And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.

The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
- Ce n'est point avec nos pères que l'Éternel a traité cette alliance; c'est avec nous, qui sommes ici aujourd'hui, tous vivants. (Ⅱ) - οὐχὶ τοι̃ς πατράσιν ὑμω̃ν διέθετο κύριος τὴν διαθήκην ταύτην ἀλλ' ἢ πρὸς ὑμα̃ς ὑμει̃ς ὡ̃δε πάντες ζω̃ντες σήμερον (Ⅲ) - Non cum patribus nostris iniit pactum, sed nobiscum qui in præsentiarum sumus, et vivimus. The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
- L'Éternel vous parla face à face sur la montagne, du milieu du feu. (Ⅱ) - πρόσωπον κατὰ πρόσωπον ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς ὑμα̃ς ἐν τω̨̃ ὄρει ἐκ μέσου του̃ πυρός (Ⅲ) - Facie ad faciem locutus est nobis in monte de medio ignis. (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃5 פנים בפנים דבר יהוה עמכם בהר מתוך האש (Ⅴ)

(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
- Je me tins alors entre l'Éternel et vous, pour vous annoncer la parole de l'Éternel; car vous aviez peur du feu, et vous ne montâtes point sur la montagne. Il dit: (Ⅱ) - κἀγὼ εἱστήκειν ἀνὰ μέσον κυρίου καὶ ὑμω̃ν ἐν τω̨̃ καιρω̨̃ ἐκείνω̨ ἀναγγει̃λαι ὑμι̃ν τὰ ῥήματα κυρίου ὅτι ἐφοβήθητε ἀπὸ προσώπου του̃ πυρὸς καὶ οὐκ ἀνέβητε εἰς τὸ ὄρος λέγων (Ⅲ) - Ego sequester et medius fui inter Dominum et vos in tempore illo, ut annuntiarem vobis verba ejus : timuistis enim ignem, et non ascendistis in montem. Et ait : (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃5 אנכי עמד בין יהוה וביניכם בעת ההוא להגיד לכם את דבר יהוה כי יראתם מפני האש ולא עליתם בהר לאמר ס (Ⅴ)

I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
- Je suis l'Éternel, ton Dieu, qui t'ai fait sortir du pays d'Égypte, de la maison de servitude. Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
- Tu ne te feras point d'image taillée, de représentation quelconque des choses qui sont en haut dans les cieux, qui sont en bas sur la terre, et qui sont dans les eaux plus bas que la terre. (Ⅱ) - οὐ ποιήσεις σεαυτω̨̃ εἴδωλον οὐδὲ παντὸς ὁμοίωμα ὅσα ἐν τω̨̃ οὐρανω̨̃ ἄνω καὶ ὅσα ἐν τη̨̃ γη̨̃ κάτω καὶ ὅσα ἐν τοι̃ς ὕδασιν ὑποκάτω τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Non facies tibi sculptile, nec similitudinem omnium, quæ in cælo sunt desuper, et quæ in terra deorsum, et quæ versantur in aquis sub terra. Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
- Tu ne te prosterneras point devant elles, et tu ne les serviras point; car moi, l'Éternel, ton Dieu, je suis un Dieu jaloux, qui punis l'iniquité des pères sur les enfants jusqu'à la troisième et à la quatrième génération de ceux qui me haïssent, (Ⅱ) - οὐ προσκυνήσεις αὐτοι̃ς οὐδὲ μὴ λατρεύση̨ς αὐτοι̃ς ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι κύριος ὁ θεός σου θεὸς ζηλωτὴς ἀποδιδοὺς ἁμαρτίας πατέρων ἐπὶ τέκνα ἐπὶ τρίτην καὶ τετάρτην γενεὰν τοι̃ς μισου̃σίν με (Ⅲ) - Non adorabis ea, et non coles. And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
- et qui fais miséricorde jusqu'en mille générations à ceux qui m'aiment et qui gardent mes commandements. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
- Tu ne prendras point le nom de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, en vain; car l'Éternel ne laissera point impuni celui qui prendra son nom en vain. (Ⅱ) - οὐ λήμψη̨ τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου του̃ θεου̃ σου ἐπὶ ματαίω̨ οὐ γὰρ μὴ καθαρίση̨ κύριος τὸν λαμβάνοντα τὸ ὄνομα αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ ματαίω̨ (Ⅲ) - Non usurpabis nomen Domini Dei tui frustra : quia non erit impunitus qui super re vana nomen ejus assumpserit. Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.

