Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,
- Oh! si tu déchirais les cieux, et si tu descendais, Les montagnes s'ébranleraient devant toi, (Ⅱ) - ὡς κηρὸς ἀπὸ πυρὸς τήκεται καὶ κατακαύσει πυ̃ρ τοὺς ὑπεναντίους καὶ φανερὸν ἔσται τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου ἐν τοι̃ς ὑπεναντίοις ἀπὸ προσώπου σου ἔθνη ταραχθήσονται (Ⅲ) - Utinam dirumperes cælos, et descenderes ;/ a facie tua montes defluerent ;/ (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃64 כקדח אש המסים מים תבעה אש להודיע שמך לצריך מפניך גוים ירגזו (Ⅴ)

As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!
- Comme s'allume un feu de bois sec, Comme s'évapore l'eau qui bouillonne; Tes ennemis connaîtraient ton nom, Et les nations trembleraient devant toi. (Ⅱ) - ὅταν ποιη̨̃ς τὰ ἔνδοξα τρόμος λήμψεται ἀπὸ σου̃ ὄρη (Ⅲ) - sicut exustio ignis tabescerent,/ aquæ arderent igni :/ ut notum fieret nomen tuum inimicis tuis ;/ a facie tua gentes turbarentur./ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃64 בעשותך נוראות לא נקוה ירדת מפניך הרים נזלו (Ⅴ)

When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.
- Lorsque tu fis des prodiges que nous n'attendions pas, Tu descendis, et les montagnes s'ébranlèrent devant toi. (Ⅱ) - ἀπὸ του̃ αἰω̃νος οὐκ ἠκούσαμεν οὐδὲ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ ἡμω̃ν εἰ̃δον θεὸν πλὴν σου̃ καὶ τὰ ἔργα σου ἃ ποιήσεις τοι̃ς ὑπομένουσιν ἔλεον (Ⅲ) - Cum feceris mirabilia, non sustinebimus ;/ descendisti, et a facie tua montes defluxerunt./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃64 ומעולם לא שמעו לא האזינו עין לא ראתה אלהים זולתך יעשה למחכה לו (Ⅴ)

For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
- Jamais on n'a appris ni entendu dire, Et jamais l'oeil n'a vu qu'un autre dieu que toi Fît de telles choses pour ceux qui se confient en lui. (Ⅱ) - συναντήσεται γὰρ τοι̃ς ποιου̃σιν τὸ δίκαιον καὶ τω̃ν ὁδω̃ν σου μνησθήσονται ἰδοὺ σὺ ὠργίσθης καὶ ἡμει̃ς ἡμάρτομεν διὰ του̃το ἐπλανήθημεν (Ⅲ) - A sæculo non audierunt, neque auribus perceperunt ;/ oculus non vidit, Deus, absque te,/ quæ præparasti exspectantibus te./ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃64 פגעת את שש ועשה צדק בדרכיך יזכרוך הן אתה קצפת ונחטא בהם עולם ונושע (Ⅴ)

Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.
- Tu vas au-devant de celui qui pratique avec joie la justice, De ceux qui marchent dans tes voies et se souviennent de toi. Mais tu as été irrité, parce que nous avons péché; Et nous en souffrons longtemps jusqu'à ce que nous soyons sauvés. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγενήθημεν ὡς ἀκάθαρτοι πάντες ἡμει̃ς ὡς ῥάκος ἀποκαθημένης πα̃σα ἡ δικαιοσύνη ἡμω̃ν καὶ ἐξερρύημεν ὡς φύλλα διὰ τὰς ἀνομίας ἡμω̃ν οὕτως ἄνεμος οἴσει ἡμα̃ς (Ⅲ) - Occurristi lætanti, et facienti justitiam ;/ in viis tuis recordabuntur tui./ Ecce tu iratus es, et peccavimus ;/ in ipsis fuimus semper, et salvabimur./ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃64 ונהי כטמא כלנו וכבגד עדים כל צדקתינו ונבל כעלה כלנו ועוננו כרוח ישאנו (Ⅴ)

