Against Egypt, against the army of Pharaohnecho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah.
- Sur l'Égypte. Sur l'armée de Pharaon Neco, roi d'Égypte, qui était près du fleuve de l'Euphrate, à Carkemisch, et qui fut battue par Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, la quatrième année de Jojakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda. (Ⅱ) - Ad Ægyptum, adversum exercitum Pharaonis Nechao regis Ægypti, qui erat juxta fluvium Euphraten in Charcamis, quem percussit Nabuchodonosor rex Babylonis, in quarto anno Joakim filii Josiæ regis Juda. Order ye the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle.

Harness the horses; and get up, ye horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; furbish the spears, and put on the brigandines.

Wherefore have I seen them dismayed and turned away back? and their mighty ones are beaten down, and are fled apace, and look not back: for fear was round about, saith the LORD.
- Que vois-je? Ils ont peur, ils reculent; Leurs vaillants hommes sont battus; Ils fuient sans se retourner... L'épouvante est de toutes parts, dit l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - Quid igitur ? vidi ipsos pavidos,/ et terga vertentes,/ fortes eorum cæsos :/ fugerunt conciti, nec respexerunt :/ terror undique, ait Dominus./ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃46 מדוע ראיתי המה חתים נסגים אחור וגבוריהם יכתו ומנוס נסו ולא הפנו מגור מסביב נאם יהוה (Ⅴ)

Let not the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.
- Que le plus léger ne trouve aucun salut dans la fuite, Que le plus vaillant n'échappe pas! Au septentrion, sur les rives de l'Euphrate, Ils chancellent, ils tombent. (Ⅱ) - Non fugiat velox,/ nec salvari se putet fortis :/ ad aquilonem juxta flumen Euphraten/ victi sunt, et ruerunt./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃46 אל ינוס הקל ואל ימלט הגבור צפונה על יד נהר פרת כשלו ונפלו (Ⅴ)

Who is this that cometh up as a flood, whose waters are moved as the rivers?
- Qui est celui qui s'avance comme le Nil, Et dont les eaux sont agitées comme les torrents? (Ⅱ) - Quis est iste, qui quasi flumen ascendit,/ et veluti fluviorum intumescunt gurgites ejus ?/ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃46 מי זה כיאר יעלה כנהרות יתגעשו מימיו (Ⅴ)

Egypt riseth up like a flood, and his waters are moved like the rivers; and he saith, I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.
- C'est l'Égypte. Elle s'avance comme le Nil, Et ses eaux sont agitées comme les torrents. Elle dit: Je monterai, je couvrirai la terre, Je détruirai les villes et leurs habitants. (Ⅱ) - Ægyptus fluminis instar ascendit,/ et velut flumina movebuntur fluctus ejus,/ et dicet : Ascendens operiam terram :/ perdam civitatem, et habitatores ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃46 מצרים כיאר יעלה וכנהרות יתגעשו מים ויאמר אעלה אכסה ארץ אבידה עיר וישבי בה (Ⅴ)

Come up, ye horses; and rage, ye chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.
- Montez, chevaux! précipitez-vous, chars! Qu'ils se montrent, les vaillants hommes, Ceux d'Éthiopie et de Puth qui portent le bouclier, Et ceux de Lud qui manient et tendent l'arc! (Ⅱ) - Ascendite equos,/ et exsultate in curribus,/ et procedant fortes,/ Æthiopia et Libyes tenentes scutum,/ et Lydii arripientes et jacientes sagittas./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃46 עלו הסוסים והתהללו הרכב ויצאו הגבורים כוש ופוט תפשי מגן ולודים תפשי דרכי קשת (Ⅴ)

For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
- Ce jour est au Seigneur, à l'Éternel des armées; C'est un jour de vengeance, où il se venge de ses ennemis. L'épée dévore, elle se rassasie, Elle s'enivre de leur sang. Car il y a des victimes du Seigneur, de l'Éternel des armées, Au pays du septentrion, sur les rives de l'Euphrate. (Ⅱ) - Dies autem ille Domini Dei exercituum dies ultionis,/ ut sumat vindictam de inimicis suis :/ devorabit gladius, et saturabitur,/ et inebriabitur sanguine eorum :/ victima enim Domini Dei exercituum/ in terra aquilonis juxta flumen Euphraten./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃46 והיום ההוא לאדני יהוה צבאות יום נקמה להנקם מצריו ואכלה חרב ושבעה ורותה מדמם כי זבח לאדני יהוה צבאות בארץ צפון אל נהר פרת (Ⅴ)

Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain shalt thou use many medicines; for thou shalt not be cured.
- Monte en Galaad, prends du baume, Vierge, fille de l'Égypte! En vain tu multiplies les remèdes, Il n'y a point de guérison pour toi. (Ⅱ) - Ascende in Galaad, et tolle resinam,/ virgo filia Ægypti :/ frustra multiplicas medicamina :/ sanitas non erit tibi./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃46 עלי גלעד וקחי צרי בתולת בת מצרים לשוא *הרביתי **הרבית רפאות תעלה אין לך (Ⅴ)

