The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;

- Abraham genuit Isaac. Isaac autem genuit Jacob. Jacob autem genuit Judam, et fratres ejus. (Ⅳ)

And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
- Juda engendra de Thamar Pharès et Zara; Pharès engendra Esrom; Esrom engendra Aram; (Ⅱ)
- Ἰούδας δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Φαρὲς καὶ τὸν Ζάρα ἐκ τῆς Θαμάρ, Φαρὲς δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἑσρώμ, Ἑσρὼμ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἀράμ, (Ⅲ)

And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
- Aram engendra Aminadab; Aminadab engendra Naasson; Naasson engendra Salmon; (Ⅱ)
- Ἀρὰμ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἀμιναδάβ, Ἀμιναδὰβ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ναασσών, Ναασσὼν δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαλμών, (Ⅲ)
- Aram autem genuit Aminadab. Aminadab autem genuit Naasson. Naasson autem genuit Salmon. (Ⅳ)

And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
- Salmon engendra Boaz de Rahab; Boaz engendra Obed de Ruth; (Ⅱ)
- Σαλμὼν δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν ⸂Βόες ἐκ τῆς Ῥαχάβ, Βόες⸃ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν ⸂Ἰωβὴδ ἐκ τῆς Ῥούθ, Ἰωβὴδ⸃ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰεσσαί, (Ⅲ)
- Salmon autem genuit Booz de Rahab. Booz autem genuit Obed ex Ruth. Obed autem genuit Jesse. Jesse autem genuit David regem. (Ⅳ)

And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
- Obed engendra Isaï; Isaï engendra David. Le roi David engendra Salomon de la femme d'Urie; (Ⅱ)
- Ἰεσσαὶ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Δαυὶδ τὸν βασιλέα. Δαυὶδ ⸀δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σολομῶνα ἐκ τῆς τοῦ Οὐρίου, (Ⅲ)
- David autem rex genuit Salomonem ex ea quæ fuit Uriæ. (Ⅳ)

And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
- Salomon engendra Roboam; Roboam engendra Abia; Abia engendra Asa; (Ⅱ)
- Σολομὼν δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ῥοβοάμ, Ῥοβοὰμ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἀβιά, Ἀβιὰ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν ⸂Ἀσάφ, (Ⅲ)
- Salomon autem genuit Roboam. Roboam autem genuit Abiam. Abias autem genuit Asa. (Ⅳ)

And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
- Asa engendra Josaphat; Josaphat engendra Joram; Joram engendra Ozias; (Ⅱ)
- Ἀσὰφ⸃ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰωσαφάτ, Ἰωσαφὰτ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰωράμ, Ἰωρὰμ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ὀζίαν, (Ⅲ)
- Asa autem genuit Josophat. Josophat autem genuit Joram. Joram autem genuit Oziam. (Ⅳ)

And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
- Ozias engendra Joatham; Joatham engendra Achaz; Achaz engendra Ézéchias; (Ⅱ)
- Ὀζίας δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰωαθάμ, Ἰωαθὰμ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἀχάζ, Ἀχὰζ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἑζεκίαν, (Ⅲ)
- Ozias autem genuit Joatham. Joatham autem genuit Achaz. Achaz autem genuit Ezechiam. (Ⅳ)
1. 10  
And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;
- Ézéchias engendra Manassé; Manassé engendra Amon; Amon engendra Josias; (Ⅱ)
- Ἑζεκίας δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Μανασσῆ, Μανασσῆς δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν ⸂Ἀμώς, Ἀμὼς⸃ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰωσίαν, (Ⅲ)
- Ezechias autem genuit Manassen. Manasses autem genuit Amon. Amon autem genuit Josiam. (Ⅳ)
1. 11  
And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
- Josias engendra Jéchonias et ses frères, au temps de la déportation à Babylone. (Ⅱ)
- Ἰωσίας δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰεχονίαν καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς μετοικεσίας Βαβυλῶνος. (Ⅲ)
- Josias autem genuit Jechoniam, et fratres ejus in transmigratione Babylonis. (Ⅳ)