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
- Nous sommes tous comme des impurs, Et toute notre justice est comme un vêtement souillé; Nous sommes tous flétris comme une feuille, Et nos crimes nous emportent comme le vent. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ὁ ἐπικαλούμενος τὸ ὄνομά σου καὶ ὁ μνησθεὶς ἀντιλαβέσθαι σου ὅτι ἀπέστρεψας τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἀφ' ἡμω̃ν καὶ παρέδωκας ἡμα̃ς διὰ τὰς ἁμαρτίας ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Et facti sumus ut immundus omnes nos,/ et quasi pannus menstruatæ universæ justitiæ nostræ ;/ et cecidimus quasi folium universi,/ et iniquitates nostræ quasi ventus abstulerunt nos./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃64 ואין קורא בשמך מתעורר להחזיק בך כי הסתרת פניך ממנו ותמוגנו ביד עוננו (Ⅴ)

And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.
- Il n'y a personne qui invoque ton nom, Qui se réveille pour s'attacher à toi: Aussi nous as-tu caché ta face, Et nous laisses-tu périr par l'effet de nos crimes. (Ⅱ) - καὶ νυ̃ν κύριε πατὴρ ἡμω̃ν σύ ἡμει̃ς δὲ πηλὸς ἔργον τω̃ν χειρω̃ν σου πάντες (Ⅲ) - Non est qui invocet nomen tuum ;/ qui consurgat, et teneat te./ Abscondisti faciem tuam a nobis,/ et allisisti nos in manu iniquitatis nostræ./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃64 ועתה יהוה אבינו אתה אנחנו החמר ואתה יצרנו ומעשה ידך כלנו (Ⅴ)

But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
- Cependant, ô Éternel, tu es notre père; Nous sommes l'argile, et c'est toi qui nous as formés, Nous sommes tous l'ouvrage de tes mains. (Ⅱ) - μὴ ὀργίζου ἡμι̃ν σφόδρα καὶ μὴ ἐν καιρω̨̃ μνησθη̨̃ς ἁμαρτιω̃ν ἡμω̃ν καὶ νυ̃ν ἐπίβλεψον ὅτι λαός σου πάντες ἡμει̃ς (Ⅲ) - Et nunc, Domine, pater noster es tu,/ nos vero lutum ;/ et fictor noster tu,/ et opera manuum tuarum omnes nos./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃64 אל תקצף יהוה עד מאד ואל לעד תזכר עון הן הבט נא עמך כלנו (Ⅴ)

Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.
- Ne t'irrite pas à l'extrême, ô Éternel, Et ne te souviens pas à toujours du crime; Regarde donc, nous sommes tous ton peuple. (Ⅱ) - πόλις του̃ ἁγίου σου ἐγενήθη ἔρημος Σιων ὡς ἔρημος ἐγενήθη Ιερουσαλημ εἰς κατάραν (Ⅲ) - Ne irascaris, Domine, satis,/ et ne ultra memineris iniquitatis nostræ ;/ ecce, respice, populus tuus omnes nos./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃64 ערי קדשך היו מדבר ציון מדבר היתה ירושלם שממה (Ⅴ)

Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
- Tes villes saintes sont un désert; Sion est un désert, Jérusalem une solitude. (Ⅱ) - ὁ οἰ̃κος τὸ ἅγιον ἡμω̃ν καὶ ἡ δόξα ἣν ηὐλόγησαν οἱ πατέρες ἡμω̃ν ἐγενήθη πυρίκαυστος καὶ πάντα τὰ ἔνδοξα συνέπεσεν (Ⅲ) - Civitas Sancti tui facta est deserta,/ Sion deserta facta est,/ Jerusalem desolata est./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃64 בית קדשנו ותפארתנו אשר הללוך אבתינו היה לשרפת אש וכל מחמדינו היה לחרבה (Ⅴ)

Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.
- Notre maison sainte et glorieuse, Où nos pères célébraient tes louanges, Est devenue la proie des flammes; Tout ce que nous avions de précieux a été dévasté. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπὶ πα̃σι τούτοις ἀνέσχου κύριε καὶ ἐσιώπησας καὶ ἐταπείνωσας ἡμα̃ς σφόδρα (Ⅲ) - Domus sanctificationis nostræ et gloriæ nostræ,/ ubi laudaverunt te patres nostri,/ facta est in exustionem ignis,/ et omnia desiderabilia nostra versa sunt in ruinas./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃64 העל אלה תתאפק יהוה תחשה ותעננו עד מאד ס (Ⅴ)

Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O LORD? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?
- Après cela, ô Éternel, te contiendras-tu? Est-ce que tu te tairas, et nous affligeras à l'excès? (Ⅱ) - Numquid super his continebis te, Domine ;/ tacebis, et affliges nos vehementer ?] (Ⅳ)