The nations have heard of thy shame, and thy cry hath filled the land: for the mighty man hath stumbled against the mighty, and they are fallen both together.
- Les nations apprennent ta honte, Et tes cris remplissent la terre, Car les guerriers chancellent l'un sur l'autre, Ils tombent tous ensemble. (Ⅱ) - Audierunt gentes ignominiam tuam,/ et ululatus tuus replevit terram :/ quia fortis impegit in fortem,/ et ambo pariter conciderunt.]\ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃46 שמעו גוים קלונך וצוחתך מלאה הארץ כי גבור בגבור כשלו יחדיו נפלו שניהם פ (Ⅴ)

The word that the LORD spake to Jeremiah the prophet, how Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon should come and smite the land of Egypt.
- La parole qui fut adressée par l'Éternel à Jérémie, le prophète, sur l'arrivée de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, qui voulait frapper le pays d'Égypte. (Ⅱ) - Verbum quod locutus est Dominus ad Jeremiam prophetam, super eo quod venturus esset Nabuchodonosor rex Babylonis, et percussurus terram Ægypti : (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃46 הדבר אשר דבר יהוה אל ירמיהו הנביא לבוא נבוכדראצר מלך בבל להכות את ארץ מצרים (Ⅴ)

Declare ye in Egypt, and publish in Migdol, and publish in Noph and in Tahpanhes: say ye, Stand fast, and prepare thee; for the sword shall devour round about thee.
- Annoncez-le en Égypte, Publiez-le à Migdol, Publiez-le à Noph et à Tachpanès! Dites: Lève-toi, prépare-toi, Car l'épée dévore autour de toi! (Ⅱ) - Annuntiate Ægypto, et auditum facite in Magdalo,/ et resonet in Memphis, et in Taphnis :/ dicite : Sta, et præpara te,/ quia devorabit gladius ea quæ per circuitum tuum sunt./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃46 הגידו במצרים והשמיעו במגדול והשמיעו בנף ובתחפנחס אמרו התיצב והכן לך כי אכלה חרב סביביך (Ⅴ)

Why are thy valiant men swept away? they stood not, because the LORD did drive them.
- Pourquoi tes vaillants hommes sont-ils emportés? Ils ne tiennent pas ferme, car l'Éternel les renverse. (Ⅱ) - Quare computruit fortis tuus ?/ non stetit, quoniam Dominus subvertit eum./ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃46 מדוע נסחף אביריך לא עמד כי יהוה הדפו (Ⅴ)

He made many to fall, yea, one fell upon another: and they said, Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our nativity, from the oppressing sword.
- Il en fait chanceler un grand nombre; Ils tombent l'un sur l'autre, et ils disent: Allons, retournons vers notre peuple, Dans notre pays natal, Loin du glaive destructeur! (Ⅱ) - Multiplicavit ruentes,/ ceciditque vir ad proximum suum, et dicent :/ Surge, et revertamur ad populum nostrum,/ et ad terram nativitatis nostræ,/ a facie gladii columbæ./ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃46 הרבה כושל גם נפל איש אל רעהו ויאמרו קומה ונשבה אל עמנו ואל ארץ מולדתנו מפני חרב היונה (Ⅴ)

They did cry there, Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he hath passed the time appointed.

As I live, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, Surely as Tabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.
- Je suis vivant! dit le roi, Dont l'Éternel des armées est le nom, Comme le Thabor parmi les montagnes, Comme le Carmel qui s'avance dans la mer, il viendra. (Ⅱ) - Vivo ego, inquit Rex (Dominus exercituum nomen ejus),/ quoniam sicut Thabor in montibus,/ et sicut Carmelus in mari, veniet./ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃46 חי אני נאם המלך יהוה צבאות שמו כי כתבור בהרים וככרמל בים יבוא (Ⅴ)

O thou daughter dwelling in Egypt, furnish thyself to go into captivity: for Noph shall be waste and desolate without an inhabitant.
- Fais ton bagage pour la captivité, Habitante, fille de L'Égypte! Car Noph deviendra un désert, Elle sera ravagée, elle n'aura plus d'habitants. (Ⅱ) - Vasa transmigrationis fac tibi,/ habitatrix filia Ægypti :/ quia Memphis in solitudinem erit,/ et deseretur, et inhabitabilis erit./ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃46 כלי גולה עשי לך יושבת בת מצרים כי נף לשמה תהיה ונצתה מאין יושב ס (Ⅴ)

Egypt is like a very fair heifer, but destruction cometh; it cometh out of the north.
- L'Égypte est une très belle génisse... Le destructeur vient du septentrion, il arrive... (Ⅱ) - Vitula elegans atque formosa Ægyptus,/ stimulator ab aquilone veniet ei./ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃46 עגלה יפה פיה מצרים קרץ מצפון בא בא (Ⅴ)