And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
- Après la déportation à Babylone, Jéchonias engendra Salathiel; Salathiel engendra Zorobabel; (Ⅱ)
- Μετὰ δὲ τὴν μετοικεσίαν Βαβυλῶνος Ἰεχονίας ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαλαθιήλ, Σαλαθιὴλ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ζοροβαβέλ, (Ⅲ)
- Et post transmigrationem Babylonis : Jechonias genuit Salathiel. Salathiel autem genuit Zorobabel. (Ⅳ)

And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
- Zorobabel engendra Abiud; Abiud engendra Éliakim; Éliakim engendra Azor; (Ⅱ)
- Ζοροβαβὲλ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἀβιούδ, Ἀβιοὺδ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἐλιακίμ, Ἐλιακὶμ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἀζώρ, (Ⅲ)
- Zorobabel autem genuit Abiud. Abiud autem genuit Eliacim. Eliacim autem genuit Azor. (Ⅳ)

And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
- Azor engendra Sadok; Sadok engendra Achim; Achim engendra Éliud; (Ⅱ)
- Ἀζὼρ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαδώκ, Σαδὼκ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἀχίμ, Ἀχὶμ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἐλιούδ, (Ⅲ)
- Azor autem genuit Sadoc. Sadoc autem genuit Achim. Achim autem genuit Eliud. (Ⅳ)
1. 15  
And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
- Éliud engendra Éléazar; Éléazar engendra Matthan; Matthan engendra Jacob; (Ⅱ)
- Ἐλιοὺδ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἐλεάζαρ, Ἐλεάζαρ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ματθάν, Ματθὰν δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰακώβ, (Ⅲ)
- Eliud autem genuit Eleazar. Eleazar autem genuit Mathan. Mathan autem genuit Jacob. (Ⅳ)
1. 16  
And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
- Jacob engendra Joseph, l'époux de Marie, de laquelle est né Jésus, qui est appelé Christ. (Ⅱ)
- Ἰακὼβ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰωσὴφ τὸν ἄνδρα Μαρίας, ἐξ ἧς ἐγεννήθη Ἰησοῦς ὁ λεγόμενος χριστός. (Ⅲ)
- Jacob autem genuit Joseph virum Mariæ, de qua natus est Jesus, qui vocatur Christus. (Ⅳ)
1. 17  
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
- Il y a donc en tout quatorze générations depuis Abraham jusqu'à David, quatorze générations depuis David jusqu'à la déportation à Babylone, et quatorze générations depuis la déportation à Babylone jusqu'au Christ. (Ⅱ)
- Πᾶσαι οὖν αἱ γενεαὶ ἀπὸ Ἀβραὰμ ἕως Δαυὶδ γενεαὶ δεκατέσσαρες, καὶ ἀπὸ Δαυὶδ ἕως τῆς μετοικεσίας Βαβυλῶνος γενεαὶ δεκατέσσαρες, καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς μετοικεσίας Βαβυλῶνος ἕως τοῦ χριστοῦ γενεαὶ δεκατέσσαρες. (Ⅲ)
- Omnes itaque generationes ab Abraham usque ad David, generationes quatuordecim : et a David usque ad transmigrationem Babylonis, generationes quatuordecim : et a transmigratione Babylonis usque ad Christum, generationes quatuordecim.\ (Ⅳ)
1. 18  
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
- Voici de quelle manière arriva la naissance de Jésus Christ. Marie, sa mère, ayant été fiancée à Joseph, se trouva enceinte, par la vertu du Saint Esprit, avant qu'ils eussent habité ensemble. (Ⅱ)
- Τοῦ δὲ ⸀Ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ ἡ ⸀γένεσις οὕτως ἦν. ⸀μνηστευθείσης τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ Μαρίας τῷ Ἰωσήφ, πρὶν ἢ συνελθεῖν αὐτοὺς εὑρέθη ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχουσα ἐκ πνεύματος ἁγίου. (Ⅲ)
- Christi autem generatio sic erat : cum esset desponsata mater ejus Maria Joseph, antequam convenirent inventa est in utero habens de Spiritu Sancto. (Ⅳ)