Six days thou shalt labor, and do all thy work:

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
- Mais le septième jour est le jour du repos de l'Éternel, ton Dieu: tu ne feras aucun ouvrage, ni toi, ni ton fils, ni ta fille, ni ton serviteur, ni ta servante, ni ton boeuf, ni ton âne, ni aucune de tes bêtes, ni l'étranger qui est dans tes portes, afin que ton serviteur et ta servante se reposent comme toi. And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
- Tu te souviendras que tu as été esclave au pays d'Égypte, et que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, t'en a fait sortir à main forte et à bras étendu: c'est pourquoi l'Éternel, ton Dieu, t'a ordonné d'observer le jour du repos. Honor thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
- Honore ton père et ta mère, comme l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te l'a ordonné, afin que tes jours se prolongent et que tu sois heureux dans le pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne. (Ⅱ) - τίμα τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ τὴν μητέρα σου ὃν τρόπον ἐνετείλατό σοι κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἵνα εὐ̃ σοι γένηται καὶ ἵνα μακροχρόνιος γένη̨ ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς ἡ̃ς κύριος ὁ θεός σου δίδωσίν σοι (Ⅲ) - Honora patrem tuum et matrem, sicut præcepit tibi Dominus Deus tuus, ut longo vivas tempore, et bene sit tibi in terra, quam Dominus Deus tuus daturus est tibi. Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbor.

Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbor's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbor's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbor's.
- Tu ne convoiteras point la femme de ton prochain; tu ne désireras point la maison de ton prochain, ni son champ, ni son serviteur, ni sa servante, ni son boeuf, ni son âne, ni aucune chose qui appartienne à ton prochain. (Ⅱ) - οὐκ ἐπιθυμήσεις τὴν γυναι̃κα του̃ πλησίον σου οὐκ ἐπιθυμήσεις τὴν οἰκίαν του̃ πλησίον σου οὔτε τὸν ἀγρὸν αὐτου̃ οὔτε τὸν παι̃δα αὐτου̃ οὔτε τὴν παιδίσκην αὐτου̃ οὔτε του̃ βοὸς αὐτου̃ οὔτε του̃ ὑποζυγίου αὐτου̃ οὔτε παντὸς κτήνους αὐτου̃ οὔτε ὅσα τω̨̃ πλησίον σού ἐστιν (Ⅲ) - Non concupisces uxorem proximi tui : non domum, non agrum, non servum, non ancillam, non bovem, non asinum, et universa quæ illius sunt. (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃5 ולא תחמד אשת רעך סולא תתאוה בית רעך שדהו ועבדו ואמתו שורו וחמרו וכל אשר לרעך ס (Ⅴ)

These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.
- Telles sont les paroles que prononça l'Éternel à haute voix sur la montagne, du milieu du feu, des nuées et de l'obscurité, et qu'il adressa à toute votre assemblée, sans rien ajouter. Il les écrivit sur deux tables de pierre, qu'il me donna. (Ⅱ) - τὰ ῥήματα ταυ̃τα ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς πα̃σαν συναγωγὴν ὑμω̃ν ἐν τω̨̃ ὄρει ἐκ μέσου του̃ πυρός σκότος γνόφος θύελλα φωνὴ μεγάλη καὶ οὐ προσέθηκεν καὶ ἔγραψεν αὐτὰ ἐπὶ δύο πλάκας λιθίνας καὶ ἔδωκέν μοι (Ⅲ) - Hæc verba locutus est Dominus ad omnem multitudinem vestram in monte de medio ignis et nubis, et caliginis, voce magna, nihil addens amplius : et scripsit ea in duabus tabulis lapideis, quas tradidit mihi.\ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃5 את הדברים האלה דבר יהוה אל כל קהלכם בהר מתוך האש הענן והערפל קול גדול ולא יסף ויכתבם על שני לחת אבנים ויתנם אלי (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
- Lorsque vous eûtes entendu la voix du milieu des ténèbres, et tandis que la montagne était tout en feu, vos chefs de tribus et vos anciens s'approchèrent tous de moi, (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἠκούσατε τὴν φωνὴν ἐκ μέσου του̃ πυρὸς καὶ τὸ ὄρος ἐκαίετο πυρί καὶ προσήλθετε πρός με πάντες οἱ ἡγούμενοι τω̃ν φυλω̃ν ὑμω̃ν καὶ ἡ γερουσία ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Vos autem postquam audistis vocem de medio tenebrarum, et montem ardere vidistis, accessistis ad me omnes principes tribuum et majores natu, atque dixistis : (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃5 ויהי כשמעכם את הקול מתוך החשך וההר בער באש ותקרבון אלי כל ראשי שבטיכם וזקניכם (Ⅴ)

