Attends un peu, et je vais poursuivre, Car j'ai des paroles encore pour la cause de Dieu.
- Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf. (Ⅱ) - μει̃νόν με μικρὸν ἔτι ἵνα διδάξω σε ἔτι γὰρ ἐν ἐμοί ἐστιν λέξις (Ⅲ) - Sustine me paululum, et indicabo tibi :/ adhuc enim habeo quod pro Deo loquar./ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃36 כתר לי זעיר ואחוך כי עוד לאלוה מלים (Ⅴ)

Je prendrai mes raisons de haut, Et je prouverai la justice de mon créateur.
- I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker. (Ⅱ) - ἀναλαβὼν τὴν ἐπιστήμην μου μακρὰν ἔργοις δέ μου δίκαια ἐρω̃ (Ⅲ) - Repetam scientiam meam a principio,/ et operatorem meum probabo justum./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃36 אשא דעי למרחוק ולפעלי אתן צדק (Ⅴ)

Sois-en sûr, mes discours ne sont pas des mensonges, Mes sentiments devant toi sont sincères.
- For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee. (Ⅱ) - ἐπ' ἀληθείας καὶ οὐκ ἄδικα ῥήματα ἀδίκως συνίεις (Ⅲ) - Vere enim absque mendacio sermones mei,/ et perfecta scientia probabitur tibi./ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃36 כי אמנם לא שקר מלי תמים דעות עמך (Ⅴ)

Dieu est puissant, mais il ne rejette personne; Il est puissant par la force de son intelligence.
- Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom. (Ⅱ) - γίγνωσκε δὲ ὅτι ὁ κύριος οὐ μὴ ἀποποιήσηται τὸν ἄκακον δυνατὸς ἰσχύι καρδίας (Ⅲ) - Deus potentes non abjicit,/ cum et ipse sit potens :/ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃36 הן אל כביר ולא ימאס כביר כח לב (Ⅴ)

Il ne laisse pas vivre le méchant, Et il fait droit aux malheureux.
- He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor. (Ⅱ) - ἀσεβη̃ οὐ μὴ ζωοποιήσει καὶ κρίμα πτωχω̃ν δώσει (Ⅲ) - sed non salvat impios,/ et judicium pauperibus tribuit./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃36 לא יחיה רשע ומשפט עניים יתן (Ⅴ)

Il ne détourne pas les yeux de dessus les justes, Il les place sur le trône avec les rois, Il les y fait asseoir pour toujours, afin qu'ils soient élevés.
- He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted. (Ⅱ) - οὐκ ἀφελει̃ ἀπὸ δικαίου ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτου̃ καὶ μετὰ βασιλέων εἰς θρόνον καὶ καθιει̃ αὐτοὺς εἰς νει̃κος καὶ ὑψωθήσονται (Ⅲ) - Non auferet a justo oculos suos :/ et reges in solio collocat in perpetuum,/ et illi eriguntur./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃36 לא יגרע מצדיק עיניו ואת מלכים לכסא וישיבם לנצח ויגבהו (Ⅴ)

Viennent-ils à tomber dans les chaînes, Sont-ils pris dans les liens de l'adversité,
- And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction; (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ πεπεδημένοι ἐν χειροπέδαις συσχεθήσονται ἐν σχοινίοις πενίας (Ⅲ) - Et si fuerint in catenis,/ et vinciantur funibus paupertatis,/ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃36 ואם אסורים בזקים ילכדון בחבלי עני (Ⅴ)

Il leur dénonce leurs oeuvres, Leurs transgressions, leur orgueil;
- Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀναγγελει̃ αὐτοι̃ς τὰ ἔργα αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὰ παραπτώματα αὐτω̃ν ὅτι ἰσχύσουσιν (Ⅲ) - indicabit eis opera eorum,/ et scelera eorum, quia violenti fuerunt./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃36 ויגד להם פעלם ופשעיהם כי יתגברו (Ⅴ)

