The Beneficent, the Merciful,
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ) - In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅱ) - Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (Ⅳ) - Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)

I swear by (or call to witness) the emissary winds sent one after another for men´s benefit,
- Waalmursalati AAurfan (Ⅰ) - By the emissary winds, (sent) one after another (Ⅱ) - By the loosed ones successively (Ⅲ) - بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا (Ⅳ) - By the (Winds) sent forth one after another (to man´s profit); (Ⅵ)

By the raging hurricanes,
- FaalAAasifati AAasfan (Ⅰ) - By the raging hurricanes, (Ⅱ) - storming tempestuously (Ⅲ) - فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا (Ⅳ) - Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, (Ⅵ)

77.

Which scatter things far and wide,
- Waalnnashirati nashran (Ⅰ) - By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; (Ⅱ) - by the scatterers scattering (Ⅲ) - وَالنَّاشِرَاتِ نَشْرًا (Ⅳ) - And scatter (things) far and wide; (Ⅵ)

And separate things one from another,
- Faalfariqati farqan (Ⅰ) - By those who winnow with a winnowing, (Ⅱ) - and the severally severing (Ⅲ) - فَالْفَارِقَاتِ فَرْقًا (Ⅳ) - Then separate them, one from another, (Ⅵ)

Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation (or message),
- Faalmulqiyati thikran (Ⅰ) - By those who bring down the Reminder, (Ⅱ) - and those hurling a reminder (Ⅲ) - فَالْمُلْقِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا (Ⅳ) - Then spread abroad a Message, (Ⅵ)

To clarify or to warn.
- AAuthran aw nuthran (Ⅰ) - To excuse or to warn, (Ⅱ) - excusing or warning, (Ⅲ) - عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا (Ⅳ) - Whether of Justification or of Warning;- (Ⅵ)

Most surely what you are promised must come to pass.
- Innama tooAAadoona lawaqiAAun (Ⅰ) - Surely that which ye are promised will befall. (Ⅱ) - surely that which you are promised is about to fall! (Ⅲ) - إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَاقِعٌ (Ⅳ) - Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. (Ⅵ)

So when the stars are made dim,
- Faitha alnnujoomu tumisat (Ⅰ) - So when the stars are put out, (Ⅱ) - When the stars shall be extinguished, (Ⅲ) - فَإِذَا النُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ (Ⅳ) - Then when the stars become dim; (Ⅵ)

And when the heaven is rent asunder,
- Waitha alssamao furijat (Ⅰ) - And when the sky is riven asunder, (Ⅱ) - when heaven shall be split (Ⅲ) - وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ فُرِجَتْ (Ⅳ) - When the heaven is cleft asunder; (Ⅵ)

And when the mountains are carried away as dust,
- Waitha aljibalu nusifat (Ⅰ) - And when the mountains are blown away, (Ⅱ) - when the mountains shall be scattered (Ⅲ) - وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ (Ⅳ) - When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; (Ⅵ)

And when the messengers are gathered at their appointed time
- Waitha alrrusulu oqqitat (Ⅰ) - And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed - (Ⅱ) - and when the Messengers´ time is set, (Ⅲ) - وَإِذَا الرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ (Ⅳ) - And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);- (Ⅵ)

To what Day are these signs appointed?
- Liayyi yawmin ojjilat (Ⅰ) - For what day is the time appointed ? (Ⅱ) - to what day shall they be delayed? (Ⅲ) - لِأَيِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ (Ⅳ) - For what Day are these (portents) deferred? (Ⅵ)

To the Day of Decision.
- Liyawmi alfasli (Ⅰ) - For the Day of Decision. (Ⅱ) - To the Day of Decision. (Ⅲ) - لِيَوْمِ الْفَصْلِ (Ⅳ) - For the Day of Sorting out. (Ⅵ)

And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is?
- Wama adraka ma yawmu alfasli (Ⅰ) - And what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! - (Ⅱ) - And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Decision? (Ⅲ) - وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ (Ⅳ) - And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out? (Ⅵ)

Woe on that day to the rejecters.
- Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena (Ⅰ) - Woe unto the repudiators on that day! (Ⅱ) - Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! (Ⅲ) - وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Ⅳ) - Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! (Ⅵ)

Did We not destroy the former generations?
- Alam nuhliki alawwaleena (Ⅰ) - Destroyed We not the former folk, (Ⅱ) - Did We not destroy the ancients, (Ⅲ) - أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ الْأَوَّلِينَ (Ⅳ) - Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)? (Ⅵ)

Then did We follow them up with later ones.
- Thumma nutbiAAuhumu alakhireena (Ⅰ) - Then caused the latter folk to follow after ? (Ⅱ) - and then follow them with the later folk? (Ⅲ) - ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ الْآخِرِينَ (Ⅳ) - So shall We make later (generations) follow them. (Ⅵ)

