דרכי איש וכל צעדיו יראה (Ⅴ)

Non sunt tenebræ, et non est umbra mortis,/ ut abscondantur ibi qui operantur iniquitatem,/
- Il n'y a ni ténèbres ni ombre de la mort, Où puissent se cacher ceux qui commettent l'iniquité. (Ⅱ) - There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. (Ⅲ) - οὐδὲ ἔσται τόπος του̃ κρυβη̃ναι τοὺς ποιου̃ντας τὰ ἄνομα (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃34 אין חשך[c] ואין צלמות להסתר שם פעלי און (Ⅴ)

neque enim ultra in hominis potestate est,/ ut veniat ad Deum in judicium./
- Dieu n'a pas besoin d'observer longtemps, Pour qu'un homme entre en jugement avec lui; (Ⅱ) - For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God. (Ⅲ) - ὅτι οὐκ ἐπ' ἄνδρα θήσει ἔτι ὁ γὰρ κύριος πάντας ἐφορα̨̃ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃34 כי לא על איש ישים עוד להלך אל אל במשפט (Ⅴ)

Conteret multos, et innumerabiles,/ et stare faciet alios pro eis./
- Il brise les grands sans information, Et il met d'autres à leur place; (Ⅱ) - He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead. (Ⅲ) - ὁ καταλαμβάνων ἀνεξιχνίαστα ἔνδοξά τε καὶ ἐξαίσια ὡ̃ν οὐκ ἔστιν ἀριθμός (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃34 ירע כבירים לא חקר ויעמד אחרים תחתם (Ⅴ)

Novit enim opera eorum,/ et idcirco inducet noctem, et conterentur./
- Car il connaît leurs oeuvres. Ils les renverse de nuit, et ils sont écrasés; (Ⅱ) - Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed. (Ⅲ) - ὁ γνωρίζων αὐτω̃ν τὰ ἔργα καὶ στρέψει νύκτα καὶ ταπεινωθήσονται (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃34 לכן יכיר מעבדיהם והפך לילה וידכאו (Ⅴ)

Quasi impios percussit eos/ in loco videntium :/
- Il les frappe comme des impies, A la face de tous les regards. (Ⅱ) - He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others; (Ⅲ) - ἔσβεσεν δὲ ἀσεβει̃ς ὁρατοὶ δὲ ἐναντίον αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃34 תחת רשעים ספקם במקום ראים (Ⅴ)

qui quasi de industria recesserunt ab eo,/ et omnes vias ejus intelligere noluerunt :/
- En se détournant de lui, En abandonnant toutes ses voies, (Ⅱ) - Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways: (Ⅲ) - ὅτι ἐξέκλιναν ἐκ νόμου θεου̃ δικαιώματα δὲ αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃34 אשר על כן סרו מאחריו וכל דרכיו לא השכילו (Ⅴ)

ut pervenire facerent ad eum clamorem egeni,/ et audiret vocem pauperum./
- Ils ont fait monter à Dieu le cri du pauvre, Ils l'ont rendu attentif aux cris des malheureux. (Ⅱ) - So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted. (Ⅲ) - του̃ ἐπαγαγει̃ν ἐπ' αὐτὸν κραυγὴν πένητος καὶ κραυγὴν πτωχω̃ν εἰσακούσεται (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃34 להביא עליו צעקת דל וצעקת עניים ישמע (Ⅴ)

Ipso enim concedente pacem, quis est qui condemnet ?/ ex quo absconderit vultum, quis est qui contempletur eum,/ et super gentes, et super omnes homines ?/
- S'il donne le repos, qui répandra le trouble? S'il cache sa face, qui pourra le voir? Il traite à l'égal soit une nation, soit un homme, (Ⅱ) - When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only: (Ⅲ) - καὶ αὐτὸς ἡσυχίαν παρέξει καὶ τίς καταδικάσεται καὶ κρύψει πρόσωπον καὶ τίς ὄψεται αὐτόν καὶ κατὰ ἔθνους καὶ κατὰ ἀνθρώπου ὁμου̃ (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃34 והוא ישקט ומי ירשע ויסתר פנים ומי ישורנו ועל גוי ועל אדם יחד (Ⅴ)