Also her hired men are in the midst of her like fatted bullocks; for they also are turned back, and are fled away together: they did not stand, because the day of their calamity was come upon them, and the time of their visitation.
- Ses mercenaires aussi sont au milieu d'elle comme des veaux engraissés. Et eux aussi, ils tournent le dos, ils fuient tous sans résister. Car le jour de leur malheur fond sur eux, Le temps de leur châtiment. (Ⅱ) - Mercenarii quoque ejus,/ qui versabantur in medio ejus quasi vituli saginati,/ versi sunt, et fugerunt simul,/ nec stare potuerunt :/ quia dies interfectionis eorum venit super eos,/ tempus visitationis eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃46 גם שכריה בקרבה כעגלי מרבק כי גם המה הפנו נסו יחדיו לא עמדו כי יום אידם בא עליהם עת פקדתם (Ⅴ)

The voice thereof shall go like a serpent; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood.
- Sa voix se fait entendre comme celle du serpent; Car ils s'avancent avec une armée, Ils marchent contre elle avec des haches, Pareils à des bûcherons. (Ⅱ) - Vox ejus quasi æris sonabit :/ quoniam cum exercitu properabunt,/ et cum securibus venient ei/ quasi cædentes ligna./ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃46 קולה כנחש ילך כי בחיל ילכו ובקרדמות באו לה כחטבי עצים (Ⅴ)

They shall cut down her forest, saith the LORD, though it cannot be searched; because they are more than the grasshoppers, and are innumerable.
- Ils abattent sa forêt, dit l'Éternel, Bien qu'elle soit impénétrable; Car ils sont plus nombreux que les sauterelles, On ne pourrait les compter. (Ⅱ) - Succiderunt saltum ejus, ait Dominus,/ qui supputari non potest :/ multiplicati sunt super locustas,/ et non est eis numerus./ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃46 כרתו יערה נאם יהוה כי לא יחקר כי רבו מארבה ואין להם מספר (Ⅴ)

The daughter of Egypt shall be confounded; she shall be delivered into the hand of the people of the north.
- La fille de l'Égypte est confuse, Elle est livrée entre les mains du peuple du septentrion. (Ⅱ) - Confusa est filia Ægypti,/ et tradita in manu populi aquilonis./ (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃46 הבישה בת מצרים נתנה ביד עם צפון (Ⅴ)

The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saith; Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him:
- L'Éternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël, dit: Voici, je vais châtier Amon de No, Pharaon, l'Égypte, ses dieux et ses rois, Pharaon et ceux qui se confient en lui. (Ⅱ) - Dixit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël :/ Ecce ego visitabo super tumultum Alexandriæ,/ et super Pharaonem, et super Ægyptum,/ et super deos ejus, et super reges ejus,/ et super Pharaonem, et super eos qui confidunt in eo :/ (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃46 אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל הנני פוקד אל אמון מנא ועל פרעה ועל מצרים ועל אלהיה ועל מלכיה ועל פרעה ועל הבטחים בו (Ⅴ)

And I will deliver them into the hand of those that seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterward it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith the LORD.
- Je les livrerai entre les mains de ceux qui en veulent à leur vie, Entre les mains de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, Et entre les mains de ses serviteurs; Et après cela, l'Égypte sera habitée comme aux jours d'autrefois, Dit l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - et dabo eos in manu quærentium animam eorum,/ et in manu Nabuchodonosor regis Babylonis,/ et in manu servorum ejus :/ et post hæc habitabitur sicut diebus pristinis, ait Dominus./ (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃46 ונתתים ביד מבקשי נפשם וביד נבוכדראצר מלך בבל וביד עבדיו ואחרי כן תשכן כימי קדם נאם יהוה ס (Ⅴ)

But fear not thou, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.
- Et toi, mon serviteur Jacob, ne crains pas; Ne t'effraie pas, Israël! Car je te délivrerai de la terre lointaine, Je délivrerai ta postérité du pays où elle est captive; Jacob reviendra, il jouira du repos et de la tranquillité, Et il n'y aura personne pour le troubler. (Ⅱ) - Et tu ne timeas, serve meus Jacob,/ et ne paveas, Israël :/ quia ecce ego salvum te faciam de longinquo,/ et semen tuum de terra captivitatis tuæ :/ et revertetur Jacob, et requiescet,/ et prosperabitur, et non erit qui exterreat eum./ (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃46 ואתה אל תירא עבדי יעקב ואל תחת ישראל כי הנני מושעך מרחוק ואת זרעך מארץ שבים ושב יעקוב ושקט ושאנן ואין מחריד ס (Ⅴ)

Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.
- Toi, mon serviteur Jacob, ne crains pas! dit l'Éternel; Car je suis avec toi. J'anéantirai toutes les nations parmi lesquelles je t'ai dispersé, Mais toi, je ne t'anéantirai pas; Je te châtierai avec équité, Je ne puis pas te laisser impuni. (Ⅱ) - Et tu noli timere, serve meus Jacob, ait Dominus,/ quia tecum ego sum :/ quia ego consumam cunctas gentes ad quas ejeci te, / te vero non consumam :/ sed castigabo te in judicio,/ nec quasi innocenti parcam tibi.] (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃46 אתה אל תירא עבדי יעקב נאם יהוה כי אתך אני כי אעשה כלה בכל הגוים אשר הדחתיך שמה ואתך לא אעשה כלה ויסרתיך למשפט ונקה לא אנקך ס (Ⅴ)
