Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
- Alors Jésus fut emmené par l'Esprit dans le désert, pour être tenté par le diable. (Ⅱ) - Τότε ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἀνήχθη εἰς τὴν ἔρημον ὑπὸ τοῦ πνεύματος, πειρασθῆναι ὑπὸ τοῦ διαβόλου. (Ⅲ) - Tunc Jesus ductus est in desertum a Spiritu, ut tentaretur a diabolo. (Ⅳ)

And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
- Après avoir jeûné quarante jours et quarante nuits, il eut faim. (Ⅱ) - καὶ νηστεύσας ἡμέρας τεσσεράκοντα καὶ νύκτας τεσσεράκοντα ὕστερον ἐπείνασεν. (Ⅲ) - Et cum jejunasset quadraginta diebus, et quadraginta noctibus, postea esuriit. (Ⅳ)

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
- Le tentateur, s'étant approché, lui dit: Si tu es Fils de Dieu, ordonne que ces pierres deviennent des pains. (Ⅱ) - καὶ προσελθὼν ⸂ὁ πειράζων εἶπεν αὐτῷ⸃· Εἰ υἱὸς εἶ τοῦ θεοῦ, εἰπὲ ἵνα οἱ λίθοι οὗτοι ἄρτοι γένωνται. (Ⅲ) - Et accedens tentator dixit ei : Si Filius Dei es, dic ut lapides isti panes fiant. (Ⅳ)

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
- Jésus répondit: Il est écrit: L'homme ne vivra pas de pain seulement, mais de toute parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu. (Ⅱ) - ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· Γέγραπται· Οὐκ ἐπ’ ἄρτῳ μόνῳ ζήσεται ⸀ὁ ἄνθρωπος, ἀλλ’ ⸀ἐπὶ παντὶ ῥήματι ἐκπορευομένῳ διὰ στόματος θεοῦ. (Ⅲ) - Qui respondens dixit : Scriptum est : Non in solo pane vivit homo, sed in omni verbo, quod procedit de ore Dei. (Ⅳ)

Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
- Le diable le transporta dans la ville sainte, le plaça sur le haut du temple, (Ⅱ) - Τότε παραλαμβάνει αὐτὸν ὁ διάβολος εἰς τὴν ἁγίαν πόλιν, καὶ ⸀ἔστησεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸ πτερύγιον τοῦ ἱεροῦ, (Ⅲ) - Tunc assumpsit eum diabolus in sanctam civitatem, et statuit eum super pinnaculum templi, (Ⅳ)

And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
- et lui dit: Si tu es Fils de Dieu, jette-toi en bas; car il est écrit: Il donnera des ordres à ses anges à ton sujet; Et ils te porteront sur les mains, De peur que ton pied ne heurte contre une pierre. (Ⅱ) - καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ· Εἰ υἱὸς εἶ τοῦ θεοῦ, βάλε σεαυτὸν κάτω· γέγραπται γὰρ ὅτι Τοῖς ἀγγέλοις αὐτοῦ ἐντελεῖται περὶ σοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ χειρῶν ἀροῦσίν σε, μήποτε προσκόψῃς πρὸς λίθον τὸν πόδα σου. (Ⅲ) - et dixit ei : Si Filius Dei es, mitte te deorsum. Scriptum est enim : Quia angelis suis mandavit de te, et in manibus tollent te, ne forte offendas ad lapidem pedem tuum. (Ⅳ)

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
- Jésus lui dit: Il est aussi écrit: Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur, ton Dieu. (Ⅱ) - ἔφη αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Πάλιν γέγραπται· Οὐκ ἐκπειράσεις κύριον τὸν θεόν σου. (Ⅲ) - Ait illi Jesus : Rursum scriptum est : Non tentabis Dominum Deum tuum. (Ⅳ)

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
- Le diable le transporta encore sur une montagne très élevée, lui montra tous les royaumes du monde et leur gloire, (Ⅱ) - Πάλιν παραλαμβάνει αὐτὸν ὁ διάβολος εἰς ὄρος ὑψηλὸν λίαν, καὶ δείκνυσιν αὐτῷ πάσας τὰς βασιλείας τοῦ κόσμου καὶ τὴν δόξαν αὐτῶν (Ⅲ) - Iterum assumpsit eum diabolus in montem excelsum valde : et ostendit ei omnia regna mundi, et gloriam eorum, (Ⅳ)