And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath showed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.
- et vous dîtes: Voici, l'Éternel, notre Dieu, nous a montré sa gloire et sa grandeur, et nous avons entendu sa voix du milieu du feu; aujourd'hui, nous avons vu que Dieu a parlé à des hommes, et qu'ils sont demeurés vivants. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐλέγετε ἰδοὺ ἔδειξεν ἡμι̃ν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμω̃ν τὴν δόξαν αὐτου̃ καὶ τὴν φωνὴν αὐτου̃ ἠκούσαμεν ἐκ μέσου του̃ πυρός ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ταύτη̨ εἴδομεν ὅτι λαλήσει ὁ θεὸς πρὸς ἄνθρωπον καὶ ζήσεται (Ⅲ) - Ecce ostendit nobis Dominus Deus noster majestatem et magnitudinem suam : vocem ejus audivimus de medio ignis, et probavimus hodie, quod loquente Deo cum homine, vixerit homo. (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃5 ותאמרו הן הראנו יהוה אלהינו את כבדו ואת גדלו ואת קלו שמענו מתוך האש היום הזה ראינו כי ידבר אלהים את האדם וחי (Ⅴ)

Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.
- Et maintenant pourquoi mourrions-nous? car ce grand feu nous dévorera; si nous continuons à entendre la voix de l'Éternel, notre Dieu, nous mourrons. (Ⅱ) - καὶ νυ̃ν μὴ ἀποθάνωμεν ὅτι ἐξαναλώσει ἡμα̃ς τὸ πυ̃ρ τὸ μέγα του̃το ἐὰν προσθώμεθα ἡμει̃ς ἀκου̃σαι τὴν φωνὴν κυρίου του̃ θεου̃ ἡμω̃ν ἔτι καὶ ἀποθανούμεθα (Ⅲ) - Cur ergo moriemur, et devorabit nos ignis hic maximus ? si enim audierimus ultra vocem Domini Dei nostri, moriemur. (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃5 ועתה למה נמות כי תאכלנו האש הגדלה הזאת אם יספים אנחנו לשמע את קול יהוה אלהינו עוד ומתנו (Ⅴ)

For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?
- Quel est l'homme, en effet, qui ait jamais entendu, comme nous, la voix du Dieu vivant parlant du milieu du feu, et qui soit demeuré vivant? (Ⅱ) - τίς γὰρ σάρξ ἥτις ἤκουσεν φωνὴν θεου̃ ζω̃ντος λαλου̃ντος ἐκ μέσου του̃ πυρὸς ὡς ἡμει̃ς καὶ ζήσεται (Ⅲ) - Quid est omnis caro, ut audiat vocem Dei viventis, qui de medio ignis loquitur sicut nos audivimus, et possit vivere ? (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃5 כי מי כל בשר אשר שמע קול אלהים חיים מדבר מתוך האש כמנו ויחי (Ⅴ)

Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.
- Approche, toi, et écoute tout ce que dira l'Éternel, notre Dieu; tu nous rapporteras toi-même tout ce que te dira l'Éternel, notre Dieu; nous l'écouterons, et nous le ferons. (Ⅱ) - πρόσελθε σὺ καὶ ἄκουσον ὅσα ἐὰν εἴπη̨ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμω̃ν καὶ σὺ λαλήσεις πρὸς ἡμα̃ς πάντα ὅσα ἂν λαλήση̨ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμω̃ν πρὸς σέ καὶ ἀκουσόμεθα καὶ ποιήσομεν (Ⅲ) - Tu magis accede : et audi cuncta quæ dixerit Dominus Deus noster tibi : loquerisque ad nos, et nos audientes faciemus ea.\ (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃5 קרב אתה ושמע את כל אשר יאמר יהוה אלהינו ואת תדבר אלינו את כל אשר ידבר יהוה אלהינו אליך ושמענו ועשינו (Ⅴ)

And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.
- L'Éternel entendit les paroles que vous m'adressâtes. Et l'Éternel me dit: J'ai entendu les paroles que ce peuple t'a adressées: tout ce qu'ils ont dit est bien. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἤκουσεν κύριος τὴν φωνὴν τω̃ν λόγων ὑμω̃ν λαλούντων πρός με καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρός με ἤκουσα τὴν φωνὴν τω̃ν λόγων του̃ λαου̃ τούτου ὅσα ἐλάλησαν πρὸς σέ ὀρθω̃ς πάντα ὅσα ἐλάλησαν (Ⅲ) - Quod cum audisset Dominus, ait ad me : Audivi vocem verborum populi hujus quæ locuti sunt tibi : bene omnia sunt locuti. (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃5 וישמע יהוה את קול דבריכם בדברכם אלי ויאמר יהוה אלי שמעתי את קול דברי העם הזה אשר דברו אליך היטיבו כל אשר דברו (Ⅴ)