Il les avertit pour leur instruction, Il les exhorte à se détourner de l'iniquité.
- He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity. (Ⅱ) - ἀλλὰ του̃ δικαίου εἰσακούσεται καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὅτι ἐπιστραφήσονται ἐξ ἀδικίας (Ⅲ) - Revelabit quoque aurem eorum, ut corripiat :/ et loquetur, ut revertantur ab iniquitate./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃36 ויגל אזנם למוסר ויאמר כי ישבון מאון (Ⅴ)

S'ils écoutent et se soumettent, Ils achèvent leurs jours dans le bonheur, Leurs années dans la joie.
- If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. (Ⅱ) - ἐὰν ἀκούσωσιν καὶ δουλεύσωσιν συντελέσουσιν τὰς ἡμέρας αὐτω̃ν ἐν ἀγαθοι̃ς καὶ τὰ ἔτη αὐτω̃ν ἐν εὐπρεπείαις (Ⅲ) - Si audierint et observaverint, complebunt dies suos in bono,/ et annos suos in gloria :/ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃36 אם ישמעו ויעבדו יכלו ימיהם בטוב ושניהם בנעימים (Ⅴ)

S'ils n'écoutent pas, ils périssent par le glaive, Ils expirent dans leur aveuglement.
- But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge. (Ⅱ) - ἀσεβει̃ς δὲ οὐ διασώ̨ζει παρὰ τὸ μὴ βούλεσθαι εἰδέναι αὐτοὺς τὸν κύριον καὶ διότι νουθετούμενοι ἀνήκοοι ἠ̃σαν (Ⅲ) - si autem non audierint,/ transibunt per gladium,/ et consumentur in stultitia./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃36 ואם לא ישמעו בשלח יעברו ויגועו כבלי דעת[1] (Ⅴ)

Les impies se livrent à la colère, Ils ne crient pas à Dieu quand il les enchaîne;
- But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὑποκριταὶ καρδία̨ τάξουσιν θυμόν οὐ βοήσονται ὅτι ἔδησεν αὐτούς (Ⅲ) - Simulatores et callidi provocant iram Dei,/ neque clamabunt cum vincti fuerint./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃36 וחנפי לב ישימו אף לא ישועו כי אסרם (Ⅴ)

Ils perdent la vie dans leur jeunesse, Ils meurent comme les débauchés.
- They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean. (Ⅱ) - ἀποθάνοι τοίνυν ἐν νεότητι ἡ ψυχὴ αὐτω̃ν ἡ δὲ ζωὴ αὐτω̃ν τιτρωσκομένη ὑπὸ ἀγγέλων (Ⅲ) - Morietur in tempestate anima eorum,/ et vita eorum inter effeminatos./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃36 תמת בנער נפשם וחיתם בקדשים (Ⅴ)

Mais Dieu sauve le malheureux dans sa misère, Et c'est par la souffrance qu'il l'avertit.
- He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression. (Ⅱ) - ἀνθ' ὡ̃ν ἔθλιψαν ἀσθενη̃ καὶ ἀδύνατον κρίμα δὲ πραέων ἐκθήσει (Ⅲ) - Eripiet de angustia sua pauperem,/ et revelabit in tribulatione aurem ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃36 יחלץ עני בעניו ויגל בלחץ אזנם (Ⅴ)

Il te retirera aussi de la détresse, Pour te mettre au large, en pleine liberté, Et ta table sera chargée de mets succulents.
- Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness. (Ⅱ) - καὶ προσέτι ἠπάτησέν σε ἐκ στόματος ἐχθρου̃ ἄβυσσος κατάχυσις ὑποκάτω αὐτη̃ς καὶ κατέβη τράπεζά σου πλήρης πιότητος (Ⅲ) - Igitur salvabit te de ore angusto latissime,/ et non habente fundamentum subter se :/ requies autem mensæ tuæ erit plena pinguedine./ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃36 ואף הסיתך מפי צר רחב לא מוצק תחתיה ונחת שלחנך מלא דשן (Ⅴ)