Even thus shall We deal with the guilty.
- Kathalika nafAAalu bialmujrimeena (Ⅰ) - Thus deal We ever with the guilty. (Ⅱ) - So We serve the sinners. (Ⅲ) - كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ (Ⅳ) - Thus do We deal with men of sin. (Ⅵ)

Woe on that day to the rejecters.
- Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena (Ⅰ) - Woe unto the repudiators on that day! (Ⅱ) - Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! (Ⅲ) - وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Ⅳ) - Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! (Ⅵ)

Did We not create you from a fluid regarded contemptible?
- Alam nakhluqkum min main maheenin (Ⅰ) - Did We not create you from a base fluid (Ⅱ) - Did We not create you of a mean water, (Ⅲ) - أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّاءٍ مَّهِينٍ (Ⅳ) - Have We not created you from a fluid (held) despicable?- (Ⅵ)

Which We laid in a safe abode (the womb),
- FajaAAalnahu fee qararin makeenin (Ⅰ) - Which We laid up in a safe abode (Ⅱ) - that We laid within a sure lodging (Ⅲ) - فَجَعَلْنَاهُ فِي قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ (Ⅳ) - The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, (Ⅵ)

Till an appointed term?
- Ila qadarin maAAloomin (Ⅰ) - For a known term ? (Ⅱ) - till a known term decreed? (Ⅲ) - إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ (Ⅳ) - For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? (Ⅵ)

Thus We arrange things - how well are We at arranging things.
- Faqadarna faniAAma alqadiroona (Ⅰ) - Thus We arranged. How excellent is Our arranging! (Ⅱ) - We determined; excellent determiners are We. (Ⅲ) - فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ الْقَادِرُونَ (Ⅳ) - For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). (Ⅵ)

Woe on that day to the rejecters.
- Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena (Ⅰ) - Woe unto the repudiators on that day! (Ⅱ) - Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! (Ⅲ) - وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Ⅳ) - Ah woe, that Day! to the Rejecters of Truth! (Ⅵ)

Have We not made the earth draw together to itself,
- Alam najAAali alarda kifatan (Ⅰ) - Have We not made the earth a receptacle (Ⅱ) - Made We not the earth to be a housing (Ⅲ) - أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا (Ⅳ) - Have We not made the earth (as a place) to draw together. (Ⅵ)

The living and the dead,
- Ahyaan waamwatan (Ⅰ) - Both for the living and the dead, (Ⅱ) - for the living and for the dead? (Ⅲ) - أَحْيَاءً وَأَمْوَاتًا (Ⅳ) - The living and the dead, (Ⅵ)

And placed therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink sweet water from them?
- WajaAAalna feeha rawasiya shamikhatin waasqaynakum maan furatan (Ⅰ) - And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein ? (Ⅱ) - Set We not therein soaring mountains? Sated you with sweetest water? (Ⅲ) - وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ شَامِخَاتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَاكُم مَّاءً فُرَاتًا (Ⅳ) - And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? (Ⅵ)

Woe on that day to the rejecters.
- Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena (Ⅰ) - Woe unto the repudiators on that day! (Ⅱ) - Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! (Ⅲ) - وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Ⅳ) - Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! (Ⅵ)

Go on to that which you used to deny!.
- Intaliqoo ila ma kuntum bihi tukaththiboona (Ⅰ) - (It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny; (Ⅱ) - Depart to that you cried was lies! (Ⅲ) - انطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ (Ⅳ) - (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false! (Ⅵ)

Go on to the smoke with three branches (or three fold shadow),
- Intaliqoo ila thillin thee thalathi shuAAabin (Ⅰ) - Depart unto the shadow falling threefold, (Ⅱ) - Depart to a triple-massing shadow (Ⅲ) - انطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِي ثَلَاثِ شُعَبٍ (Ⅳ) - "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, (Ⅵ)

|

Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame.
- La thaleelin wala yughnee mina allahabi (Ⅰ) - (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame. (Ⅱ) - unshading against the blazing flame (Ⅲ) - لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنَ اللَّهَبِ (Ⅳ) - "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. (Ⅵ)

Surely it sends up sparks like palaces,
- Innaha tarmee bishararin kaalqasri (Ⅰ) - Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, (Ⅱ) - that shoots sparks like dry faggots, (Ⅲ) - إِنَّهَا تَرْمِي بِشَرَرٍ كَالْقَصْرِ (Ⅳ) - "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, (Ⅵ)

As if they were tawny camels.
- Kaannahu jimalatun sufrun (Ⅰ) - (Or) as it might be camels of bright yellow hue. (Ⅱ) - sparks like to golden herds. (Ⅲ) - كَأَنَّهُ جِمَالَتٌ صُفْرٌ (Ⅳ) - "As if there were (a string of) yellow camels (marching swiftly)." (Ⅵ)

- Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena (Ⅰ) - Woe unto the repudiators on that day! (Ⅱ) - Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! (Ⅲ) - وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Ⅳ) - Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! (Ⅵ)

This is the day on which they shall not speak,
- Hatha yawmu la yantiqoona (Ⅰ) - This is a day wherein they speak not, (Ⅱ) - This is the day they shall not speak (Ⅲ) - هَٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ (Ⅳ) - That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. (Ⅵ)

Nor are they permitted to make excuses (or pleas).
- Wala yuthanu lahum fayaAAtathiroona (Ⅰ) - Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses. (Ⅱ) - neither be given leave, and excuse themselves. (Ⅲ) - وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ (Ⅳ) - Nor will it be open to them to put forth pleas. (Ⅵ)

- Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena (Ⅰ) - Woe unto the repudiators on that day! (Ⅱ) - Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! (Ⅲ) - وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Ⅳ) - Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! (Ⅵ)

This is the Day of Decision: We have gathered you and those of yore.
- Hatha yawmu alfasli jamaAAnakum waalawwaleena (Ⅰ) - This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. (Ⅱ) - ´This is the Day of Decision; We have joined you with the ancients; (Ⅲ) - هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَاكُمْ وَالْأَوَّلِينَ (Ⅳ) - That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! (Ⅵ)

So if you have a plan, plan against Me now.
- Fain kana lakum kaydun fakeedooni (Ⅰ) - If now ye have any wit, outwit Me. (Ⅱ) - if you have a trick, try you now to trick Me!´ (Ⅲ) - فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ (Ⅳ) - Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! (Ⅵ)

Woe on that day to the rejecters.
- Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena (Ⅰ) - Woe unto the repudiators on that day! (Ⅱ) - Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! (Ⅲ) - وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Ⅳ) - Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! (Ⅵ)

|
|
77.

Surely those who guard against evil shall be amid shades and fountains,
- Inna almuttaqeena fee thilalin waAAuyoonin (Ⅰ) - Lo! those who kept their duty are amid shade and fountains, (Ⅱ) - Truly the godfearing shall dwell amid shades and fountains, (Ⅲ) - إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَالٍ وَعُيُونٍ (Ⅳ) - As to the Righteous, they shall be amidst (cool) shades and springs (of water). (Ⅵ)

And fruits such as they desire.
- Wafawakiha mimma yashtahoona (Ⅰ) - And fruits such as they desire. (Ⅱ) - and such fruits as their hearts desire: (Ⅲ) - وَفَوَاكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ (Ⅳ) - And (they shall have) fruits,- all they desire. (Ⅵ)

Eat and drink pleasantly because of what you did.
- Kuloo waishraboo haneean bima kuntum taAAmaloona (Ⅰ) - (Unto them it is said:) Eat, drink and welcome, O ye blessed, in return for what ye did. (Ⅱ) - ´Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working.´ (Ⅲ) - كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ (Ⅳ) - "Eat ye and drink ye to your heart´s content: for that ye worked (Righteousness). (Ⅵ)

Surely thus do We reward the doers of good.
- Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena (Ⅰ) - Thus do We reward the good. (Ⅱ) - Even so do We recompense the good-doers. (Ⅲ) - إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ (Ⅳ) - Thus do We certainly reward the Doers of Good. (Ⅵ)

Woe on that day to the rejecters.
- Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena (Ⅰ) - Woe unto the repudiators on that day! (Ⅱ) - Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! (Ⅲ) - وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Ⅳ) - Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! (Ⅵ)

Eat and enjoy yourselves for a little; surely you are guilty.
- Kuloo watamattaAAoo qaleelan innakum mujrimoona (Ⅰ) - Eat and take your ease (on earth) a little. Lo! ye are guilty. (Ⅱ) - ´Eat and take your joy a little; you are sinners!´ (Ⅲ) - كُلُوا وَتَمَتَّعُوا قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ (Ⅳ) - (O ye unjust!) Eat ye and enjoy yourselves (but) a little while, for that ye are Sinners. (Ⅵ)

- Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena (Ⅰ) - Woe unto the repudiators on that day! (Ⅱ) - Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! (Ⅲ) - وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Ⅳ) - Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! (Ⅵ)

And when it is said to them, "Bow down (in humility), they bow not.
- Waitha qeela lahumu irkaAAoo la yarkaAAoona (Ⅰ) - When it is said unto them: Bow down, they bow not down! (Ⅱ) - When it is said to them, ´Prostrate yourselves!´ they prostrate not. (Ⅲ) - وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا لَا يَرْكَعُونَ (Ⅳ) - And when it is said to them, "Prostrate yourselves!" they do not so. (Ⅵ)

- Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena (Ⅰ) - Woe unto the repudiators on that day! (Ⅱ) - Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! (Ⅲ) - وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Ⅳ) - Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! (Ⅵ)