1. 19  
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
- Joseph, son époux, qui était un homme de bien et qui ne voulait pas la diffamer, se proposa de rompre secrètement avec elle. (Ⅱ)
- Ἰωσὴφ δὲ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς, δίκαιος ὢν καὶ μὴ θέλων αὐτὴν ⸀δειγματίσαι, ἐβουλήθη λάθρᾳ ἀπολῦσαι αὐτήν. (Ⅲ)
- Joseph autem vir ejus cum esset justus, et nollet eam traducere, voluit occulte dimittere eam. (Ⅳ)
1. 20  
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
- Comme il y pensait, voici, un ange du Seigneur lui apparut en songe, et dit: Joseph, fils de David, ne crains pas de prendre avec toi Marie, ta femme, car l'enfant qu'elle a conçu vient du Saint Esprit; (Ⅱ)
- ταῦτα δὲ αὐτοῦ ἐνθυμηθέντος ἰδοὺ ἄγγελος κυρίου κατ’ ὄναρ ἐφάνη αὐτῷ λέγων· Ἰωσὴφ υἱὸς Δαυίδ, μὴ φοβηθῇς παραλαβεῖν ⸀Μαρίαν τὴν γυναῖκά σου, τὸ γὰρ ἐν αὐτῇ γεννηθὲν ἐκ πνεύματός ἐστιν ἁγίου· (Ⅲ)
- Hæc autem eo cogitante, ecce angelus Domini apparuit in somnis ei, dicens : Joseph, fili David, noli timere accipere Mariam conjugem tuam : quod enim in ea natum est, de Spiritu Sancto est. (Ⅳ)
1. 21  
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
- elle enfantera un fils, et tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus; c'est lui qui sauvera son peuple de ses péchés. (Ⅱ)
- τέξεται δὲ υἱὸν καὶ καλέσεις τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἰησοῦν, αὐτὸς γὰρ σώσει τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν αὐτῶν. (Ⅲ)
- Pariet autem filium : et vocabis nomen ejus Jesum : ipse enim salvum faciet populum suum a peccatis eorum. (Ⅳ)
1. 22  
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
- Tout cela arriva afin que s'accomplît ce que le Seigneur avait annoncé par le prophète: (Ⅱ)
- τοῦτο δὲ ὅλον γέγονεν ἵνα πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν ⸀ὑπὸ κυρίου διὰ τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος· (Ⅲ)
- Hoc autem totum factum est, ut adimpleretur quod dictum est a Domino per prophetam dicentem : (Ⅳ)
1. 23  
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
- Voici, la vierge sera enceinte, elle enfantera un fils, et on lui donnera le nom d'Emmanuel, ce qui signifie Dieu avec nous. (Ⅱ)
- Ἰδοὺ ἡ παρθένος ἐν γαστρὶ ἕξει καὶ τέξεται υἱόν, καὶ καλέσουσιν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἐμμανουήλ· ὅ ἐστιν μεθερμηνευόμενον Μεθ’ ἡμῶν ὁ θεός. (Ⅲ)
- Ecce virgo in utero habebit, et pariet filium : et vocabunt nomen ejus Emmanuel, quod est interpretatum Nobiscum Deus. (Ⅳ)
1. 24  
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
- Joseph s'étant réveillé fit ce que l'ange du Seigneur lui avait ordonné, et il prit sa femme avec lui. (Ⅱ)
- ⸀ἐγερθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰωσὴφ ἀπὸ τοῦ ὕπνου ἐποίησεν ὡς προσέταξεν αὐτῷ ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου καὶ παρέλαβεν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ· (Ⅲ)
- Exsurgens autem Joseph a somno, fecit sicut præcepit ei angelus Domini, et accepit conjugem suam. (Ⅳ)
1. 25  
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
- Mais il ne la connut point jusqu'à ce qu'elle eût enfanté un fils, auquel il donna le nom de Jésus. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ οὐκ ἐγίνωσκεν αὐτὴν ἕως οὗ ἔτεκεν ⸀υἱόν· καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἰησοῦν. (Ⅲ)
- Et non cognoscebat eam donec peperit filium suum primogenitum : et vocavit nomen ejus Jesum. (Ⅳ)