Qui regnare facit hominem hypocritam/ propter peccata populi./
- Afin que l'impie ne domine plus, Et qu'il ne soit plus un piège pour le peuple. (Ⅱ) - That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared. (Ⅲ) - βασιλεύων ἄνθρωπον ὑποκριτὴν ἀπὸ δυσκολίας λαου̃ (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃34 ממלך אדם חנף ממקשי עם (Ⅴ)

Quia ergo ego locutus sum ad Deum,/ te quoque non prohibebo./
- Car a-t-il jamais dit à Dieu: J'ai été châtié, je ne pécherai plus; (Ⅱ) - Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more: (Ⅲ) - ὅτι πρὸς τὸν ἰσχυρὸν ὁ λέγων εἴληφα οὐκ ἐνεχυράσω (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃34 כי אל אל האמר נשאתי לא אחבל (Ⅴ)

Si erravi, tu doce me ;/ si iniquitatem locutus sum, ultra non addam./
- Montre-moi ce que je ne vois pas; Si j'ai commis des injustices, je n'en commettrai plus? (Ⅱ) - That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more. (Ⅲ) - ἄνευ ἐμαυτου̃ ὄψομαι σὺ δει̃ξόν μοι εἰ ἀδικίαν ἠργασάμην οὐ μὴ προσθήσω (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃34 בלעדי אחזה אתה הרני אם עול פעלתי לא אסיף (Ⅴ)

Numquid a te Deus expetit eam, quia displicuit tibi ?/ tu enim cœpisti loqui, et non ego :/ quod si quid nosti melius, loquere./
- Est-ce d'après toi que Dieu rendra la justice? C'est toi qui rejettes, qui choisis, mais non pas moi; Ce que tu sais, dis-le donc! (Ⅱ) - Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest. (Ⅲ) - μὴ παρὰ σου̃ ἀποτείσει αὐτήν ὅτι ἀπώση̨ ὅτι σὺ ἐκλέξη̨ καὶ οὐκ ἐγώ καὶ τί ἔγνως λάλησον (Ⅳ) - 33 ׃34 המעמך ישלמנה כי מאסת כי אתה תבחר ולא אני ומה ידעת דבר (Ⅴ)

Viri intelligentes loquantur mihi,/ et vir sapiens audiat me./
- Les hommes de sens seront de mon avis, Le sage qui m'écoute pensera comme moi. (Ⅱ) - Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me. (Ⅲ) - διὸ συνετοὶ καρδίας ἐρου̃σιν ταυ̃τα ἀνὴρ δὲ σοφὸς ἀκήκοέν μου τὸ ῥη̃μα (Ⅳ) - 34 ׃34 אנשי לבב יאמרו לי וגבר חכם שמע לי (Ⅴ)

Job autem stulte locutus est,/ et verba illius non sonant disciplinam./
- Job parle sans intelligence, Et ses discours manquent de raison. (Ⅱ) - Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom. (Ⅲ) - Ιωβ δὲ οὐκ ἐν συνέσει ἐλάλησεν τὰ δὲ ῥήματα αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἐν ἐπιστήμη̨ (Ⅳ) - 35 ׃34 איוב לא בדעת ידבר ודבריו לא בהשכיל (Ⅴ)

Pater mi, probetur Job usque ad finem :/ ne desinas ab homine iniquitatis :/
- Qu'il continue donc à être éprouvé, Puisqu'il répond comme font les méchants! (Ⅱ) - My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men. (Ⅲ) - οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ μάθε Ιωβ μὴ δω̨̃ς ἔτι ἀνταπόκρισιν ὥσπερ οἱ ἄφρονες (Ⅳ) - 36 ׃34 אבי יבחן איוב עד נצח על תשבת באנשי און (Ⅴ)

quia addit super peccata sua blasphemiam,/ inter nos interim constringatur :/ et tunc ad judicium provocet sermonibus suis Deum.]
- Car il ajoute à ses fautes de nouveaux péchés; Il bat des mains au milieu de nous, Il multiplie ses paroles contre Dieu. (Ⅱ) - For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God. (Ⅲ) - ἵνα μὴ προσθω̃μεν ἐφ' ἁμαρτίαις ἡμω̃ν ἀνομία δὲ ἐφ' ἡμι̃ν λογισθήσεται πολλὰ λαλούντων ῥήματα ἐναντίον του̃ κυρίου (Ⅳ) - 37 ׃34 כי יסיף על חטאתו פשע בינינו יספוק וירב אמריו לאל ס (Ⅴ)
