She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.

She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.

Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.

O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.

They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.

Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
- La crainte de l'Éternel, c'est la haine du mal; L'arrogance et l'orgueil, la voie du mal, Et la bouche perverse, voilà ce que je hais. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
- Je marche dans le chemin de la justice, Au milieu des sentiers de la droiture, (Ⅱ) - ἐν ὁδοι̃ς δικαιοσύνης περιπατω̃ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τρίβων δικαιώματος ἀναστρέφομαι (Ⅲ) - In viis justitiæ ambulo,/ in medio semitarum judicii :/ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃8 בארח צדקה אהלך[U] בתוך נתיבות משפט (Ⅴ)

That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
- Je fus enfantée quand il n'y avait point d'abîmes, Point de sources chargées d'eaux; (Ⅱ) - πρὸ του̃ τὴν γη̃ν ποιη̃σαι καὶ πρὸ του̃ τὰς ἀβύσσους ποιη̃σαι πρὸ του̃ προελθει̃ν τὰς πηγὰς τω̃ν ὑδάτων (Ⅲ) - Nondum erant abyssi, et ego jam concepta eram :/ necdum fontes aquarum eruperant,/ (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃8 באין תהמות חוללתי באין מעינות נכבדי מים (Ⅴ)

Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
- Avant que les montagnes soient affermies, Avant que les collines existent, je fus enfantée; (Ⅱ) - πρὸ του̃ ὄρη ἑδρασθη̃ναι πρὸ δὲ πάντων βουνω̃ν γεννα̨̃ με (Ⅲ) - necdum montes gravi mole constiterant :/ ante colles ego parturiebar./ (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃8 בטרם הרים הטבעו לפני גבעות חוללתי (Ⅴ)

While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
- Il n'avait encore fait ni la terre, ni les campagnes, Ni le premier atome de la poussière du monde. (Ⅱ) - κύριος ἐποίησεν χώρας καὶ ἀοικήτους καὶ ἄκρα οἰκούμενα τη̃ς ὑπ' οὐρανόν (Ⅲ) - Adhuc terram non fecerat, et flumina,/ et cardines orbis terræ./ (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃8 עד לא עשה ארץ וחוצות וראש עפרות[V] תבל (Ⅴ)

When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
- Lorsqu'il disposa les cieux, j'étais là; Lorsqu'il traça un cercle à la surface de l'abîme, (Ⅱ) - ἡνίκα ἡτοίμαζεν τὸν οὐρανόν συμπαρήμην αὐτω̨̃ καὶ ὅτε ἀφώριζεν τὸν ἑαυτου̃ θρόνον ἐπ' ἀνέμων (Ⅲ) - Quando præparabat cælos, aderam ;/ quando certa lege et gyro vallabat abyssos ;/ (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃8 בהכינו שמים שם אני בחוקו חוג על פני תהום (Ⅴ)

When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
- Lorsqu'il fixa les nuages en haut, Et que les sources de l'abîme jaillirent avec force, (Ⅱ) - ἡνίκα ἰσχυρὰ ἐποίει τὰ ἄνω νέφη καὶ ὡς ἀσφαλει̃ς ἐτίθει πηγὰς τη̃ς ὑπ' οὐρανὸν (Ⅲ) - quando æthera firmabat sursum,/ et librabat fontes aquarum ;/ (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃8 באמצו שחקים ממעל בעזוז עינות תהום[U] (Ⅴ)

When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
- Lorsqu'il donna une limite à la mer, Pour que les eaux n'en franchissent pas les bords, Lorsqu'il posa les fondements de la terre, (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἰσχυρὰ ἐποίει τὰ θεμέλια τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ) - quando circumdabat mari terminum suum,/ et legem ponebat aquis, ne transirent fines suos ;/ quando appendebat fundamenta terræ :/ (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃8 בשומו לים חקו ומים לא יעברו פיו בחוקו מוסדי ארץ (Ⅴ)

Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
- J'étais à l'oeuvre auprès de lui, Et je faisais tous les jours ses délices, Jouant sans cesse en sa présence, (Ⅱ) - ἤμην παρ' αὐτω̨̃ ἁρμόζουσα ἐγὼ ἤμην ἡ̨̃ προσέχαιρεν καθ' ἡμέραν δὲ εὐφραινόμην ἐν προσώπω̨ αὐτου̃ ἐν παντὶ καιρω̨̃ (Ⅲ) - cum eo eram, cuncta componens./ Et delectabar per singulos dies,/ ludens coram eo omni tempore,/ (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃8 ואהיה אצלו אמון ואהיה שעשעים יום יום משחקת לפניו בכל עת (Ⅴ)

Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.
- Jouant sur le globe de sa terre, Et trouvant mon bonheur parmi les fils de l'homme. (Ⅱ) - ὅτε εὐφραίνετο τὴν οἰκουμένην συντελέσας καὶ ἐνευφραίνετο ἐν υἱοι̃ς ἀνθρώπων (Ⅲ) - ludens in orbe terrarum ;/ et deliciæ meæ esse cum filiis hominum./ (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃8 משחקת בתבל ארצו ושעשעי את בני אדם פ (Ⅴ)

Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.
- Et maintenant, mes fils, écoutez-moi, Et heureux ceux qui observent mes voies! (Ⅱ) - νυ̃ν οὐ̃ν υἱέ ἄκουέ μου (Ⅲ) - Nunc ergo, filii, audite me :/ beati qui custodiunt vias meas./ (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃8 ועתה בנים שמעו לי ואשרי דרכי ישמרו (Ⅴ)

Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
- Heureux l'homme qui m'écoute, Qui veille chaque jour à mes portes, Et qui en garde les poteaux! (Ⅱ) - μακάριος ἀνήρ ὃς εἰσακούσεταί μου καὶ ἄνθρωπος ὃς τὰς ἐμὰς ὁδοὺς φυλάξει ἀγρυπνω̃ν ἐπ' ἐμαι̃ς θύραις καθ' ἡμέραν τηρω̃ν σταθμοὺς ἐμω̃ν εἰσόδων (Ⅲ) - Beatus homo qui audit me,/ et qui vigilat ad fores meas quotidie,/ et observat ad postes ostii mei./ (Ⅳ) - 34 ׃8 אשרי אדם שמע לי לשקד על דלתתי יום יום לשמר מזוזת פתחי (Ⅴ)

For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
- Car celui qui me trouve a trouvé la vie, Et il obtient la faveur de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - αἱ γὰρ ἔξοδοί μου ἔξοδοι ζωη̃ς καὶ ἑτοιμάζεται θέλησις παρὰ κυρίου (Ⅲ) - Qui me invenerit, inveniet vitam,/ et hauriet salutem a Domino./ (Ⅳ) - 35 ׃8 כי מצאי *מצאי **מצא[y] חיים ויפק רצון מיהוה (Ⅴ)

But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