And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
- et lui dit: Je te donnerai toutes ces choses, si tu te prosternes et m'adores. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ⸀εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ταῦτά ⸂σοι πάντα⸃ δώσω, ἐὰν πεσὼν προσκυνήσῃς μοι. (Ⅲ) - et dixit ei : Hæc omnia tibi dabo, si cadens adoraveris me. (Ⅳ)

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
- Jésus lui dit: Retire-toi, Satan! Car il est écrit: Tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, et tu le serviras lui seul. (Ⅱ) - τότε λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· ⸀Ὕπαγε, Σατανᾶ· γέγραπται γάρ· Κύριον τὸν θεόν σου προσκυνήσεις καὶ αὐτῷ μόνῳ λατρεύσεις. (Ⅲ) - Tunc dicit ei Jesus : Vade Satana : Scriptum est enim : Dominum Deum tuum adorabis, et illi soli servies. (Ⅳ)

Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
- Alors le diable le laissa. Et voici, des anges vinrent auprès de Jésus, et le servaient. (Ⅱ) - τότε ἀφίησιν αὐτὸν ὁ διάβολος, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄγγελοι προσῆλθον καὶ διηκόνουν αὐτῷ. (Ⅲ) - Tunc reliquit eum diabolus : et ecce angeli accesserunt, et ministrabant ei.\ (Ⅳ)

Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;
- Jésus, ayant appris que Jean avait été livré, se retira dans la Galilée. (Ⅱ) - Ἀκούσας ⸀δὲ ὅτι Ἰωάννης παρεδόθη ἀνεχώρησεν εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν. (Ⅲ) - Cum autem audisset Jesus quod Joannes traditus esset, secessit in Galilæam : (Ⅳ)

And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:
- Il quitta Nazareth, et vint demeurer à Capernaüm, située près de la mer, dans le territoire de Zabulon et de Nephthali, (Ⅱ) - καὶ καταλιπὼν τὴν Ναζαρὰ ἐλθὼν κατῴκησεν εἰς Καφαρναοὺμ τὴν παραθαλασσίαν ἐν ὁρίοις Ζαβουλὼν καὶ Νεφθαλίμ· (Ⅲ) - et, relicta civitate Nazareth, venit, et habitavit in Capharnaum maritima, in finibus Zabulon et Nephthalim : (Ⅳ)

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
- afin que s'accomplît ce qui avait été annoncé par Ésaïe, le prophète: (Ⅱ) - ἵνα πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν διὰ Ἠσαΐου τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος· (Ⅲ) - ut adimpleretur quod dictum est per Isaiam prophetam : (Ⅳ)

The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
- Le peuple de Zabulon et de Nephthali, De la contrée voisine de la mer, du pays au delà du Jourdain, Et de la Galilée des Gentils, (Ⅱ) - Γῆ Ζαβουλὼν καὶ γῆ Νεφθαλίμ, ὁδὸν θαλάσσης, πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου, Γαλιλαία τῶν ἐθνῶν, (Ⅲ) - Terra Zabulon, et terra Nephthalim,/ via maris trans Jordanem,/ Galilæa gentium :/ (Ⅳ)

The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
- Ce peuple, assis dans les ténèbres, A vu une grande lumière; Et sur ceux qui étaient assis dans la région et l'ombre de la mort La lumière s'est levée. (Ⅱ) - ὁ λαὸς ὁ καθήμενος ἐν ⸀σκοτίᾳ ⸂φῶς εἶδεν⸃ μέγα, καὶ τοῖς καθημένοις ἐν χώρᾳ καὶ σκιᾷ θανάτου φῶς ἀνέτειλεν αὐτοῖς. (Ⅲ) - populus, qui sedebat in tenebris,/ vidit lucem magnam :/ et sedentibus in regione umbræ mortis,/ lux orta est eis.] (Ⅳ)

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
- Dès ce moment Jésus commença à prêcher, et à dire: Repentez-vous, car le royaume des cieux est proche. (Ⅱ) - Ἀπὸ τότε ἤρξατο ὁ Ἰησοῦς κηρύσσειν καὶ λέγειν· Μετανοεῖτε, ἤγγικεν γὰρ ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν. (Ⅲ) - Exinde cœpit Jesus prædicare, et dicere : Pœnitentiam agite : appropinquavit enim regnum cælorum.\ (Ⅳ)