O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
- Oh! s'ils avaient toujours ce même coeur pour me craindre et pour observer tous mes commandements, afin qu'ils fussent heureux à jamais, eux et leurs enfants! (Ⅱ) - τίς δώσει οὕτως εἰ̃ναι τὴν καρδίαν αὐτω̃ν ἐν αὐτοι̃ς ὥστε φοβει̃σθαί με καὶ φυλάσσεσθαι τὰς ἐντολάς μου πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας ἵνα εὐ̃ ἠ̨̃ αὐτοι̃ς καὶ τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς αὐτω̃ν δι' αἰω̃νος (Ⅲ) - Quis det talem eos habere mentem, ut timeant me, et custodiant universa mandata mea in omni tempore, ut bene sit eis et filiis eorum in sempiternum ? (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃5 מי יתן והיה לבבם זה להם ליראה אתי ולשמר את כל מצותי כל הימים למען ייטב להם ולבניהם לעלם (Ⅴ)

Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.
- Va, dis-leur: Retournez dans vos tentes. (Ⅱ) - βάδισον εἰπὸν αὐτοι̃ς ἀποστράφητε ὑμει̃ς εἰς τοὺς οἴκους ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Vade et dic eis : Revertimini in tentoria vestra. (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃5 לך אמר להם שובו לכם לאהליכם (Ⅴ)

But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.
- Mais toi, reste ici avec moi, et je te dirai tous les commandements, les lois et les ordonnances, que tu leur enseigneras, afin qu'ils les mettent en pratique dans le pays dont je leur donne la possession. (Ⅱ) - σὺ δὲ αὐτου̃ στη̃θι μετ' ἐμου̃ καὶ λαλήσω πρὸς σὲ τὰς ἐντολὰς καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα καὶ τὰ κρίματα ὅσα διδάξεις αὐτούς καὶ ποιείτωσαν ἐν τη̨̃ γη̨̃ ἣν ἐγὼ δίδωμι αὐτοι̃ς ἐν κλήρω̨ (Ⅲ) - Tu vero hic sta mecum, et loquar tibi omnia mandata mea, et cæremonias atque judicia : quæ docebis eos, ut faciant ea in terra, quam dabo illis in possessionem. (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃5 ואתה פה עמד עמדי ואדברה אליך את כל המצוה והחקים והמשפטים אשר תלמדם ועשו בארץ אשר אנכי נתן להם לרשתה (Ⅴ)

Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
- Vous ferez avec soin ce que l'Éternel, votre Dieu, vous a ordonné; vous ne vous en détournerez ni à droite, ni à gauche. (Ⅱ) - καὶ φυλάξεσθε ποιει̃ν ὃν τρόπον ἐνετείλατό σοι κύριος ὁ θεός σου οὐκ ἐκκλινει̃τε εἰς δεξιὰ οὐδὲ εἰς ἀριστερὰ (Ⅲ) - Custodite igitur et facite quæ præcepit Dominus Deus vobis : non declinabitis neque ad dexteram, neque ad sinistram : (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃5 ושמרתם לעשות כאשר צוה יהוה אלהיכם אתכם לא תסרו ימין ושמאל (Ⅴ)

Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.
- Vous suivrez entièrement la voie que l'Éternel, votre Dieu, vous a prescrite, afin que vous viviez et que vous soyez heureux, afin que vous prolongiez vos jours dans le pays dont vous aurez la possession. (Ⅱ) - κατὰ πα̃σαν τὴν ὁδόν ἣν ἐνετείλατό σοι κύριος ὁ θεός σου πορεύεσθαι ἐν αὐτη̨̃ ὅπως καταπαύση̨ σε καὶ εὐ̃ σοι ἠ̨̃ καὶ μακροημερεύσητε ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς ἡ̃ς κληρονομήσετε (Ⅲ) - sed per viam, quam præcepit Dominus Deus vester, ambulabitis, ut vivatis, et bene sit vobis, et protelentur dies in terra possessionis vestræ. (Ⅳ) - 33 ׃5 בכל הדרך אשר צוה יהוה אלהיכם אתכם תלכו למען תחיון וטוב לכם והארכתם ימים בארץ אשר תירשון (Ⅴ)