Mais si tu défends ta cause comme un impie, Le châtiment est inséparable de ta cause.
- But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee. (Ⅱ) - οὐχ ὑστερήσει δὲ ἀπὸ δικαίων κρίμα (Ⅲ) - Causa tua quasi impii judicata est :/ causam judiciumque recipies./ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃36 ודין רשע מלאת דין ומשפט יתמכו (Ⅴ)

Que l'irritation ne t'entraîne pas à la moquerie, Et que la grandeur de la rançon ne te fasse pas dévier!
- Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee. (Ⅱ) - θυμὸς δὲ ἐπ' ἀσεβει̃ς ἔσται δι' ἀσέβειαν δώρων ὡ̃ν ἐδέχοντο ἐπ' ἀδικίαις (Ⅲ) - Non te ergo superet ira ut aliquem opprimas :/ nec multitudo donorum inclinet te./ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃36 כי חמה פן יסיתך בספק ורב כפר אל יטך (Ⅴ)

Tes cris suffiraient-ils pour te sortir d'angoisse, Et même toutes les forces que tu pourrais déployer?
- Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength. (Ⅱ) - μή σε ἐκκλινάτω ἑκὼν ὁ νου̃ς δεήσεως ἐν ἀνάγκη̨ ὄντων ἀδυνάτων καὶ πάντας τοὺς κραταιου̃ντας ἰσχύν (Ⅲ) - Depone magnitudinem tuam absque tribulatione,/ et omnes robustos fortitudine./ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃36 היערך שועך[c] לא בצר וכל מאמצי כח (Ⅴ)

Ne soupire pas après la nuit, Qui enlève les peuples de leur place.
- Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place. (Ⅱ) - μὴ ἐξελκύση̨ς τὴν νύκτα του̃ ἀναβη̃ναι λαοὺς ἀντ' αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Ne protrahas noctem,/ ut ascendant populi pro eis./ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃36 אל תשאף הלילה לעלות עמים תחתם (Ⅴ)

Garde-toi de te livrer au mal, Car la souffrance t'y dispose.
- Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction. (Ⅱ) - ἀλλὰ φύλαξαι μὴ πράξη̨ς ἄτοπα ἐπὶ του̃τον γὰρ ἐξείλω ἀπὸ πτωχείας (Ⅲ) - Cave ne declines ad iniquitatem :/ hanc enim cœpisti sequi post miseriam./ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃36 השמר אל תפן אל און כי על זה בחרת מעני (Ⅴ)

Dieu est grand par sa puissance; Qui saurait enseigner comme lui?
- Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him? (Ⅱ) - ἰδοὺ ὁ ἰσχυρὸς κραταιώσει ἐν ἰσχύι αὐτου̃ τίς γάρ ἐστιν κατ' αὐτὸν δυνάστης (Ⅲ) - Ecce Deus excelsus in fortitudine sua,/ et nullus ei similis in legislatoribus./ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃36 הן אל ישגיב בכחו מי כמהו מורה (Ⅴ)

- Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity? (Ⅱ) - τίς δέ ἐστιν ὁ ἐτάζων αὐτου̃ τὰ ἔργα ἢ τίς ὁ εἴπας ἔπραξεν ἄδικα (Ⅲ) - Quis poterit scrutari vias ejus ?/ aut quis potest ei dicere : Operatus es iniquitatem ?/ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃36 מי פקד עליו דרכו ומי אמר פעלת עולה (Ⅴ)

Souviens-toi d'exalter ses oeuvres, Que célèbrent tous les hommes.
- Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold. (Ⅱ) - μνήσθητι ὅτι μεγάλα ἐστὶν αὐτου̃ τὰ ἔργα ὡ̃ν ἠ̃ρξαν ἄνδρες (Ⅲ) - Memento quod ignores opus ejus,/ de quo cecinerunt viri./ (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃36 זכר כי תשגיא פעלו אשר שררו אנשים (Ⅴ)