And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
- Comme il marchait le long de la mer de Galilée, il vit deux frères, Simon, appelé Pierre, et André, son frère, qui jetaient un filet dans la mer; car ils étaient pêcheurs. (Ⅱ) - Περιπατῶν δὲ παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν τῆς Γαλιλαίας εἶδεν δύο ἀδελφούς, Σίμωνα τὸν λεγόμενον Πέτρον καὶ Ἀνδρέαν τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ, βάλλοντας ἀμφίβληστρον εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, ἦσαν γὰρ ἁλιεῖς· (Ⅲ) - Ambulans autem Jesus juxta mare Galilææ, vidit duos fratres, Simonem, qui vocatur Petrus, et Andream fratrem ejus, mittentes rete in mare (erant enim piscatores), (Ⅳ)

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
- Il leur dit: Suivez-moi, et je vous ferai pêcheurs d'hommes. (Ⅱ) - καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· Δεῦτε ὀπίσω μου, καὶ ποιήσω ὑμᾶς ἁλιεῖς ἀνθρώπων. (Ⅲ) - et ait illis : Venite post me, et faciam vos fieri piscatores hominum. (Ⅳ)

And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
- Aussitôt, ils laissèrent les filets, et le suivirent. (Ⅱ) - οἱ δὲ εὐθέως ἀφέντες τὰ δίκτυα ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ. (Ⅲ) - At illi continuo relictis retibus secuti sunt eum. (Ⅳ)

And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
- De là étant allé plus loin, il vit deux autres frères, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean, son frère, qui étaient dans une barque avec Zébédée, leur père, et qui réparaient leurs filets. (Ⅱ) - Καὶ προβὰς ἐκεῖθεν εἶδεν ἄλλους δύο ἀδελφούς, Ἰάκωβον τὸν τοῦ Ζεβεδαίου καὶ Ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ, ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ μετὰ Ζεβεδαίου τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῶν καταρτίζοντας τὰ δίκτυα αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτούς. (Ⅲ) - Et procedens inde, vidit alios duos fratres, Jacobum Zebedæi, et Joannem fratrem ejus, in navi cum Zebedæo patre eorum, reficientes retia sua : et vocavit eos. (Ⅳ)

And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
- Il les appela, et aussitôt ils laissèrent la barque et leur père, et le suivirent. (Ⅱ) - οἱ δὲ εὐθέως ἀφέντες τὸ πλοῖον καὶ τὸν πατέρα αὐτῶν ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ. (Ⅲ) - Illi autem statim relictis retibus et patre, secuti sunt eum. (Ⅳ)

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
- Jésus parcourait toute la Galilée, enseignant dans les synagogues, prêchant la bonne nouvelle du royaume, et guérissant toute maladie et toute infirmité parmi le peuple. (Ⅱ) - Καὶ περιῆγεν ⸂ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ Γαλιλαίᾳ⸃, διδάσκων ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς αὐτῶν καὶ κηρύσσων τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς βασιλείας καὶ θεραπεύων πᾶσαν νόσον καὶ πᾶσαν μαλακίαν ἐν τῷ λαῷ. (Ⅲ) - Et circuibat Jesus totam Galilæam, docens in synagogis eorum, et prædicans Evangelium regni : et sanans omnem languorem, et omnem infirmitatem in populo. (Ⅳ)

And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
- Sa renommée se répandit dans toute la Syrie, et on lui amenait tous ceux qui souffraient de maladies et de douleurs de divers genres, des démoniaques, des lunatiques, des paralytiques; et il les guérissait. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ἡ ἀκοὴ αὐτοῦ εἰς ὅλην τὴν Συρίαν· καὶ προσήνεγκαν αὐτῷ πάντας τοὺς κακῶς ἔχοντας ποικίλαις νόσοις καὶ βασάνοις ⸀συνεχομένους, δαιμονιζομένους καὶ σεληνιαζομένους καὶ παραλυτικούς, καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτούς. (Ⅲ) - Et abiit opinio ejus in totam Syriam, et obtulerunt ei omnes male habentes, variis languoribus, et tormentis comprehensos, et qui dæmonia habebant, et lunaticos, et paralyticos, et curavit eos : (Ⅳ)

And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
- Une grande foule le suivit, de la Galilée, de la Décapole, de Jérusalem, de la Judée, et d'au delà du Jourdain. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ ὄχλοι πολλοὶ ἀπὸ τῆς Γαλιλαίας καὶ Δεκαπόλεως καὶ Ἱεροσολύμων καὶ Ἰουδαίας καὶ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου. (Ⅲ) - et secutæ sunt eum turbæ multæ de Galilæa, et Decapoli, et de Jerosolymis, et de Judæa, et de trans Jordanem. (Ⅳ)