Dieu est grand, mais sa grandeur nous échappe, Le nombre de ses années est impénétrable.
- Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out. (Ⅱ) - ἰδοὺ ὁ ἰσχυρὸς πολύς καὶ οὐ γνωσόμεθα ἀριθμὸς ἐτω̃ν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀπέραντος (Ⅲ) - Ecce Deus magnus vincens scientiam nostram :/ numerus annorum ejus inæstimabilis./ (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃36 הן אל שגיא ולא נדע מספר שניו ולא חקר (Ⅴ)

Il attire à lui les gouttes d'eau, Il les réduit en vapeur et forme la pluie;
- For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof: (Ⅱ) - ἀριθμηταὶ δὲ αὐτω̨̃ σταγόνες ὑετου̃ καὶ ἐπιχυθήσονται ὑετω̨̃ εἰς νεφέλην (Ⅲ) - Qui aufert stillas pluviæ,/ et effundit imbres ad instar gurgitum,/ (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃36 כי יגרע נטפי מים יזקו מטר לאדו (Ⅴ)

Les nuages la laissent couler, Ils la répandent sur la foule des hommes.
- Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly. (Ⅱ) - ῥυήσονται παλαιώματα ἐσκίασεν δὲ νέφη ἐπὶ ἀμυθήτων βροτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - qui de nubibus fluunt/ quæ prætexunt cuncta desuper./ (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃36 אשר יזלו שחקים ירעפו עלי אדם רב (Ⅴ)

Et qui comprendra le déchirement de la nuée, Le fracas de sa tente?
- Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle? (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐὰν συνη̨̃ ἀπεκτάσεις νεφέλης ἰσότητα σκηνη̃ς αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Si voluerit extendere nubes quasi tentorium suum,/ (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃36 אף אם יבין מפרשי עב תשאות סכתו (Ⅴ)

Voici, il étend autour de lui sa lumière, Et il se cache jusque dans les profondeurs de la mer.
- Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea. (Ⅱ) - ἰδοὺ ἐκτείνει ἐπ' αὐτὸν ηδω καὶ ῥιζώματα τη̃ς θαλάσσης ἐκάλυψεν (Ⅲ) - et fulgurare lumine suo desuper,/ cardines quoque maris operiet./ (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃36 הן פרש עליו אורו ושרשי הים כסה (Ⅴ)

Par ces moyens il juge les peuples, Et il donne la nourriture avec abondance.
- For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance. (Ⅱ) - ἐν γὰρ αὐτοι̃ς κρινει̃ λαούς δώσει τροφὴν τω̨̃ ἰσχύοντι (Ⅲ) - Per hæc enim judicat populos,/ et dat escas multis mortalibus./ (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃36 כי בם ידין עמים יתן אכל למכביר (Ⅴ)

Il prend la lumière dans sa main, Il la dirige sur ses adversaires.
- With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt. (Ⅱ) - ἐπὶ χειρω̃ν ἐκάλυψεν φω̃ς καὶ ἐνετείλατο περὶ αὐτη̃ς ἐν ἀπαντω̃ντι (Ⅲ) - In manibus abscondit lucem,/ et præcepit ei ut rursus adveniat./ (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃36 על כפים כסה אור ויצו עליה במפגיע (Ⅴ)

Il s'annonce par un grondement; Les troupeaux pressentent son approche.
- The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour. (Ⅱ) - ἀναγγελει̃ περὶ αὐτου̃ φίλον αὐτου̃ κτη̃σις καὶ περὶ ἀδικίας (Ⅲ) - Annuntiat de ea amico suo, quod possessio ejus sit,/ et ad eam possit ascendere.] (Ⅳ) - 33 ׃36 יגיד עליו רעו מקנה אף על עולה (Ⅴ)
